Hamble is the Mecca for sailing in the UK. In busy little village where there is a bustle of racing at weekends. The Royal Southern Yacht Club 4 mins walk away and the Royal Air Force Yacht club 2 mins. A short drive from Hamble is the well known "Jolly Sailor" pub, well known for the "Howards Way" TV series was filmed. Excellent food and river views. The Blue Star restaurant is a short walk away along the foreshore and beach which does excellent breakfasts, coffee and cakes. If you want to get over to Warsash rather than drive there is the pink ferry which runs daily. For children there is crabbing off the foreshore. There are also some very close yacht clubs who teach children to sail and worth a visit. (also adults!).
Must wear soft soled shoes or no shoes at all is best.
Easier to bring a soft valise rather than a suitcase on wheels
