Step back in time and stay in our medieval 15th century castle. Located in The Ancient East, it combines old charm with modern comfort.
With its own entrance and winding staircase, it is located on a working dairy farm and is wonderfully peaceful and relaxing. Being close to the mountains, coast, historical sites and towns, it has so much to offer and is in a perfect location to tour from. We look forward to giving you a warm Irish welcome or as we say here in Ireland ' A céad míle fáilte!'
Tybroughney Castle is a 15th century Tower House or Keep situated on the banks of the River Suir, along The Leinster Way and is part of The Ancient East. It is approximately 1 km from Piltown, Co. Kilkenny. It is a perfect place to break your journey en route from Dublin to Dingle (Kerry) or from Shannon or from The Wild Atlantic way back to Dublin.
The castle is located on a busy dairy farm. You can relax in tranquility or take a stroll around the farm (wellington boots supplied!) We have three dogs and a horse. My husband Louis and I have three grown up children and live in the adjoining house and will be on hand to help in any way we can and answer any questions you may have. We look forward to having you as our guest and giving you a warm welcome.
There are two adjoining bedrooms, (open plan), one double (6ft bed) ensuite and one small double (4 ft 6 bed). The shower is electric. There is a private entrance and there are 25 steps up the winding stone staircase to the bedroom. Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor with a log burning stove. Guests have full access to the upper floors of the castle and can enjoy the spectacular views of the River Suir, Slievenamon and The Comeragh Mountains from the parapet.
Check-in is between 4pm and 6pm unless by prior arrangement.
The castle was built in the 15th century so it is old and quirky and not perfect but it is a real castle! We hope you will enjoy a unique and rewarding experience in our much loved and carefully restored home.
