Located at the junction of Lincoln Road and Collins Ave, in the Decoplage - a beautiful well-run building with 24-hour security, outdoor pool, private beach access, gym, party room, valet parking, package receiving, laundry facility on each floor. You can walk to everywhere but should you have a car, we have a valet parking spot* for the apartment.
Our 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartment is fully-furnished and all new! We’ve just completed a tasteful $125k floor-to-ceiling renovation in April 2013, with no skimping!! All the furniture, fixtures and equipment are high quality and new. Even the windows are brand new - hurricane grade and sound proof! The flooring is Italian porcelain; the kitchen, bar and bathroom cabinetry hand made locally by a US Navy Vet.
The décor is our take on “Tropical” – warm and welcoming with vibrant accents that Sulu has collected in her travels through 23 ½ °N to 23 ½ °S – from India, Sri Lanka, Africa to the Caribbean Islands and Costa Rica. The furniture is made from natural materials like repurposed wood, iron as fabricated mostly in the Tropics or the USA.
The 1,200 sq. ft. apartment is well laid out with a fully-equipped kitchen, bar with barware (sorry, no alcohol provided :), a spacious living room, a master suite with a King-size bed, a guest bedroom with 2 Full beds and a large balcony with ample seating. There is ample storage with wardrobes in both bedrooms and a coats closet with provision for your shoes, sporting equipment and utilities. The apartment is fully air-conditioned and both bedrooms have individual climate control and a fan.
The flat comfortably accommodates 4 to 6 persons in one King-size in the Master Suite and 2 Full beds in the Guest Bedroom.
The Master Suite is gorgeous! It is spacious with large windows that give you a view of the Atlantic Ocean, a beautiful King size bed made from repurposed wood, a 45” wall mounted TV and floor-to-ceiling wardrobes with an electronic safe for your valuables. The all-new bathroom is fitted with a bathtub, a Porcelanosa toilet, a large granite vanity counter with 2 full sinks, a medicine cabinet and storage below.
The second bedroom has 2 Full beds with beautiful wooden bed-end benches. There is ample storage for your kids’ or visitors belongings in the wardrobe. The guest bath is located across from the bedroom door and can also accessed by visitors. It is well-appointed with a glass shower enclosure and a spacious vanity with storage below.
The kitchen is our favorite! It opens into the bar and living room, so you are always with your family and friends. They can either sit at the bar counter across from you or watch TV in the Living room or take in fresh air in the balcony…
Sulu loves to cook for the people she loves, so the kitchen fully equipped with a beautiful LG electric cooktop, oven, microwave and refrigerator. Kitchen appliances are all Cuisinart and include a toaster, coffee maker, blender and chopper, a Magic Bullet for that quick shake before your run… There are Cuisinart pots and pans, measuring spoons and cups, glass food storage boxes and even some of Sulu's favorite spices for you to use!! Just use a clean, dry spoon… There is ample dinnerware, flatware and barware for you to use daily or entertain with.
The Living Room is open and airy with a 45” TV with comfortable seating for people, their cocktails and access to the balcony…

People registered as "guests" will not be able to access the gym.

This is a full floor-to-ceiling, gut-renovated apartment with all new appliances, furniture, fixtures and decoratives. We’ve put in a lot of love, effort and money into it… We want you to enjoy it, but take utmost care of the place and its belongings. You will be billed for any and all damage caused during your stay.
Please keep the air-conditioner on as far as possible, except when you have the windows or balcony door open. The humid air tends to condense and damage the ceiling and walls when the AC is not switched on. Stagnant humidity will cause mold and mildew in the airducts.
Definitely close all windows and doors and set the AC to 72°F/22°C each time you leave the apartment.
Always check the main door to the apartment behind you is locked. The building has great security and there are cameras everywhere (you cant pick your nose in the elevators or hallways without being seen), but who knows… The locks are new, there are no copies floating around.
* If you lose a key to the apartment there is a charge of $100 for the complete set to be replaced.
The sun comes in strong from the western window in the Living room late afternoon till sunset. We request you to close the blinds for those windows during that period. If you are going out for the day, definitely close those blinds.
The apartment will be cleaned once a week. The cost per cleaning by the Housekeeper is $125. Kindly refuse this service only if you are definitely going to clean it once a week. High quality and eco-friendly cleaning product can be found in the utility closet. This is important for the apartment to be clean and fresh for the next guest.
Use the appliances as described in the respective users’ manual.
The granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathrooms stain with oils, cream, and lotion. Please refrain from putting greasy jars and bottles directly on to them. You should find a couple of trivets for the purpose in the kitchen. Always use trivets for hot pots and pans.
Almost all the furniture is made of natural materials – wood, metal and fabric. Please, please use coasters provided to place your drinks and tablemats for your plates and cutlery.
As far as possible, eat on the bar counter and not on the sofa or beds. Remember, Miami is just North of the tropics and unwelcome visitors (cockroaches, bugs) will come even to high floors.
Honor system prevails!! If something is damaged during your stay, kindly alert Sulu as soon as possible, so that it can be repaired during your stay.
If you find something not working or damaged after your initial walk-thru with Maylen, please call me immediately. Take a picture, when possible, and send as proof.
We’ve left one toilet roll in each bathroom for your convenience. Kindly replace it before departure for the next occupant. Same for the kitchen roll.
Kindly water the plants at least twice a week or when the soil looks dry. They will also thank you! ☺
Kindly smoke on the balcony / terrace and not bring in any open ash or butts into the apartment. Please dispose all ash and butts in a safe and hygienic manner. Smoke smell in the apartment will cost you $500 as we will have to make it “smoke-free” for the next guest.
As a courtesy to the neighbors, please keep noise levels down.
Similarly, treat the building staff with politeness and they will respond accordingly.
If you are using Valet Parking, we recommend tipping the attendants $2-3 each time you bring out the vehicle.
All guests will need to be ID-ed and photographed. This is for your safety. So please cooperate with the security guards at the Front Desk.
And lastly, please, please don’t pee in the shower…

My name is quite a phonetic challenge, so most folks simply call me Sulu.

The apartment at the Decoplage is a deliberate effort to surround myself with all things tropical. I took great care to make sure that each piece of furniture and accent was from its historic place of origin and not a cultural rip off.
In doing up the new condo at The 1 Hotel & Homes, I pulled all stops and bought the best of the best in design and quality from some of my favorite stores - Ligne Roset, Natuzzi, Flou. The emphasis is on luxury and comfort.
I am a design junkie and take great pride that both homes are entirely my creations, with some priceless inputs from my loving husband, Kurien.
We both love art, design, music and of course, Miami Beach!!
