Keady Cottage is 30m from the ocean and sits in a lush tropical garden. Completed in Jan 2016 the cottage is a beautiful local wood-(Acacia) finish with an outdoor shower and deck overlooking the garden. Keady is ideal to relax and regenerate. In the ocean in front of Keady is a garden of live corals; at low tide a flat limestone platform is exposed where locals search for crustaceans and shellfish in the traditional way. There are no hawkers or children / people trying to sell you trinkets!
Keady is a native design and constructed out of local wood and Nipa products throughout. It is positioned facing west to afford the best opportunity for shade by reducing direct sunlight. However the bedroom area is very light as the sliding door from the western facing deck lets in ample light and also allows the breeze from the ocean to flow into the room. The hot/cold shower area is straight out of a designer handbook (well Pinterest actually!) complete with a living banana tree or two for shade! Due to the shower being outside it may give the appearance of not being cleaned but it is! leaves from the passion fruit bushes and banana plants shed leaves all the time! If you want it 'freshened' up please ask!
A colourful passion fruit archway path leads directly to the ocean from the accommodation
Bed linen, towels and soaps are provided. Sheets are changed every 3 days. The cottage is tidied everyday but not cleaned every day, only every 3rd day. If something is not to your liking please inform the manager at Baha Bar. We can arrange for washing of clothes and babysitting if required.
For both of these services there is a cost of 100 pesos per kilo for clothes washing and 100 pesos per hour for babysitting.
Babysitting must be arranged ahead of time pls!
Please check in at the Baha Bar restaurant, the keys are left with the cashier upstairs from 8.30am to 11 pm. Access to Keady is from Baha Bar restaurant (#1 on the island according to Trip Advisor), walk underneath the nipa sakayan (local fishing kyak) through the gardens in the back of the restaurant towards the ocean and the cottage is on your right 25m from the restaurant. The footpath corridor (underneath flourishing and fruit bearing passion fruit ) also leads to the seafront 30m from Keady cottage.

Keady has hot water showers (2 side by side) but on rare occasions the local water supply pressure is not sufficient to trip the hot water tank but usually this only lasts a couple of hours. Also we also suffer power cuts from time to time but Keady has its own generator which will be turned on by one of the staff (even at 2AM!) to ensure the continuation of power.
We have Motor bike (scooter), mountain bike (road [150p day] and advanced off-road level), stand up paddle board and jeepney rental (2000 p day not including driver). We also have a dive boat and dive instructor / guide who could take you diving in one of the numerous dive spots close to Keady Cottage.
We also offer an exhilarating mountain bike experience where we drop you at the top of the highest point on the island and you wind your way to Baha Bar on footpaths and backroads seeing a real up close cross section of Siquidonian life (the people in the mountains were so remote that even to this day they speak with a different accent). It is guided tour and you need to be medium level mountain bike capability, the equipment is virtually new (mainly Norco and Giant bikes with 26-27” wheels). The journey takes 2-3 hours depending on ability.
The 52' Baha Bar boat is also available for hire by groups provided enough warning in given (48 hours minimum) which can take you to Apo or Dumaguete or all the local diving / snorkelling spots.
Please note that all construction next door has now been completed and we have upgraded the shower in the outdoor bathroom.
There maybe some minimal background noise from the live music playing at Baha Bar (5-6 nights a week 6.30pm - 9.30pm unless there is a special occasion). Baha Bar is famed as ‘the place to be’ on the island in a laid back, no 'hustle and bustle' kind of cool place to spend a rainy day or meet with friends. Keady is a short walking distance from Baha Bar but is far enough away to enjoy solitude and silence during the day.
We have the best Wifi on the island but I have noted that some guests have expressed some frustration with the speed. Unfortunately the connection is not North American or European standard yet so you have to forgive us on some occasions if it is too slow. To try and combat this understandable annoyance we have run dedicated cable to the bar (the only one on the island) and 2 extra routers.
Although Siquijor is almost crime free and is one of the safest places, not only in Philippines but in SE Asia we still have a security guard who wanders around at night for the comfort of guests. As with all countries these days pls check travel advisories before travel.
Please no smoking inside the house or on the deck (please go in the Baha Bar garden). We will charge 1,000 pesos if there is evidence of smoking inside the house or on the deck (it is unfortunate we have to enforce this rule but we have had too many guests not respecting the property and often the succeeding guest has to wait hours for us to clean up!)
Please no smoking inside the cottage. Also it would be great if you could keep the noise to a minimum after 10.30pm.
We would also appreciate it if you would not scrape the furniture along the wood floors; if you need to move furniture outside and it is too heavy we can assist you! no worries.

Gen and myself have lived in Siquijor for ~5 years. We were drawn to Siquijor by the island's beauty, amazing outdoor activities and wonderful hardworking and family oriented people. Siquijor is a lifestyle island. I am a swimmer, snorkeler and avid painter and Gen is a runner, rollerblader and horticulturist / keen gardener; when we have a moment of spare time together we both enjoy mountain biking, road biking and paddle boarding or spending time with our children at our hilltop farm or in the ocean.
I am a geologist by background and in all the years of privileged travel to many exotic locations spanning every continent I have never encountered such a peaceful, clean and ‘honest’ place as Siquijor and yet it is not too disconnected from the outside world.
Each house we list is owned by a Canadian colleague / friend and is set up to enjoy the outdoors and appreciate the views or is nestled among the lush variety of plants that grow in this climate (Gen has very green fingers!).
We both live and work next door and are often either in Baha Ba'r, one of our gardens or the mango orchard 5km away. So if you have any concerns or issues pls don't hesitate to drop in and find us or ask for us at the Baha Ba'r.
