We LOVED our stay at the Depot! Though it is small, it's efficient and doesn't feel cramped or crowded--and still had everything we needed. Décor is eclectic and mismatched (which I found cute and homey), and it was all clean, usable, and arranged thoughtfully. The instructions for the lock and amenities were clear, so we had no trouble. With no TV set (though there is free WIFI and an Alexa device), a biking trail right outside, and water that took a minute to warm up, this sweet little rental encouraged us to be patient, relax, and take in our surroundings--definitely a good thing! The art sculptures around town were a fun surprise, too. Main Street was just a couple blocks away, where we had a delicious dinner at the Classic Café, and the service was great! We watched rabbits and birds, and chatted with cyclists visiting the biking trail. The atmosphere of the whole place is informal, welcoming, and friendly. We'd definitely stay again!

The location of the cottage is perfect to get to Water Street for food and shopping. The yard space was nice for my dog and the neighborhood was great for taking the dog on a walk - such beautiful architecture. As advertised, the stairs are steep, so be prepared for that. The next time I come to Decorah, I'll definitely book the cottage again!

If u need to scape from the city it’s perfect. Peaceful and easy to find. Just point out I found an insect on my bed I can’t identify what it was but it’s a place inside the woods I’ll say so understandable. Overall ok.

Great place to stay in a great area. We love NewBo and Czech Village is close by. We have stayed several times and always enjoy ourselves.

We knew our daughter (4 years old) had off school a couple days around Easter, so we figured we would do a mini family getaway together to make some happy memories. She loves trains and treehouses, so we asked her to choose which one she'd enjoy most. She happily chose the train caboose, and it was a great choice that we all appreciated! The area scenery is beautiful, Decorah has many great shops downtown, tasty restaurants that we enjoyed, and gorgeous scenery all over that we loved seeing as a family. We feel blessed to have found this fun location, and loved its charming look. The horses on the property were a delightful bonus too, as we are a family of animal-lovers.

The Acorn Cabin was the perfect overnight spot for our trip to Iowa’s Driftless Area. Kim and Mike are wonderful hosts, and we enjoyed our visits with them over our four night stay. The cabin is full of little details that immediately made us feel at home, and we looked forward to returning there after days spent exploring the beautiful surroundings! Be sure to watch the DVD about the Driftless Area that’s in the upstairs bedroom to gain an appreciation for the area. Decorah has small town charm with plenty of restaurant options…thanks to our hosts for some great recommendations! Last, but certainly not least, we loved having the Icelandic sheep right outside and enjoyed learning about them. Sleep came easy with the sound of their “baas”through the open windows. We’ll definitely be back for a return stay at the Acorn Cabin❤️

Our 3rd time there, says it all! Very convenient to 2 small local towns and close to a lake resort and a larger city. Easy to access interstate a few miles away. Local restaurant fare as well as fast foods, fancier dining experiences. Groceries etc nearby. Larry always reaches out to us to make sure all is well or to answer any questions. He's always been responsive to our needs. Top notch experience!

I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful place! It was the perfect escape to reconnect with nature and take a break from the busy outside world. We especially loved the sauna and kayaking on the pond. Thank you for sharing this peaceful retreat with us—we’d love to come back again!

We had an amazing stay!!! It was small but yet just enough space for the two of us. Definitely worth the drive and a great time.

We needed a place to unplug for a couple of days and it was perfect! Well equipped kitchen and charming nautical theme. Spacious backyard on a paved public trail. We visited off season to enjoy the quiet beaches, parks, coffee shops and a candy store.

Stay here often, always a pleasure.

It was very nice and looked like the pictures. The Dock Side restaurant has great food and everyone was very friendly! We really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again!

Great, secluded place. Very responsive and attentive host. The only real problem I had was the relatively small hot water reserve. You have to plan your shower and other activities involving washing and space them out, otherwise you end up getting nothing but cold water.

Great little place to stay for a couples getaway ! Everything you need to enjoy a stay in the area. We enjoyed using the firepit and listening to the birds in the trees. Plan to come back, next time we're in the area.

Decorah High Point Magnolia Cabin was perfect quiet get away for our anniversary! Beautiful cabin, wonderful views and wildlife. Very relaxing!

Peaceful. Watched deer, turtles, hawks and much more wildlife.

My husband has a disease that keeps us close to the university hospital in Columbia. We needed a relaxing night away yet close to Columbia. We found it here. The stars were gorgeous and the fire was cozy. Enjoyed the short stay. Will be back.

Jim (Zeke) was the most friendly airbnb host I’ve ever had! His property is absolutely beautiful - super cozy tiny home with an amazing view of the pond. Zeke was super accommodating with our check in/out times and gave us a tour of the property even when we arrived late at night. Please don’t use this space as just a place to sleep - plan to spend quite a bit of time exploring the trails around the property, enjoying the fire pit, and taking a swim in the refreshing pond. We are so grateful for how welcoming Zeke was, and will definitely be back!

I really enjoyed the secluded feel to the tiny home and it felt really cozy. I stayed there for several weeks but I think the place is more suited for shorter term stays since it runs on a gas generator. The tiny home had nice touches like low sensory lighting, a balcony off the bed and even hiking trails around the premise. I highly HIGHLY recommend trying the lavender farms cocoa mix. They provide you with some of their products in the Airbnb and that was a really lovely touch. I definitely want to come back and try out the treehouses.

Hygge Haus is a wonderful find! We have been traveling to Decorah for ever 6 years now - making multiple trips per year. Hygge Haus ranks right up there! We loved the distance from the main street, and yet it is easily walkable, and absolutely enjoyable in good weather. Hosts clearly think of every detail, and succeed in making you feel comfortable and at home. Lots of clear instructions and notes. The back garden is a nice little retreat as well. We would definitely recommend to anyone.

I stayed for a week and it was great. I will definitely stay here again.
