INTERLOCHEN, MI. — A native to Traverse City, I moved back to the area and am trying to find my niche. I took over management of Creekside Cottages, a small group of cottages from my family, and am organizing an all-generations hostel and travelers lounge, located 14 miles (23 kilometers) south of downtown Traverse City, close to Interlochen State Park and Interlochen Center for the Arts -- and not too far off U.S. Bike Route 35.
While many of the apartments are occupied by long-term tenants, we're able to offer a few cottages as affordable, self-catering vacation spots (there is NOT always a host on premises); We also have twin beds available year-round in a shared bunk room (or you can book the whole space) with access to shared bathrooms, kitchen, and lounge space.
I have degrees in History of Art, Nonprofit Finance, and City Planning, and have traveled all over the U.S. (and beyond), doing community and cooperatively-focused work. I've lived in California, Massachusetts, and North Carolina. I'm grateful for these experiences and the amazing network I've made. Now I'm excited to connect that work to my local community by meeting new people, hosting travelers, and learning from their stories and experiences.
If you're reading this, I don't have to tell you how amazing this part of the world is. My hometown has grown from a popular summer tourist destination to a world-class center for local food, culture, and outdoor adventure.
