Response to Christophe Review: Inappropriately, after the checkout time and after the cleaning company came to clean the apt they found Christophe was still in the apartment, at this time Christophe, sent me an e-mail asking if he stay in the apartment until 3:00 pm. “Hi Richard, Is it possible for us to have your apartment until 3 pm today? Our flight is this afternoon for Haneda and it would be a great help!” I told Christophe, guests, are checking in today so he needs to check out asap. When the cleaning people returned to the apt, later in the day as they could not clean the first time due to Christophe extended stay. They discovered the keys were gone. So I had to quickly make copies of the keys for the cleaning company. (Cost Approx. $70) As Christophe was the last person with the key and there was no luggage or person in the apt – we could only assume we forgot to put the keys in the locker, (I kindly requested he pay for lost keys, which is a reasonable request given the situation, and I sure most Airbnb hosts would have done the same) Later when we found the next guest had, in fact, had someone check in early and take the keys, we canceled the request and apologized to Christophe for the mix-up. However, After reading thru all the communication and review- we discovered - Christophe may not have lost the apt keys, but it was his direct neglect of the host rules that directly lead to the key mix up and put me out $70. After reconsidering all the fact, I would NOT recommend Christophe as a guest due to his neglect of house rules that put me out $70. What kind of guest would ask to stay until 3:00 pm after the check-out time (clearly stated as 10:00 am) had passed and after the cleaning company found that he has not checked out – A deceitful one.
