LA CASA DI TUFO is a unique medieval palazzo that was built in the 5th century where you can experience the atmosphere of the past yet have all the modern comforts of today. Each room has marvelous views of a private garden and of the medieval part of town. There is a radio in every room as well as private bath with massaging showers and foot massage. There are stone arches, original wooden ceilings and other medieval architectural elements as well as TV and exceptional WIFI access in the living room. The breakfast is a mix of Italian (pastry and cappuccino) and continental (bread, cheese, yogurt, granola, and fruit). The house is in the center of Orvieto within a few minutes walking distance to all the famous sights, including the grand Duomo (cathedral) with its famous frescoes of Signorelli, multiple museums, the underground caves, monuments, Etruscan ruins, the famous well of St. Patrick (Pozzo di San Patrizio) as well as many others. If you like archeological places we can organize a guided tour to some Etruscan cemeteries or to the caves of the famous “Fanum Voltumnae,” the most important spiritual Etruscan place, which was discovered in Orvieto after excavations of more than 50 years. If you want to relax after a morning of walking you can go to the hot water springs in the surrounding countryside of Orvieto (35 minutes by car). After that we can recommend to you a typical local restaurant where you can eat pasta like your grandmother used to make. We can also book a guided tour to a local Umbrian vineyard for you to enjoy wine tastings. Within Orvieto’s historic center there are many charming intimate restaurants where you can experience delicious authentic Umbrian cuisine which often includes truffles, porcini mushrooms, fresh vegetables, new olive oil and a terrific selection of wines from Umbria and Tuscany. The owner of LA CASA DI TUFO has a truffle dog and if you want she can show you the dog finding truffles in the woods. If you completely fall in love with Italy and want to stay for a longer visit, you can also learn Italian cooking at a nearby cooking school. After the second night there's a discount of 10 euros: the room is for 40 euros.

As we mentioned breakfast, we mean thet into the cottage you're going to find all the essential to prepare thje breakfast by yourself: coffee, milk, tea and bread. The apartment is located on the 2nd floor of the building in via Vallepiatta 6, in the heart of the Contrada della Selva. It is easily reached by a convenient escalator Fontebranda, near the parking lot of St. Catherine. The output of the escalator is about 30m from the main entrance of casacenti. We provide the Pink or Green room (double bed or twin beds). TV, bathroom, fan, mini-fridge, panoramic view. Check-in 10:00-20:00 hours It may be possible that until 14 o’clock the room is not ready. You can, however, download the luggage and use the service bathroom. Alert in case of check in after 20:00 Unfortunately we do not have a parking lot for guests. Our small B & B is located in the historical center, in a restricted traffic area. You can come with your car entering from Porta S. Marco only to load and unload luggage. Then you have to park outside the ZTL. The parking fee is the closest parking in S. Caterina, Via EsternaFontebranda, but it is very expensive (1h € 2.00. Rate hotel 1Day € 25.00). In the small square in front of the exit of Santa Caterina, you can find free parking spaces bounded by white lines. This area is connected to the way of the B & B with an escalator. If you do not have much luggage I should go directly to the parking lot. If you arrive by train, from the station you can: -take a taxi (about 10 €); -take a bus to Piazza del Sale and Piazza Gramsci and then walk 10 minutes; -A Foot (about 25 min.)
