Wow- super happy we found this place. Traveling through Costa Rica for 2 weeks and winging the lodging on Air BnB. I thought everything I was seeing on the post was too good to be true for the price and was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case. This is an amazing little cabin tucked away in the rural outskirts of the beach towns. It is secluded, so having your own transportation is recommended. If you're looking for something within walking or reasonable biking distance, this might not be the place for you. If you're staying a few nights and want an amazing personable experience, you should stay here. Adrian and Juliana greeted us with coconuts (w/ little umbrellas) and a genuine desire to help us with anything we needed. Alberto, the security guard opens and closes the gate when you come in and out at night (you have privacy and security here). The place is perfect and fully equipped with anything you need. Only 1 bedroom has A/C, the other has a fan which is fine. Geri is great and happy to show you around the property or have Adrian give you a tour of the trails (the place is 55 acres) and a short hike will lead to beautiful views of mountains and the ocean (I saw an iguana and a monkey hiking there as well). After the hike, you can cool off in the perfect little pool in the gently flowing river. Relax in a hammock, ride mountain bikes (2 provided) and do laundry if you need to- Juliana will fold your clothes and have them waiting neatly for you. Adrian took us on a night tour in the yard and we saw frogs and plants most people pay $20 to see on a 'Jungle' tour. This place is seriously an amazing find and I can't say enough about our experience here- the place and the people. I look forwarding to coming back here on my next trip to Costa Rica!

Geri's house lies off the beaten track & was just what we looked for.Jungle covered mountains in the background& a most refreshing creek running through the beautiful property. The caretakers Adrian&Juliana made the stay a special one:welcoming coconut drink, night tour on the property discovering Costa Rican wildlife & fishing forTilapia. We loved the atmosphere, the people& the time we spend there tremendously!!

We have only stayed for two nights. A lengthy review by another guest describes the place very well. You need a rental car to explore the area. The restaurant at the nearby ranch (2 minute drive or about 10 minute walk) is good and even less expensive than in Quepos (nearby town about 15 minutes away by car). It is open air (no walls) so you need a bug repellent or you can order to go as we did. The resident managers, Adrian and Juliana, and the security guy, Alfredo, are very friendly but do not speak English. Thanks to my modest command of Spanish we had lots of interesting conversations. Their dog Camalo looks ferocious but is very friendly after you've been introduced. Their two-month old puppy is a cutie. Their three-year old son is a cutie, too. When you need privacy you do have it as they live in another cabin on the property. The guest house has two rental units. We were their alone. There is also a washer and a dryer and Juliana offers to do laundry for you (we did not use it). There is no wi-fi but there is cable TV with some channels in English (we watched mostly BBC World). The air conditioner is only in the master bedroom. So you have to keep its door open and the ceiling fans on. It was quite adequate for us during our stay in December-January. It is a nice place for a short stay. Geri, the host, responded quickly via airbnb and gave us directions. Having GPS is very important in Costa Rica. There are very few road signs.

Geri's place in Tropical River Paradise is exactly as described! If you are looking for an authentic local experience, this is the perfect place for you! The property is huge with a river right outside your door that you can swim in. It's about 20 minutes from the main city of Quepos, which was nice to be outside the hustle and bustle of a city. The caretakers of the property (Adrian and Juliana) were excellent hosts. They were super accommodating, helpful, and attentive. We wanted to explore Manuel Antonio Park and they were gracious enough to introduce us to their good friend, who is also a registered guide at the park. They also provided us with great recommendations for restaurants, beaches, and things to do in the area. Adrian led us on a tour of the property and shared his knowledge of local flora and fauna. Ask him to give you a night tour as well to see the animal nightlife! Adrian and Juliana definitely made us feel like a part of their family. Our side of the duplex was very spacious. The bathroom is clean and well kept. Our room was very comfortable as well! When you have the window shutters closed, absolutely no light comes in which was perfect for sleeping in! Set an alarm if you need to wake up at a particular time. :) We were able to met Geri since she happened to be staying at the property when we visited. We enjoyed speaking with her about her experiences in Costa Rica and back home in Canada. Overall, an amazing experience for us! It was exactly what we were looking for as far as having a unique local cultural experience. We plan to come back to visit!

Tropical River Paradise describes the property perfectly. I discovered this first-class gem by looking for a place with a/c that was in the campo to be closer to nature. Quepos seems a million miles away, but you can drive there in only 15 minutes! The rustic duplex cabin is spacious with modern furnishings, kitchen, a/c, nice bathroom, good hot water, gas grill, and a great covered porch rings the building. A beautiful, clean mountain stream flows right by the dwelling. When I first sat under the trees by the river, I was lost in time with my thoughts and serene feelings. Later visits down the short trail included sitting in the shallows enjoying the perfect water temperature and photographing the stream, butterflies, hummingbirds and waterfalls to capture some fraction of the beauty to remember later. Tropical vegetation arrangements merge with the natural growth, creating a lovely landscape. Natural rocks line trails and highlight the gorgeous plants. The trails and walking space along the river next to the cabin were so helpful in accessing the features of the property. Adrian and Juliana, the caretakers, make you feel like family, while managing the property to a high professional standard. Both formerly worked for years at one of the fine hotels in Manuel Antonio. Great formula: If you want professional management, hire professionals. A tilapia pond near the cabin is for guest use. Adrian and Juliana provided poles and bait for guests to catch fresh tilapia. They even bait the hook! Adrian cleans the fish and is happy to cook them for guests, too. Whatever help the guest wants is happily provided. We took a fun hike on this large property to where we viewed the coastline all the way to Manuel Antonio Park. The hosts are excellent guides, and there are many interesting creatures and plants to observe. Ever seen a big bush, almost a tree, with large red flowers that “eat” insects. Venus Flytraps look pretty lame next to these big boys. The owner is continuing to develop responsibly only small parts of this large property. The rest is already returning to its natural state. Surrounding owners are also protecting much of their adjoining properties from development. This owner has permanently banned horses or cows from the land to eliminate contamination. Commercial agriculture was eliminated, too. I highly recommend this destination to all travelers, and I am already making plans to visit again. The spacious lodgings can easily accommodate groups of friends or families, since 2 separate areas are available with 2 bedrooms each. All bedrooms have queen beds that 2 could share. Or 1 side only could be rented for a perfect romantic getaway. Are you really coming to Costa Rica to stay next to a supermarket in downtown Quepos? Why not stay 15 minutes from Quepos, but feel like you are a million miles away from town and in the REAL Costa Rica with hosts that feel like your best friends?
