From the moment you see the Rio Grande River from our Great Room you know that your Rio Grande Retreat experience will be very special. Our house is located 20 minutes S of Taos and a half hour N of Santa Fe. Visit in the spring when thousands of flowers are in bloom; the summer when our orchard is producing a variety of delicious fruit; the fall when giant cottonwoods are ablaze with color; or the winter with the opportunity to ski at five different ski areas within an hour's travel time.

The Casita at Prado Verde Ranch

The Casita at Prado Verde Ranch has a rustic feel and will take you back in time. The ranch, located along the Chama River, is a 200-acre working ranch in Abiquiu NM. The main ranch house, well over 100 years old, is home to the Newell family and Newell Cattle. It is winter pasture and spring calving grounds for the cattle. The home site was originally settled by Bartolome Trujillo in the 1734. Pottery shards found in the pastures indicate that this site was a Native American settlement.

Hiking + hot springs nearby, including Ghost Ranch, Poshuouingue ruins & Ojo Caliente Springs! Most pets are welcome (for a pet fee). We are located 55mins from Santa Fe, and 5hrs from Denver. Abiquiu is a destination frequented by artists, writers, spirit seekers, and nature lovers from around the world.
