Welcome to Maison D’Angles, located in the centre of Angles Sur L’Anglin, officially one of Frances most beautiful villages. Our spacious & much loved holiday home has been sympathetically renovated and decorated with antique finds. The house, pretty garden & sunny terrace overlook the historic castle & valley, the perfect place to watch sunsets. We are based minutes from the shops & restaurants of the upper village. Regrettably we are unable to take children under 12 years without exception.

Maison D'Angles is a beautifully restored stone village house, retaining lots of beautiful original features, restored sympathetically and decorated eclectically with a mix of antiques and brocante finds, plus new modern pieces. The stunning views of the ancient Chateau and across the valley are breathtaking and the house is located minutes away from the shops, cafes and restaurants.

As Angles is a rural village, we would recommend hiring a car if you are not driving. Public transport is fairly limited, although there is a bus from Chatellerault to La Roche Posay (12 km's from Angles). There are also taxis available from Chatellerault and La Roche Posay.

Note for those travelling from the UK with dogs. We like to take the Eurotunnel as having a rather sensitive Labrador, it used to be the only option where your dog can stay with you the whole time, The ferries also allow dogs, but on many they must remain in your car for the duration of the journey. However, Brittany ferries now have a number of pet friendly cabins on some of their Le Havre service, plus kennels on some of their St Malo crossings.

Emma's house exceeded expectations. We rented it for a month during the month of July so we got to participate in Bastille day. The village is gorgeous which I particularly enjoyed as an artist. I spent many hours wandering around, sketching the village. The house is fabulous and very comfortable for groups of people. We had lovely meals on the terrace and everyone had a secluded spot to rest if needed. Everything you could image was available in the house. We were even able to watch Wimbledon in such a gorgeous setting! La Roche Posey is the nearby village that has a lot of events and spas and a local market. There are tennis courts a short drive away and a beach to enjoy in the hottest of weather. Every restaurant in the village has great food. I cannot recommend this place more as an escape from city life.

A very special retreat in a spectacular setting! It was like staying in the home of a friend - who'd thought of nearly everything you could wish for a fabulous stay. Really well equipped kitchen, and a lovely space whatever the weather. Big spacious bedrooms with comfy beds and lots of storage space - and a lovely powerful shower. We were blessed with glorious weather, and the house was lovely and cool. The views from the terrace were spectacular - supporting many a bottle of chilled rose. The village is incredible - please don't get in your car and drive to explore elsewhere, there are so many things to see, with loads of magical walks and plenty of options for refreshment as a reward. We took the dog and the bikes - the dog walking is glorious, and there's a lovely swimming beach/area on the banks of the Gartemps not 8 minutes drive away if its too hot (one of very few drives we did!). Even the dog learned to swim! The cycling round and about is some of the best I have ever had the privilege to experience - plenty of flat stuff, but enough slopes and hills to justify the cheese, wine and bread fresh from the village boulangerie. If you are a serious buyer, the lovely local hotel owner will let you taste some of the wines before buying - and there are lots of markets in the locale. The boucherie truck and the fromagerie van made our last Thursday very special. A wonderful magical stay in a spectacular location with perfect hosts! Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Emma's place is beautiful, peaceful and amazingly situated in a wonderful French village. The house is all in stone, really authentic and very confortable. It's really warm during winter. We used the woodburner quite a lot and it was perfect. The kitchen is really well equipped, and it's a pleasure to cook there. The village has almost everything you need: a mini market, a boulangerie, a pharmacy a restaurant... We highly recommend Emma's house!

This was our second stay in Emma's house, and it was still as nice as the first time. Fall colors in the countryside are fantastic, and the house is very comfortable as well in autumn. We enjoyed a cosy stay and felt once again "at home".

This place was absolutely wonderful and all jaws dropped when we walked in. The photos don't do it justice. The amenities were fantastic, the kitchen was spacious and practical. Just a short stroll to the village square to pick up fresh croissants and bagels in the morning and a glass of local rose in the afternoon. It was the perfect spot to base ourselves in for touring around the Loire Valley. If you only have few days it is worth just to come and enjoy the apartment and the town itself. I would not hesitate to stay here again and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. The host Emma was great to deal with

I'm a photographer and gardener, living and working in South West London. I love France and have been visiting the Vienne area for nearly 25 years. My mother bought her first house there in 1992 and then in 2002 fell in love with Maison D'Angles and spent 5 years renovating it from an extremely dilapidated state! I inherited it in 2012 and my husband, our dog and I spend as much time as we can there, not only to spend time in the local area but using it as a base to visit the Loire Valley, Bordeaux and the coastline near to La Rochelle.

I also love to travel and sunshine, long walks, good food and wine!
