OMAIO - a place of peace

You will be relaxed and comfortable in this spacious and restful space in the Kuranda Rainforest. To protect our environment we are a no smoking, no pets property (Accredited Service Animals excepted). We live in the rainforest, surrounded by trees. It is a humid environment, frequently over 80% humidty outside and that creeps inside. While we manage that as well as we can, you may feel it at times. We understand that you may find the humidity unacceptable so offer free cancellation for you.

Jum Rum Place, Kuranda QLD

Kuranda, home to the Indigenous Djabugay people is tucked away within an ancient Rainforest. Jum Rum Place is located only 1.6km from the Kuranda village, North Queensland backing onto Jum Rum Creek Conservation Park where there are numerous species of birds, Striped possums, Suger Gliders, Pademelons with abundance of butterflies including the Ulysses and Cairns Bird Wing. The beautiful Jum Rum Creek Walking Track is close by which takes you into the Kuranda Village, only a 15 minute walk.

Casa Kuranda in the Rainforest

Our serene abode is a 5 min drive or a pleasant 30-40 min stroll to the picturesque village of Kuranda and the mighty Barron Falls. Your private quarters contain a kitchenette, bathroom and sizeable comfortable bedroom. On the deck you can sit peacefully, relax and observe the native wildlife; red-legged pademelons, brush turkeys and small reptiles. You will be delighted with the chorus of bird song and take great pleasure in sighting vibrantly colourful tropical birdlife and butterflies.

Kuranda Rainforest House

Luxury living in your own four acres of private rainforest. Once seated on the balcony at Kuranda Rainforest House looking down the mighty Barron River, you will immediately feel that you are truly in a private secluded space of your own. You will also most likely catch a glimpse of the beautiful Blue Ulysses butterflies that love to flutter around the rainforest, we’ve purposely planted many species of plants to attract these majestic creatures. Dine in the tree tops on the upstairs deck while planning local trips to Barron Falls, bush trails, local waterholes, Kuranda Railway, Skyrail Cableway, crocodile tours, and so much more. The house is a fully equipped, self contained retreat base ready for you to explore the wonders of North Queensland.

Singing Birds

Unwind in our peaceful self-contained guesthouse, set on 3 acres of tranquil greenery. Wake to the sound of native birdsong, cool off in the pool, and enjoy the chance to spot red-legged pademelons, striped possums and all the other wildlife surrounding the guesthouse. The guesthouse is private, comfortable, and perfectly located for exploring Cairns, Kuranda, Mareeba and the Atherton Tablelands. We live in the main house on the property and are happy to assist if needed.
