We will forever remember our special stay at Maulie's place! We arrived late at night from our train ride from Colombo and Maulie picked us up from the train station and welcomed us with the most amazing dinner prepared under trees. We felt right at home! The food there is some of the best we had in Sri Lanka - especially the jack fruit curry! The birders cabin was the best as we felt like we were one with nature - the birds and insect sounds, the fire flies at night while you sleep under the mosquito nets. We also took the canoe onto the lake and it was the most magical serene experience! Maulie and her brother always made us feel so welcome and we would highly recommend this place for all nature lovers!

Samantha and Kauchi were the perfect hosts. On arrival were were given welcome drinks and Kauchi informed us of the local attractions, including the Hurulu eco park (where we visited and saw loads of wild elephants extremely close up and virtually deserted apart from 2 jeeps), Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya and pidurangala. The room was lush, the pool cooling in the heat, and the bird life amazing! We ate traditional breakfast in the train hut whilst the train drop off people (it's a delight to watch). We also had some of the best home cooked food we tried in Sri Lanka, fresh as it can be. We felt so well looked after, cared for, and relaxed in this chilled out environment. It's virtually a deluxe homestay, but more! Their ethos of living of their land with minimal waste was inspirational. I will remember the great chats had with Kauchi who's English is excellent. Out of the 8 places we stayed in Sri Lanka over 18 days this place is equal first 🥇 place. Thank you so much everything team 🙏 x

Stayed between 15-18th of April 2025. This is the second time I visited this property. Absolutely a gem of place to relax and unwind. The location is full of nature only the sound of the birds can be heard. The views are stunning with a beautiful lake in front and a large paddy field. An unspoilt village to show children how the rural village life goes about. There are plenty of bicycle for the guests to use FoC and Can take a bicycle ride across the village and on the bundt of the lakes in and around and enjoy the picturesque views of the lakes and the Galkiriyagama rock that spans for 7kms. During the night only the sound of nature you can hear. In the evening a dip in the lake with the villages is not to be missed. The property is very clearly kept. The food is absolutely tasty and made in a kitchen cleanly kept. Ideal place to enjoy traditional Sri Lankan Rice and Curry and other Sri Lankan food. A place definitely you want to revisit over and over again. Great value for money.

The Raintree Retreat is a real gem! The property is huge and therefore each bookable house comes with a lot of privacy. The nature is stunning with fishes, turtles, lizards, monkeys and so many exotic birds to watch (incl. Kingfishers). At nighttime we even saw many fireflies. And to our surprise there are hardly any moskitos thanks to the fishes. Beside this amazing nature-experience our highlight were the hosts and their utmost welcoming and caring manner. Sue and her husband are such lovely people and we enjoyed the time we spend together. Uthpala took us even to a nearby river and we had a dip in the fresh water together. Our kids loved it! On top of all that we were really blown away by the ultra yummy food. Home cooked srilankan dishes in the evening and a great breakfast, always trying to match our kids taste (not spicy and lots of waffles and pancakes ;-) Thanks again for making our holidays sooo great!

Es war wirklich schön bei Banda wohnen zu dürfen! Er ist ein toller Kerl mit dem Herz am rechten Fleck. Immer offen zu helfen, mit guten Ideen und Vorschlägen. Sehr zu empfehlen! Das Haus liegt wunderschön, ein Stück entfernt von der Hauptstraße. Das Bad ist wirklich sehr besonders und man sieht, wie viel Liebe in der Architektur steckt. Sehr gerne wieder! 😊

Had a lovely 2 nights at Yohann’s place. The house and grounds are beautiful in a very secluded area but easily accessible by car on well maintained tarmac. Chamara and Sampath were on site to help us check in and show us around the accommodation. They also provided a lovely bbq dinner on our arrival with excellent subsequent meals made completely according to our preferences. Would love to stay again and I’d highly recommend Yohann’s place.

My husband and I stayed at Jenneifer’s Airbnb for a second time, this time for four nights. We would highly recommend to stay here! It is peaceful and quiet with a beautiful view off of the deck. The highlight for us was the food! We had something different everyday for breakfast that was all delicious. We were also able to request dinner at a small additional fee, which was so convenient after a long day of travel. Jenneifer and her family were incredibly responsive and kind. They had such an amazing attention to detail and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They helped to arrange a tuk tuk for us get around. We hope to stay again!

Wat een prachtig huis op een geweldige locatie. Als je op zoek bent naar ‘iets anders’, dan is dit de plek! Het huis bevindt zich in een grote tuin waardoor je het gevoel hebt alleen op de wereld te zijn. De hosts waren zo ongeveer de liefste mensen die we hebben ontmoet en kunnen fantastisch koken. Aanrader!

Coconut Escapes was everhthing we could have wished for and more🥥 We stayed for 2 nights in actual paradise The staff were amazing, so friendly, super helpful, went above and beyond. Food was phenomenal, tried a big variety of Sri Lankan food and I couldn't fault it, including the floating breakfast which was such a treat! Drinks were lovely including fresh coconuts Surrounded by nature, beautiful coconut farm and a nice and peaceful break. Went on a complimentary tractor ride which was fun and they offered plenty of other activities but after a long flight we opted to relax. Pool was fantastic, we were also delivered a surprise blow up flamingo which was a lovely treat. Cannot fault this place. If in doubt book it!
