Bookings are now available for the Christmas and New Year period, so if you fancy a break in an idyllic, quiet, rural setting we have a comfortable en-suite room for you.
Coombe Brook is a beautiful, listed detached house, dating back to the 1700s. It is situated in the countryside about 15 minutes walk from the South Devon coastal town of Dawlish. Despite its age, it's a comfortable family home looked after by actor and psychologist Tim, musician and teacher Viv, teenage son and daughter Dario and Lara, and two affectionate labradors – Scrumpy and Marmite!
We have two possibilities for guests – a double (or single) room, with en-suite bathroom. A second very large bedroom on the top floor has a shared bathroom.
The house has many original features – fireplaces, claw-foot baths and even a well in the parlour! Breakfast (consisting of cereal, juice, home-made bread and preserves, tea and coffee and included in the price) is served in our music room and overlooks the front walled garden. A full cooked breakfast with eggs from the hens next door and sausages from Woodland Farm is offered for £8 per person. Evening meals are available by arrangement.
We are in a lovely spot for those who like walking and cycling, and indeed swimming! We can give you lots of ideas about places to visit, being in easy reach of Dartmoor, and equidistant from Exeter and Torquay. If you are arriving on South Devon railway (which stops in Dawlish) we will collect you from the station and take you back at the end of your stay.
