This place is really something and probably the highlight of my trip! I was lucky to have it all to myself for 2 nights and I could enjoy cozy evenings by the fire, in the very well decorated living room and its mezzanine. This renovated farm house really has a soul and an interesting history. It is sitting alone in the middle of a field so it's easy to find and give privacy and silence. I felt at home right from the start. My room was lovely, filled with books and little decorative details. It had a cozy vide that makes you feel like you're in a cabin. The private hot tub is ideal for relaxing and watching the northern lights, and the view over the fjord is the cherry on the cake. You can walk to the beach in 5min (which also has a public hot tub). Swany is such a friendly host, I enjoyed all our chats about everything that makes Selá so unique. I will come back for sure!

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Swany and Sela Retreat. It is a total gem and I felt so comfortable and at home and had great conversations with the Host! I would highly recommend this lovely venue to anyone who wants to head to northern Iceland.

Selá Retreat is a magical place to me and you can feel its magic as soon as you arrive. It is a place full of histories, warm encounters and creativity. Swany is the host and the heart of this place. She makes you feel welcome from the very first moment. Whatever you need she can and will help you with it. She can tell you a captivating story about every single piece of furniture or decoration in the beautiful house. She and her husband built the entire place themselves to accommodate artists and staying there I truly felt inspired, despite not being an artist. The rooms all have the amazing view on the fjord. There are lot’s of things to do in the region and we could have easily filled 2 weeks with all the amazing recommendations from Swany. Watching the Nothern Lights from the geothermal hot tub at night is an experience I will never forget. The stay at Selá Retreat is easily the highlight of my trip to Island and whenever I get the chance I’ll come back.

This stay was just perfect! The home was cozy, meticulously curated and felt just like home. Swany's personality and warm greeting just topped off the visit!

Luka was a great host! Incredibly helpful when my friend and I had trouble with the timing of our arrival and spotty cell service to communicate . Luka also helped us to arrange a horse riding tour which has become one of my top experiences here - breathtaking views, a wonderful guide (Vanessa), and amazing riding experience!

nous avons passé une excellente nuit dans le logement, très confortable et très cosy. Petit thé et petit café d'accueil très appréciables. la récupération des clés à l'accueil est très pratique avec un personnel très attentif et chaleureux. Le dîner au restaurant exceptionnel... Le personnel est au petit soin et très gentil... je recommande à 100%...

Es war mehr als nur perfekt. ❤️ Wir haben uns direkt wie zu Hause gefühlt. Swany ist eine wirklich liebe Frau, ihr Airbnb ist viel mehr wie einfach nur eine schlafmöglichkeit es ist eine wunderbare Erfahrung, ein Ort für Erholung und zum wohlfühlen! Wir möchten auf jeden Fall wieder kommen und wir konnten an zwei von zwei Abenden die nordlichter sehen und das sogar im hottub.. Es war einfach perfekt vielen vielen Dank!!!

The lodging is actually set up motel style. Don’t let that dissuade you. We had dinner at the farmhouse. I have to say, that was the best dinner I had in our 8 days on the ring road. The included breakfast was also fantastic. It is very close to one of the hot springs/lagoons. So between the dinner and the lagoon, it was a great place to stay for the night on the ring road tour. It is also very quiet and comfortable.

The location could not be beat for access to Godafoss and quick trips to Husavik and surroundings. As others have mentioned the bedrooms are small, but so are we, so it didn’t bother us. It was fun to take photos at the falls and point out this house in the background.

Beautiful clean place in an idyllic setting. Linens are crisp and white and the bed is comfortable. The view is absolutely stunning. The host is super helpful and even arranged so we could get our laundry done even though we arrived late in the evening.

Awesome stay! Beautiful surroundings. Room was great everything we needed was available.

A beautiful home to spend some quiet time resting in. Valdis is a auper responsive and friendly host, I highly recommend booking here :)

Swany's place is absolutely cozy and she is such a friendly host. Super well equiped kitchen and nice living area where you can spend some time in the evening. Everything was super clean and great whale watching company is super close! Highly recommend this place!

Akureyri Backpackers is right in the heart of the town. Almost everything is within a walkable distance.

Wonderful hosts. The view was so lovely. The bed was so comfortable.

The guesthouse is so lovely! Everything is really thoughtfully designed for travelers with a hotel-quality room and fully stocked, large, communal kitchen. I was so grateful to do a load of laundry on our travels and meet the 3 adorable bunny rabbits on the property.

Private room in a shared space, but can’t beat the proximity to town center restaurants and shopping.
