Stay warm and comfy in the West Tamar! Your own spacious, welcoming, private and self-contained suite of rooms on a small, rare breed pig farm with gourmet food producers! Close to Launceston, on the Tamar Valley wine route and the Spirit of Tasmania ferry. Breakfast provisions included - the longer you book, the more we provide! And a barbecue pack of our delicious pork products is available for purchase on request - includes nitrate free bacon and premium pork sausages, and farm eggs.
Our spacious and comfy guest rooms are in one wing of our house. You'll be staying in privacy and comfort with gourmet food producers on a small working farm in the Tamar Valley, Tasmania, near Launceston.
Guests have their own spacious living room with kitchenette, outdoor patio and barbecue, separate bedroom and guest bathroom (doubles as our laundry).
The kitchenette has a fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. Outside is a guest barbecue. We can suggest a variety of places nearby to enjoy lunch or evening meals, a short distance away by car.
The spacious guest bathroom is also our family laundry - we access during the day when you are out. You are welcome to use our laundry facilities.
This is a small working farm and food business on five acres. We raise rare breed pigs which we keep free range. You're welcome to visit the pigs with us during your stay.
Oliver makes Langdale Farm's gourmet pork sausages and bacon, stocked by premium outlets in northern Tasmania. He builds his own wood-smokers and will gladly show you them, possibly in action!
Provision included in the rate are cereals, bread, butter and jams, fruit juice, milk and of course tea and coffee. Book longer and we provide extras! We use Tasmanian produce as far as possible.
We offer gourmet barbecue packs of premium pork sausages and bacon, local eggs and tomatoes from the garden (in season). Buy and cook on the barbecue for breakfast or dinner. All meat are free range and nitrate-free.
Views across the paddocks, bush block with chooks free ranging, and vegetable garden. When fruit and veg is in season we're happy for you to pick and taste and occasionally we'll leave you an offering - raspberries, strawberries, pears, apples, salad leaves and more.
Visit the pigs and maybe even some piglets in the birthing shed! Feed the chooks who will be roaming around in the bush block - you'll find a jar of chook feed by the door.

While we like to respect your privacy, we are usually around and happy to help with visitor tips and recommendations. Oliver loves nothing more than to talk about pigs, pork, sausages and smoking! And Fiona can tell you all about local beauty spots, wineries and visitor attractions. If we are not available in person, we are both just a mobile phone call away. (Telstra offers the best coverage in Tasmania, other carriers may be patchy.)
We are happy to show you around the farm and give you a taste of rural Tasmanian life.

Your spacious guest bathroom is also our family laundry. While we keep this clean and tidy, we access it for use during the day while guests are out. You are welcome to do some washing too while you stay with us. We don't have a drier, but a large washing line in the vegetable garden and unlimited fresh air!
We keep some equipment (sausage machine, bacon slicer) in cupboards in our guest quarters. Once a fortnight we need to access these during the day, when we're preparing for a farmers' market. We do this during the day while you are out, so as not to disturb you.
This is a working farm, and it looks like one! The grounds are tidy but are occupied by sheep, chooks and pigs, and are not manicured gardens.
We have a farm dog, Allie, who is friendly. We welcome your dogs - please keep them on a leash to keep our livestock safe.
Langdale Farm is a family home and we ask that you respect our need for quiet after 8pm. You may hear the normal sounds of family life, such as children laughing, playing and occasionally tormenting each other.
We welcome your dog! We ask that it be on a leash at all times when outside. We're happy for you to bring your dog inside so long as it sleeps or rests on its own bedding, blankets etc. rather than directly on our furniture.
Wifi and internet access: we have wifi but ask that you don't download large data items. Checking messages and checking travel plans online is fine.
We are Fiona and Oliver Stocker, Brits now living in Tasmania. We have our own five acres in this idyllic corner of the world, where we raise rare breed pigs and where Oliver make delicious pork products. Fiona is a writer, working on her own projects and other people's.
