Cozy Swedish country cabin with big garden, 3 minute walk to lake with child friendly swimming. Close to forest walks. 45 minutes drive from Stockholm. Sauna, fire place, fully equipped kitchen.
The standard is simple with limited indoor plumbing.
Minimum stay is 3 nights.
Very cute and picturesque summer house about 45 minute drive north of Stockholm. Sauna. Working indoor fire place. 3 minute walk to lake and swimming spot. Very close to hiking trail, Roslagsleden.
Big garden, 2900 sqm (0,7 acre). Lawn for games and an area with more trees that shield against the neighbouring houses.
THE HOUSES (both are for your private use when you rent the property):
House 1: Built 1964. 36 sqm.
Living room with working fire place, dining table for 4-5 and comfy big couch that can turn into a double bed. Alcove with two bunk beds (4 beds). Fully equipped kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, water boiler, coffee brewer, sink with hot and cold water, big fridge and freezer. Big veranda with dining table - under roof with space heaters. Great for days that are either too sunny or too rainy.
House 2: Built 1980. 42 sqm.
Big bedroom with 2 double beds (120 cm wide each).
Toilet room with dry drop toilet. Sauna + washing room with shower with hot and cold water. Also a room for storage and tools - good for craft work...
This place is great for a simple life. The running water is limited on the property (updates were made 2015 so the reviews before then were of the house when there was no running water inside).
There is a shower in House 2, and a sink in the house 1, that both have hot and cold water, but there is no water toilet or bathroom sink. The water heaters are small so you might have to wait a while in between if many people want to shower.
Tap water is acceptable and safe for drinking but is heavy in iron so it has a color and taste that makes it not ideal as drinking water. I always keep plenty in big containers that can be filled up at the local gas station (but most guests don't have to refill during their stay).
This place is wonderfully nostalgic and the standard is quite common in Swedish summer houses. But it might not be for people who are looking for easy comforts.
This is a non-insulated summer house and recommended for rentals May-October. (April and November could be possible depending on the weather). Heating is done with fire place and electric heaters. If you arrive late in the evening on a cold day the first night might be a bit cold, but there are of course lots of blankets.
If you come in September-October, my favorite past time is forest walks and mushroom picking (autumn chanterelles) or just hanging in and around the house, cooking, playing board games, relaxing etc. Some people rent this house in order to get work done, like writing on a book. It is perfect for that as it is so quiet out here.
It is possible to buy a 1 week mobile surf for about 200-300 SEK in Stockholm or Åkersberga. Telia, Halebop and 3 Networks have worked okay enough for checking email in the house. It's probably too slow for streaming video, especially on rainy days.
SHEETS AND TOWELS:
Sheets and towels are not included. Since it's hard to take care of the laundry when I am not there I prefer if you bring your own bed linens. If that is not possible they can be rented for 70 SEK for a single set and 100 SEK for doubles ($10-15). Bath towels for 30 SEK.
There is no cleaning fee but you have to leave the place as you found it, which means do your dishes and put away, wipe down all counters, sink and tables, take out trash, vacuum clean the floors and fold blankets that you used. All electricity has to be turned off, especially sauna and water heaters. If this is not complied with, part of the deposit will be kept to cover costs of cleaning and extra electricity bill.
Unfortunately I do not allow pets as some future guests might be allergic.
You have full access to both houses and no one else will be on the property when you rent it.
But I do use this house myself in between guests so there are some clothes and personal items around.
Общение с гостями
I will not be around during your rental, but I have left a folder with information on how everything works. You can also reach me, or my father (who has a house only 5 km away) on our cell phones should you need to.
• No smoking in the house. There is lots of outdoor space for that but please don't throw cigarette butts on the ground.
• Be mindful and nice to the neighbours :)
• No pets allowed.
• If you play loud music a lot, there is a possibility that the closest neighbours will complain if they are out there. If that happens, please respect their wishes.
• Nothing but toilet paper can be put in the drop toilet.
Before you leave:
• Make sure water and heat is turned off.
• Do all the dishes and put away.
• Wipe down counters, tables and sink.
• Vacuum clean all the rooms. You can walk in with shoes if you want, but you should leave it without any trace of that.
• Take away recyclables and take out garbage.
• Put used sheets in the laundry basket if you have rented sheets. Shake and fold blankets in the beds.
• Complete list in the house, main rule is "leave it as you found it, ready for the next guest". If not, a cleaning fee will have to be kept from your deposit, which will have to cover having someone drive out there and clean after you.

Lotta is originally from Sweden, Drew grew up in Florida and California. Now we both live in New York City, in the wonderful East Village, since several years back. We are both avid world travellers, so we know pretty well what visitors are looking for in a place to stay. Since we live in the area where we rent we know a lot of the local spots and will gladly share our favorite picks with you.
We started off with two AirBnB accounts but have now joined forces! That is why some of our reviews talk about Drews place and some about Lottas. When you contact us you will get a very quick response from Lotta. She is the star emailer! If you decide to book with us you will (when he can) be met by a smiling Drew. He takes a joy in making sure our guests settle in okay.
We think we make a pretty good team and so far our guests agree with us. And we intend to keep it that way.
