With breathtaking views, this stylish, secluded and fully self-contained retreat is in a protected habitat and borders the National Park. There are walking trails, rain forest, waterfalls (wet season), veggie patch and a great wood fire for cosy winter nights. Explore or retreat - for a perfect romantic lost weekend.
A craftsman built cabin cleverly made from recycled and reclaimed materials. Stylish design and functional spaces in a spectacular setting at the top of the mountain abutting the national park. The cabin is nestled on an elevated ridge, within protected habitat and lush forests at the top of the Brunswick River. Natural waterfalls and forest trails are right at the doorstep, together with a veggie patch and orchard producing organically grown goodness.
Guests have private and full use of the cabin, it's outdoor garden areas with fire-pit (when possible) and star-gazing platform (under construction) sunny lawn area and a large private and secluded deck looking across to the escarpment. There's a veggie and herb patch (David will let you know what's in season) and other seasonal produce from the Araluen orchard. You are welcome to explore the property's extensive walking trails and the parkland-like ridge across the valley with meditation/yoga/work-out space.
There's a wood fire to keep the cabin warm using firewood sustainably grown on the property. An electric blanket for the bed is available on request.
While Araluen is a great place for a digital detox, there is some ability to connect with the outside world;
Mobile reception is patchy but a couple of bars of signal can be found on the front deck - usually to send and receive messages. Connecting to the wifi enables iMessage and FaceTime audio.
The wifi works ok - it's a relatively weak signal shared across the property so downloading or uploading files can take some time and is recommended to be done prior to arrival. Streaming is possible but expect delays and drop-outs.
There's a 42" TV with DVD player and a selection of DVD's for movie nights. There is no TV reception on the property. There's also a selection of games and some books and magazines.
