Our extended family of 14 stayed for 10 days and had a great time. A three minute walk to the beach was the highlight for the kids. The beach was never crowded, had sand expanses to spread out on and able to wade into the surf quite aways. When we were back at the bungalow, the pool was almost always in use. The place is private, but Karla, Alberto and Luis were available whenever we had questions.Karla is an amazing chef and we had many of her meals. Meals were well balanced with delicious fresh juicy fruit. She offered to make American food, but the Costa Rican recipes were too good to pass up. Even the picky eaters had plenty to eat. They were helpful in lining up outings for us and transporting us to a health clinic when our youngest arrived feeling sick. They made us feel like family and welcome. We picked Johnny's Beach Bungalow because we wanted to have a Costa Rican experience that put us in touch with Costa Rican people and culture. We were not disappointed

5 Stars – Unforgettable Beachside Retreat! We had an absolutely fantastic stay at this beautiful home in Palm Beach Estates! Dirk was an exceptional host—always quick to respond and incredibly helpful throughout our visit. The house is just steps from the beach, making it easy to enjoy the ocean anytime. We especially loved the outdoor grill area—it was perfect for cooking up the fresh red snapper we got from the local fish truck. So delicious! The pool was a major highlight for our family. The colorful lights at night made it feel magical, and we spent many evenings playing Marco Polo with our girls—such great memories. The property was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything we needed. The neighborhood felt safe and peaceful, with great access to local spots and the beach just around the corner. We can’t wait to come back and highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a memorable beach getaway!

Awesome place to stay! Beautiful view! A short walk to the beach and some local shops - it is a steep hill, but there are stairs. Staff and other guests were extremely helpful and friendly. There was more than enough room for our family of four. When we needed assistance with an air conditioner, Floribeth was quick to respond, and had a repair person there in no time - problem fixed immediately. We were not planning on returning to Costa Rica, but after our stay, we fell in love with the area and people, and can't wait to return. Floribeth gave us precise directions, found it right away. You will not want to leave here. Thank you Floribeth!!

This was by far one of the most beautiful AirBnB's we've every stayed at. It really felt like a mini resort. We had two families, and everyone was able to have their own room and space. Most of our time was spent in the gorgeous pool or in the outdoor kitchen. The pictures are accurate, but everything is more wonderful than the pictures. There is wildlife everywhere - gorgeous birds, geckos, howler monkeys down the street. The pantry off the kitchen protects your food, and we had no problems with bugs (we were told it was the time of year). We did have a couple of friendly birds that begged for food, but they were amusing to watch. The location, though remote, is in a gated community and was very safe. It was only a 10 minute walk to a beach that seemd almost private...not more than a few dozen people at a time on a beach that had to stretch for a mile. Do not hesitate to rent this place!!!

This house is situated on a fantastic, uncrowded beach. It stretches on for long beach walks, the sand is soft, the waves are perfect for boogie boarding, and the water temperature is warm. Each day of our stay we boogied boarded for hours with maybe 15 other people in sight. In the evening there are beautiful sunsets. The outdoor space of the house is great for cooling off in the small pool or relaxing in the hammock. The house is located in a gated community inhabited by tourists, so in order to experience authentic Costa Rican restaurants or culture one must drive to a neighboring town about 15 minutes away. The house itself is as described but be aware no amenities (shampoo) are provided with the exception of small soap discs. The beach itself made our stay wonderful.

We had the best time staying in the house! It was perfect for our group, and love that everyone had their own separate spaces. Highly recommend!

Loved the house and location. Extremely well-equipped kitchen and some refreshments waiting for us in the fridge. RCV arranged a guided tour for us at Rincon de la Vieja National Park for one day (including lunch, zip-lining, and the hot springs & mud baths) that was a lot of fun. Had dinner the first night at Father Rooster's on Ocotal Beach just down the hill from the house. We did a little cooking and used the bbq grill for a couple meals. There were a couple small problems: water was not turned on for one of the showers downstairs, the gas was not turned on for the stove (just had to open the valve on the propane tank on the other side of the wall from the stove), the A/C would trip off in the second bedroom upstairs, and the dishwasher wouldn't operate. RCV sent people promptly to address the issues, but unfortunately the dishwasher needed a new control board and couldn't be fixed during our stay. We would definitely stay in this house again.

We had a wonderful stay! The layout was perfect for us with a fantastic view of the ocean. The kitchen was well appointed as we had inhouse chef for three of our nights. We would stay here again. The condo had all the qualities we were looking for.

Our stay was absolutely perfect! The location couldn’t be better, just steps from the beautiful beach. We were warmly greeted upon arrival with a tour of the home, which was spotless and perfectly set up for our family. Everything we needed for the beach, towels, chairs, and more was provided. Any questions we had about the area were answered quickly and helpfully. This place is now incredibly special to our family as our daughter got engaged here during our stay! We would stay here again and again — highly recommend!

OBSESSED. The views, the space, the communication, the location… y’all. We’re sooooooo happy with our stay!!! We felt like kids in a candy shop exploring this house. It’s just SO beautiful. The decor and amenities inside are super thoughtful. The views are breathtaking!! We loved sitting on the porch sipping coffee, reading, etc. We loved the proximity to Father Rooster’s—a sweet little restaurant close by. It’s super tourist-friendly, but still felt authentic. Check in was smooth, after making contact with the on-site security (which we greatly appreciated!!). Communication with our host throughout the process was flawless! A couple of things to note: 1) The A/C units worked perfectly in the bedrooms; keeping the main living area cool during the heat of the day was a little tougher. But you are in Central America, after all! 2) The main bed was too soft for us. 3) Keep in mind that CR is a developing country, this house is on the edge of the neighborhood, and CR driving is nutty!

We stayed here with another family—10 of us total with kids ranging from 7 to 13—and absolutely loved it! The house was amazing. Everyone had plenty of space to spread out, but the real magic happened in the outdoor area where we all came together to eat, swim, and hang out. The kids would've spent all day in the pool and at the beach. We even got to watch March Madness, which was a huge bonus! The hosts were super communicative and helpful throughout our stay, and Jenny the housekeeper was wonderful—so sweet and welcoming. Her gallo pinto for breakfast was delicious and worth organizing. The only downside was the road leading off the highway into Hacienda Pinilla—definitely the roughest stretch we encountered during our trip across the country. It’s still accessible by 4x4 and even a car, just something to be aware of. Overall, we had an incredible stay and would absolutely come back. Highly recommend for families or groups traveling together!

Muy buen lugar y el departamento espectacular. Lo recomiendo 100%. Sin duda lo mejor que se puede encontrar en tamarindo. Como crítica constructiva, sería ideal la reposición de amenidades para el baño y la ducha.

This place was absolutely perfect for our surfing trip!! Private beach access, beautiful yard looking out to the ocean and spacious home. The hostess was responsive and communicative and very friendly and helpful if we had any questions. I hate to write this review as I don’t want anyone else to know about the place as I would like to keep it to ourselves next year. ☺️. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here. Absolutely a wonderful place and wonderful hosts!!

Magical Place Our week in Maria’s home was absolutely magical. Situated at the end of a sandy cove, we had excellent ocean access and amazing privacy. The home was so comfortable, with A/C in the bedrooms and breezy, beautiful living spaces in the rest of the house, deep decks with plenty of seating for meals, and tiny little spots under trees and bushes scattered throughout the ample yard. Our three generation gathering relished the pool, the beach, the yard games, and plenty of board games and art projects throughout the week. Maria’s recommendations for cooks and transportation were excellent. Maria was shockingly responsive…even sending someone over with two bags of ice when the ice-maker was a little slow for our needs. We were blessed with regular sightings of monkeys, lizards, birds, crabs, and dragonflies. We were so lucky to come upon this magical place that fully met all our needs, and exceeded our expectations.

To say we had a fabulous stay would be an understatement. The location was perfect (not too busy, but not too far from restaurants/shopping etc) and Shawna was super helpful in all aspects of our stay including great local restaurant and excursion recommendations (local horseback riding ranch was phenomenal as were our surf instructors!). Tatiana was amazing and her cooking was delicious (highly recommend utilizing her cooking-I am still dreaming about her Arepas). We always felt safe and comfortable at the house and it was perfect for our group's two young families (kids ages 9, 8, 5, 4 and 3). The house also had easy to carry beach chairs, sand toys, boogie boards and games. The living area/kitchen was a great hangout space and the outside spaces were also wonderful. So sad to have to leave but will hopefully be back in the future! Thanks for a great stay!

We had an amazing stay at Villa 10 at Bahia Pez Vela. We had high expectations based on the pictures and prior reviews and our stay still exceeded our expectations. This is definitely up there with the best AirBNB's we have ever stayed at. The unit was very clean and the location within the resort is perfect because you can access the beach, the beautiful pool area, and the on-site bar and restaurant in seconds. You will have a private patio with shade and a great seating area that overlooks the ocean, and the main bedroom has a balcony overlooking the ocean. Everyone at the resort was very helpful and accommodating. We rented snorkeling equipment one day from the office and were surprised at how good the snorkeling was at the resort beach. Alvin's communication was excellent from beginning to end. Book it! You will not be disappointed.

We had a wonderful stay at Mono Feliz! The villa had everything we needed to have a relaxing, peaceful stay in Costa Rica. The beach, beach club, shops, restaurants, and town were all in walking distance. After enjoying the day with all the area had to offer, it was especially nice to come back to the villa to dip in the pool. Hosts, Jeff and Gina, were attentive to our needs along with onsite management, Justin. Pura Vida!

The home is located in Hacienda Pinilla, a very private gated community next to the JW marriott. The grounds are beautiful, with lots of trees and foliage. The house is very elegant, with high end finishes and well designed spaces. It was perfect for our family of six. Our favorite spot was the upstairs patio with lots of comfy places to sit and an ocean view. Beds are all very comfortable. There are three lovely pools in the complex, one adjacent to the property, and a beautiful beach just a short walk away. Tamarindo the town is very busy and quite popular with tourists, so it was great to be in a more peaceful setting. You do need a car or some transport to get to markets and restaurants as Tamarindo is a 20-30 minute drive. The auto Mercado is the Costa Rica equivalent of Whole Foods, again in the town. A highlight of our stay at the home was hanging out with a family of howler monkeys by the pool.

Situated down a small street and protected by a high fence sits this beautiful property. With mango trees and the sound of the Pacific Ocean as you fall asleep this is where you go to completely get away from it all. While it sleeps 10 (!) we were a family of 5 and enjoyed the serenity of this rustic location. Currently it has no air conditioning, which was actually just fine, but it will be coming in July. Now it's something like upscale camping and you will find nature making its way inside your rooms, so don't be surprised when you see ants on the walls or a crawly thing hiding in your pile of laundry. This is one of the oldest places in the entire town and you just have to embrace it. Because on the plus side Dona Flor makes amazing food and to get to the ocean you just have to open up the back gate and then come back to one of the two outdoor showers and relax in a hammock. It doesn't get more amazing than that.
