A bus stop outside provides direct access to Edinburgh, the University's Easter Bush Campus, Peebles, & Roslin Chapel. A frequent service to the city centre runs both day and night. The Pentland Hills and Penicuik Estate are a stones throw away, providing walks with panoramic countryside & city views. After a day's exploring you can relax and unwind in the pubs and restaurants nearby.

Craigiehall Temple (historic property built 1759)

Make your trip to Edinburgh truly memorable with a stay at Craigiehall Temple. Built in 1759 and situated in its own grounds on a former part of the Craigiehall Estate, its Grade A listed for its stunning portico displaying the arms of the 1st Marquess of Annandale. A plaque on the wall carries a quote from Horace: "Dum Iicet in rebus jucundis vive beatus", "Live happy while you can among joyful things". Eskfield is food for the soul, a fabulous, ancient property immersed in nature to provide a wellness experience like no other. Stay here in one of the most important features of the Penicuik Designed Landscape, a Palladian house built in 1714, harboured within a one and a half hectare walled garden. With a burn running through a beautiful wildflower meadow, this is a nature sanctuary that you will not want to leave. Nestled in the outhouses is a sauna leading to a handmade cedar hot tub.

Spacious, self-contained annex near Edinburgh

Barleydean Suite is situated in a private annex in a country house. At the edge of the Pentland Hills, you can hike from your front door, wander to the local pub or take a bus to Edinburgh. The suite has private access for guests. It has 1 bedroom with a super king-size bed for 2 guests. Up to 2 foldaway single beds can be provided on request. Maximum occupancy is 4 people. There is a kitchenette suitable for light cooking, with hob, microwave, Nespresso, toaster, and washing machine.
