Life is too short to settle for generic lodging....and this little two bedroom cottage in the heart of the Midwest has all of the comforts of home -- and then some! (Hygge...its all about simple pleasures in life.) You have the entire property to yourself, complete with a fully appointed kitchen and laundry and large outdoor space for relaxing. Our hens will treat you to fresh brown eggs daily ...and copies of Marci Penner's Kansas Guidebook are by the beds to encourage exploring in Kansas!
Two bedrooms (with plenty of pillows), fully appointed kitchen & laundry facilities, shared bath, full living room with additional fold-out sleeper sofa, TV/DVD, cable and high speed wireless internet. Outdoor amenities include a grill, picnic table, outdoor furniture, a firepit for stargazing and S'more (URL HIDDEN) well as a life-sized "Jenga" game and yard dominoes for hours of entertainment!
If you will be arriving early enough for a fire, and the weather is cooperative....Gary will light the firepit for you to enjoy!
When you make reservations at the Guest House, you will be assured that it is all yours...the kitchen, laundry facilities, everything! A great way to make your next stay more affordable.
Guests will have access to the entire property. The entire home will be theirs for their stay, as well as the outdoor amenities. We supply some snacks and breakfast supplies, including fresh eggs from our small flock of hens.
Because our tiny town doesn't have a grocery store (it is 11 miles away)....we try to keep the cabinets stocked with necessities for our guests...and provide seasonal snacks at check-in (Iced Tea/Cheese and Crackers in the summer....and Hot Cider/Cookies in the Winter).
Please let me know if you have any specific allergies or food restrictions I should be aware of.

We always try to be on site when our guests arrive to give them a tour of the house and make sure that all of their questions are answered. We try not to hover or bug them...but are always right across the street (and only a phone call away) should they need anything. If for some reason we will not be on hand...we will let them know in advance.
We do have a little white dog...Annie, who lives with us across the street. She has been known to bark up a storm....but will not come over without us (she's a sweet little rescue Westie.)
There are always fresh eggs in the fridge from our hens...but you are also welcome to our garden fresh goodies in season. (Gary is the one with the green thumb.)

Situated in the heart of America...this little town will give you a taste of rural America with it's wide open skies and rolling wheat fields dotted here and there with family farms. I FINALLY found a Vintage Schwinn 2-seater bike for you to tour the town with!Perhaps you'll peddle up to Evie's for a beer...or stop off at our unique "Tiny Free Library" and take a book home to enjoy.
Something important to note: Gary and I have 5 children....and 5 grandchildren...we DO NOT charge extra for little ones. ( I always hated that when we were traveling and staying in hotels.) Only for those 16 and older.
We will be happy if you treat the Guest House as you would your own home, you are welcome to use the outdoor amenities as well as everything in the house...and simply leave it as you found it. The Guest House is NON SMOKING, to comply with insurance. You may have pets if they are kenneled (the Laundry room is quite large and has adequate room for pet kennels) and there is plenty of room outside in which to exercise them. I will wash all of bedding, towels, etc. -- and take out the trash, sweep, etc. The only additional thing to mention is that the Washer has a habit of getting off-balance and "walking" away from the wall...please be careful to load it evenly and listen if it becomes off-balance so you can redistribute the load.

I love to travel, to read non-fiction, and to plan events! My husband and I have recently opened a Guest House (B&B we don't live in) and are enjoying meeting new friends and fellow travelers. Most of my travel is within the US, but I have recently been to India and loved it! I am employed in the Economic Development and Tourism industry and enjoy spending time with my family.
I have a little rescue dog named Annie; can't function without coffee; am a big fan of wine by the firepit; and JUST bought a little Glamper ( a vintage 65 Shasta camper) that I have "glamped up".
