With easy access to the Adriatic beach (250 meters) this spacious loft is at the top of a four-story house with parking. Shops, banks and railway station all within walking distance. The premises is easy to find as located on a major road (SS16). Airports: Ancona (25mins) Rimini (40mins) and Bologna (100mins). Exit/entry to A14 motorway 3 km.
There is a magnificent sea view from the kitchen area.
The loft consists of a very large area with a fully equipped kitchen/dining space, a bedroom space, (1 double bed) a lounge area with a divan/double bed and a large bathroom. There is also a separate bedroom with two single beds which can be pushed together to make a double bed and it can also accommodate a third child sized bed (available on request). The double bed in the main area is surrounded by venetian blinds and can thus be isolated from the other areas. The bathroom has a washbasin + vanity unit and a bath/shower and WC. On one side of the loft there is a window with a magnificent sea view. Parts of the loft (separate bedroom and bathroom) are below adult head height so guests will need to be careful when moving around.
NB: Because of the four flights of stairs and the restricted head height, we do not recommend the loft for elderly guests or guests who have mobility issues.
On the exterior of the apartment there is a small balcony where it is possible to have drinks and observe the surrounding area.
The beach in the immediate vicinity (250 metres) consists of pebbles up to the water line (sand thereafter) but sandy beaches are available nearby. Marotta is a Blue Flag Resort and in the summer months the beachfront facilities cater particularly well for families with children of all ages as well as adults. The Gulliver Play Park (July - mid-Sept) is particularly popular with children (see photos). Every Wednesday morning there is a colourful street market selling everything under the sun (pun intended).
The many excellent fish restaurants in Marotta are noted for their cuisine - most of the seafood is caught locally and served freshly on the same day.
During the summer months there are many "sagre" (street festivals) in the area orientated around gastronomic themes. The "Garagolo" (APORRHAIS PESPELECANI) featured in the opening photo is an edible mollusk which is the symbol of Marotta. The "Sagra of the Garagoi (plural of garagol)" is a culinary festival held in April to celebrate Marotta's connection with the sea. In late July another festival with the sea theme - the Festa della Tratta - takes place at the pier in Marotta. The festa is a revival of traditional fishing methods. At 5:00 am fishermen lay a net from a rowing boat and then haul it in manually to the shore. The event is very popular with photographers as the rising sun and the fishing scene provide a spectacular setting. In the evening there is food, music and dancing on the beach with live bands. The festival lasts for 3 days.
In early August the neighbouring town of Senigallia hosts the world famous Summer Jamboree. Lasting 9 days, Senigallia swings back into the 40’s, 50’s & 60's with revival bands from all over the world playing their music well into the small hours. Visitors get into the spirit of the revival by dressing up in the colourful fashions of the time. A prominent part of the festival is the Hawaiian party on the sandy beach, so bring your grass skirts and Hawaiian shirts! You will also find stalls selling themed memorabilia and parades of period cars and motorcycles cruising along the streets of Senigallia.
There is no heavy industry in the area and, within brief driving distance of Marotta, there are numerous picturesque towns and villages (e.g. Urbino, Corinaldo, Mondavio) with profound histories set in spectacular scenery.
The apartment is self-contained and guests have access to the garden area which is equipped with two gazebos and garden furniture/bar-b-que facilities.
A free parking area is available within the confines of the property. When in season, guests can pick fresh figs from the two fig trees in the back garden. If you visit in late Sept - October you can help us pick olives from our two olive trees in the front garden.
A limited range of beach toys is available for younger children.

Born in Eritrea of Italian parents. Moved to British East Africa (Uganda) in 1955. I went to school in Kenya for my primary and secondary education. I went to university in the UK where I did my first degree at Stirling university in Scotland and my Masters degree at Sussex university near Brighton. I lived in the UK for over 40 years and 5 years ago my wife Ruth and I moved to Italy. Between us Ruth and I have 5 adult children and 2 grandsons. I am passionate about photography, art, graphics and cooking. Ruth and I love holidays where you can be at one with nature. One of our favorite travel destinations is South Africa where we have family. We prefer to travel to warm places but appreciate unspoiled nature in all its guises. We love to interact with people of different cultures. As a professional photographer/graphic artist I have a good knowledge of the photogenic areas in the surrounding countryside and Ruth and I are very willing to share our knowledge of the area with our guests. As far as our guests are concerned they should know that we are almost always available but we take care not to be invasive. It is very important to us that our guests enjoy their stay with us to the extent that they become friends that want to come back to visit us often.
