• ten minutes to the beloved little harbour ferries to Granville Island -- with its incredible public market, theatres, restaurants, unique shops (handmade brooms, anyone? custom glass blowing?), artists' studios and lively street entertainment

• one block to the colourful Davie Street village

The condo sits perched on the top of an eight-floor medical office building, the cleanest and quietest neighbours in the city! And shades of James Bond, a private elevator whisks you straight to the top floor, skipping all the rest.

The accommodation is large, covering three levels:
• kitchen and living room, with plenty of space for entertaining, are on the main floor. A long balcony overlooks the corner of Burrard and Davie and its verdant community garden.
• the two bedrooms and bathroom are one floor above, plus an extra seating area or den for quiet reading. The master bedroom has its own private balcony, also facing the community garden at Burrard and Davie.
• and then one more level up and you're on the massive, private rooftop patio -- perfect for relaxing in the sun, or BBQing, or watching the magical summer sunsets over English Bay. Also great for viewing Vancouver's legendary international fireworks competition, this year featuring the UK on July 27th, Canada on July 31st, and Thailand on August 3rd. (Book early!)

This is my personal home, but when you rent the entire apartment, I won't be staying there -- so you'll have the place entirely to yourself. If you don't need the whole place, ask me about booking the master bedroom only, for a reduced fee. (When it's shared accommodation with me, you'll have two lovely dogs and a cat to play with, as a bonus! When you book the whole apartment, the pets depart with me.)

The apartment comes with:

I'm originally from Portugal, but I've lived in Vancouver for 16 years and love the West Coast way of life and all the spectacular outdoor recreation there is here. Basically my house rules are just an innkeeper's version of the Golden Rule: Do unto my home as you would have me do unto yours.

If you'd like to have a Vancouver friend or two over for a drink on the patio, that's great; but please, no more than six people in the apartment at any one time, including the registered guests, without prior permission.

No smoking anywhere inside the house; but outer (i.e. street-facing) balconies and rooftop terrace are fine.

I have neighbours on both sides of me who are still a little skeptical of the Airbnb experience, so please no loud music, or late-night revelry. Please be especially quiet and circumspect in all common areas of the building, including the entrance lobby, the elevator and the eighth-floor courtyard.

No pets without prior permission. I have two dogs and a cat, and I love animals, but mine will not be living in the suite while I am renting it out, unless I am there myself (on a shared accommodation basis).

Great location, and Rui is very personable. Do note that the rooftop is currently being remodeled and the construction is occasionally noisy.

Rui was a great host. He really did go the extra mile to make us feel welcome. Place is very centrally situated near bars, restaurants, shopping areas and transport links. Would definitely stay here again.

가족 4명이서 묵었고, 깔끔해서 좋았습니다. 1층은 테라스와 주방이 있고 2층은 더블침대가 각각 방에 나뉘어 있어서 코를 고시는 가족이 있다면 좋은 선택이 될 것 같네요. 위치도 밴쿠버 시내와 가까워서 걸어다니기 좋습니다. 하지만 무엇보다 좋았던 건 호스트가 제일 좋았습니다. 너무나 친절했고, 영어도 알아듣기 쉽게 이야기해주며, 저희가 곤란한 상황이었을때 정말 과분할 정도로 계속 도와주더라구요. 가족여행 오시는 분들께 강력 추천드립니다.

Very good location within easy walking distance to the main commercial area and the waterfront park. Spacing living room with french windows but the bedrooms upstairs are comparatively small. Kitchen,toilet and laudrey room are well equipped. On top of these, Rui is a very friendly and warm-hearted host.

I'll start with the positives. This is a great location as far as being close to some great restaurants (Score on Davie is SO good with brunch!), bars, places/things to do like hop on a water taxi/ferry over to Granville Island Public Market, etc. Nice views from the balcony. Unfortunately, this place did not work out for us (myself, my husband, and another couple) because we found the cleanliness overall to be not up to par. Three main concerns were the bedding, the bathroom, and the ice container in the freezer. The ice bucket was not clean (food particles and freezer packs inside the ice bucket--not the area you'd want to grab ice from and put in your glass to drink). There was hair all over the wall right next to the sink, some on the ceiling and in shower. Light fixture hanging down from the ceiling. The straw that broke the camel's back was the comforter on the bed in the master bedroom. There were disgusting stains all over it. Not one spot, not a couple spots, but all over it. It was absolutely appalling that someone would think that was suitable for others to use that are paying to stay in your home. We didn't notice until the second day because it had a sheet over it. Basically as soon as we saw it in the early afternoon we decided that everything considered, we weren't comfortable and didn't feel like we had clean beds to sleep in which is really the bare minimum you expect--a clean place to sleep. So, we left and went to a hotel for the next 2 nights that we were planning to be a Rui's. Airbnb customer service was great to work with, completely understood our situation (especially when reviewing all the photos we took and shared with them). Rui's response was ultimately that he had never had any problems before, this wasn't a hotel, and he just had the floors and carpets cleaned. That was it! He refunded us one night. Airbnb did what they could and refunded us another $200 to make up for some of the rest. We were very appreciative of Airbnb customer service, and disappointed in Rui. We wish him the best going forward, and suggest a professional cleaning each time he rents his home out. I'd also like to note that this is the first time I have ever left a less than stellar review for any rental facility, and I've stayed in my fair share over the years.

Rui's place was perfectly located for my first trip to Vancouver. We were able to walk nearly everywhere and felt safe the entire time. The apartment itself is nice. Plenty of space for 4-5 people. Rui warned us that building construction made it so the rooftop was closed, but unfortunately the construction itself was really loud during the day. Other than that, the location, the free parking and Rui's prompt responses to my messages make his place highly recommended.
