A little off the beaten path but a truly enjoyable, comfortable and welcoming feel. What a little gem!

My husband and I were delighted to stay at Stan's garlic farm in the beautiful valley. We wish could have stayed longer! It's such a serene setting and the tower guest house had everything we needed and more. We were greeted by their friendly pups and also had a great evening chat with Stan and his intern. The guesthouse has the bedroom and bathroom downstairs with the kitchen and living area upstairs. We enjoyed eating dinner with a view on the deck upstairs too. There were also farm fresh eggs and some other breakfast items in the fridge for us as well. And, of course, the garlic! Such a treat to stay in this unique setting - Thanks Stan!

We wanted to get away from crowded Colorado and spend the labor day weekend somewhere else, with our dog. It's so hard to find a place to stay with dogs, let alone a comfortable place to stay for both humans and dogs, so this place was perfect! Stan was a very welcoming host, and we immediately felt right at home. Everyone we met while we were on his farm were very warm and friendly. Stan had two dogs, and there were other dogs from the neighborhood, his guest's dog, etc, so our dog had lots of other dogs to play with. The guest house was perfect for two adults and a dog. Downstairs where the bedroom and bathroom are located stayed cool throughout the day, which was nice. We didn't cook anything, but the kitchen was fully equipped. Taos seemed closer than GPS said, so if you are visiting Taos with your pets, this place is still a great option. If you have an older dog, the spiral staircase might be hard to navigate, because it's rather steep and narrow, as you can see in one of the pictures. Other than that, I think this is a perfect place for anyone looking to get away! Oh, I have to mention that we loved the mattress! It was super cushy and comfy! We slept in more than we should have every morning. The river access to Rio Grande for water activities was 5 minutes away, and two wineries were within 3 miles. Check out the restaurant called "Sugar Nymphs" in Panasco. We went there for brunch, and were pleasantly surprised! Very good restaurant in a small town which seemed like a middle of nowhere. It was short, but a great visit. I'd love to go back there when they harvest the garlic.

Charming farm and tower/cottage. Delighted to find that the host thoughtfully stocks refrigerator with a few necessities and every thing one might need for an enjoyable stay was within arms reach. We enjoyed a few nearby hikes and the quiet tree lined dirt road for morning strolls with the pup. Keep in mind that this is a working farm so not a ton of privacy, lovely none the less.

The tower guesthouse is a relaxing, cozy retreat in the midst of beautiful countryside with many wineries and farms. The geology and micro-climates in this high desert region are fascinating....even if only driving through as we were for a day and a half. The place was clean, comfortable, efficiently laid out and well-stocked with all the necessities. We especially appreciated having access to a washing machine (and detergent), and cooking supplies, especially fresh eggs and yoghurt for breakfast, which we supplemented by lightly charring some green chile, avocado, and tortillas on the grill on the balcony. mmmmm. We were only visiting one night, but hope to come back to learn more about the farm and the surrounding area. Beyond that, Stanley was very helpful and easy to communicate with, despite fighting a bad cold, and his dogs were real sweethearts. Would highly recommend.

What a find! This little tower is a very special getaway. We only had one night but made the most of it--taking a run down the path along the river, eating breakfast on the small wraparound porch overlooking the sunrise. Stanley kindly gave us one of his books to read--and we can't wait to be transported back to this beautiful farm in such an enchanting town.

We've lived in the Embudo Valley for 40-some years, writing and farming. I'm originally from California, RoseMary from Australia, and our two grown children live nearby.
