My husband and I grew up on the east coast (Florida and Connecticut), and moved to the Midwest. We are raising our 4 children there (and shortly sending our first off to college), but enjoy our family time skiing and hiking in Utah at our second home. We spend large family gatherings there during the holidays and when we can find the time to go. We are active, but what we like best about our house is the quiet and relaxation. The neighborhood is so private, that you feel like you are the only ones there sometimes.
We have donated our house for various charity fundraisers, and we try to make our visitors' stay feel like their home. Because it is our home, we welcome our guests to use our kitchen staples like spices and condiments, which helps immensely when trying to prepare meals....there is no sense in buying those things when you are only staying for a short time! Although our children are growing up, we still have kept some of the baby necessities around like the pack-n-play and stairway gate. There's plenty of fun things for them to do like use our traditional sleds in the winter, or croquet in the summer. It's all about family, after all.
