It’s been over 8 years since they first met on an unexpected day In Mijas Pueblo. They were both attending a birthday of a mutual friend in Spain. Both came from two different worlds, two different cultures, two different countries, two different languages and were very different.
They kept in touch as friends and sporadically wrote to each other on social media over the years. Despite the difficulty of language and distance, she began to like him. Every year he returned to Spain to teach at a school; Specifically in Mijas. This was the town where they both first met and continued to meet when he would visit.
It was four years since they began their friendship and it was during one of the times that he visited Spain, when she realized that he only intended to have a friendship with her. They both decided to distance themselves and remain as friends. They kept in moderate touch, but they weren’t as close anymore.
A few years went by, specifically 7 years since they had first met, and Sean decided to move to Malaga, the city where Victoria lived, unbeknownst to Sean. For many years Sean felt the urge to move to Spain, specifically Malaga. After living in Asia for three years as a photographer and Video Producer, he decided to make the move. She learned the news only a few days before he arrived in the city. She began to think and remember what she had felt for him years ago. At the same time he felt an strange urge to see her and connect. But he made no effort to do so for they had grown a part over the years.
Three months after he moved to Malaga, she got off a bus and unexpectedly saw him riding his bike in the city. Despite feeling strange, she managed to call out his name. He still doesn’t understand how he could have heard her voice due to wearing headphones, but he heard his name being called. He was confused because he didn’t think he knew anyone in the city. But he turned around and there she was! They were both surprised and happy to see each other. They began to talk in their imperfect Spanglish. As it turned out they were both on their way to the same place to meet mutual friends for lunch. He didn’t know exactly where to go, so she led they way, and they walked and talked.
During the next few weeks he couldn’t stop thinking about her. He thought about her everyday. He felt confused and overwhelmed, as he was feeling something he had never felt before her. Until this day, Sean had never wanted someone in this way, this quickly! He thought, "this can't be real! I can't feel this way about someone after one day!?" Unfortunately for him, she was thinking she only wanted to be friends, and had no interest in him.
After a few months went by, he still couldn’t stop thinking about her. He convinced her to meet for a bear. He said, “after many years of friendship and writing to each other it would be nice to talk in person and catch up.” He secretly wanted to see if he was going crazy! But, they talked for hours, and he was even more crazy about her!!! He was completely smitten! He asked to see her again, and it was then he told her how he felt! He was honest and expressed his interest to pursue her if there was the slightest possibility she had any interest. But, she didn't seem interested.
She wasn’t sure how she felt, but he began to pursue her anyway. Somehow, he now saw her in the same way she saw him eight years prior. They began to spend more time with each other. After a few months she decided that she didn’t want to see him anymore and wanted time a part for herself. He thought he lost her. He let her go and said he would wait for her as long as it took. He committed to her in his heart and knew the only chance of winning her heart was to let her go! He determined he would only stop pursuing her if she asked him to stop.. but she never did! At this point she believed all she wanted was a friendship. But she was wrong. After a few months of not one word spoken to each other, she realized that she did not want to let him go, and gave him a signal that he could continue to pursue her. He pursued her heart for 10 months until, (with the chivalry that characterizes him) he asked her if she wanted to be his girlfriend, which of course she answered yes! Nine months later, in a town called Old Age of the Border in Malaga, on the 10 of December of the same year; He would ask her one of the most momentous questions of their lives. "Will you marry me?"
This is a story that was forged through years, distance, cultural difference and language barriers. She says that from the moment she saw him she was sure she knew who he was. It took him longer, but when he could see her, he did not take his eyes off of her for another day.....his heart finally found its home.
They decided to move back to place where it began, Mijas Pueblo.. and give the same love that they have for each to others while hosting them in their home. Every aspect of their home and life is built on the virtue of Love! Sean, Victoria, and their team of Co/hosts (Justin, Carolyn, Grace, and Rebekah) Welcome you!
