The entire house was listed for XMas 2016. The gentleman demand for one night in September was surprising.
And he knew, before paying, he was going to have access to the 2nd floor with specific listing of beds available (3 rooms and bathroom and living room in the ensuite) as a German travelor was already in the greenhouse with access to the 1st floor bathroom.
Here is our exchange . The paiement occured after the precisions but before the end of it.
We are just visiting family that live in Montreal. We will be catching a show and having dinner.
Hi, how many beds do you need?
4 or at least 3 with a sofabed
I'll have a queen bed, a double bed, a single bed. Is it ok ?
A travelor actually here from Germany and leaving on Sunday will sleep on the 1st floor (greenhouse) so you'll have for your family the 3 rooms on the 2nd floor - queen, double, single bed. There is a private bathroom with the ensuite (queen bed) on 2nd floor.
The greenhouse travelor uses the 1st floor bathroom.
Ok is the living room separate?
There is a living room in the ensuite , but the main living-room is next to the Kitchen space on 1st floor. The greenhouse is 4 Steps below the living-room .
The greenhouse has its privacy, separated with doors from the living-room .
Ok just wouldn't want to be imposed on
This is why i'm making it clear ;-)
The German had dinner in the dinning room, that I cooked for her on bbq on the balcony, the only two of us inside. The evening was great; there were 2 other tables outside (patio, terrasse) available if the gentlemen didn't want to join inside.
I tought I was welcoming a family from NY, and that's what I told my neighbours. That's what I wrote in my exchanges with the gentleman, which he didn't correct. When they asked to see the house, I answered it is the same then on the pictures. One said they didn't see them.
I insisted in how quiet this area is, one told me they were too.
I offered them brakefast the next morning (homemade waffles, smooties and jams) and the gentleman asked if it would be "plain waffle" saying something about eggs and sausages.
There are 5 houses in my dead-end street. I wasn't expecting at all a group of 4 mature men -my neighbours neither.
For the 1st time in 7 years, neighbours walked to my garden, as the arrival of the party of 4 surprised everyone, and addressed the situation.
The female German guest wasn't happy to sleep, for her 5th night here, alone with 4 men. So I stayed nearby. The gentlemen asked me where I would be If there was to be any problem. I said I would be in the garden (hamac or tent).
When the gentlemen walked up to their rooms, everything was ok. But it didn't last 20 minutes when 3 ladies came in.
The female German guest woke up, her patio-door to the outside next to the parking where guests talked, laughed (and smoked?), ( I saw someone running from the dead-end in the street toward my house)... all those back &forth from upstairs to outside by 7 guests (not 4) lasting untill morning.
So I sat in the corner of the dinning room, reading, from 03:15 to 6:00, until the back&forth in&outs stopped, waiting everything goes back to normal in this family house located on an extremely quiet dead-end street.
One had told me they would leave early in the morning, I said the German had a bus to catch by 10:00 so would be leaving an hour before. The gentleman said they would be gone by 10:00 as they had to drive to NY for giving another show at night. I presumed they would come back from their evening, go to bed as other guests did before them, sleep 7-8 hours then leave.
If I had known a family of 4 wasn't the guests I welcomed, I wouldn't have authorise the match.
***I'll ask more questions next time.
They were a group of co-workers driving up to Montréal for hosting a comedy show, as comedians. With the on going lifestyle. The first contact didn't mentionned anything of that.
I don't think they were treated as criminals, not my intention nor my thoughts. Maybe more as teenagers not dealing properly with a different context than the one initially planned and, more, which continued to change during the night. Money involved had both of us dealing with an unwanted situation.
Since, I'm the one dealing with unpleased neighbours, cleaning 2 bathrooms (as one of the man showered on the 1st floor's bathrooms, a circle of dirt around the jet bath on 2nd floor), finding weed in/around the toilet -as well as urine on the floor, javellising makeup from white pillows, fighting daily against fatigue due to sleep depravation and the stessful presence of ladies, and the over all huge amount of stress of the situation, reconsidering my global experience on Airbnb to continue or not, affected this past 7 days by this disaster and after that, as a never ending situation, their comment of our both disastress expérience.
I have to keep in mind the 9 previous other experiences, very positive and easy-going.
For sure, the product I offered wasn't meant at all for these clients (whom 3 out of 4 haven't been ID verified, turned out being 7), even If had been precised in the specificity of the situation before they paid in the written exchanges we had.
Having known they were as unhappy has I was, I would have had given them their money back and nothing of this "nightmare' wouldn't have happened.
*** Next time, if so, let's all be more explicite.
