We had a great time at Alberto's place. It's beautiful and clean, with a spectacular view, and tastefully decorated. The staff cleaned the house nicely every day of our stay. Of all the beaches in Puerto Escondido, Carizilillo is the most beautiful by far, and we felt spectacularly lucky to have it just down the road from us (although those stairs are a doozy!). Since negotiating taxis can be difficult when you don't speak Spanish, we ended up renting a car so we could get between beaches easily and drive to the hustle and bustle of Zicatela at night (although even if you get a tourist price, taxis are still cheap by American standards).
Only a couple of small complaints. The hot tub was dirty when we arrived and it took a couple of days for them to clean it so it was usable. And, there was constant noisy construction all day every day. Not exactly "Tranquillo" as we were promised. But we were told that's because we visited during the off season, so it's probably not a problem if you go during high season.
