What truly prepares a yogi for dhyana is letting go of their beliefs, their identity and eventually the body and mind. The spine, hips and neck to feel buyoant (we’ll do prepatory hatha asanas like patagasana and balasana) is where we start. Pranayama (deep breathing with nadhi suddhi and kapal bathi) and aumkar (the three layers of depth of how to chant and use AUM) yoga are two of the most powerful tools at our disposal to further the prep allowing us to make momentsrily stepping out of the mind possible. Once here, we’ll move into dhyana yoga (narrowly termed ‘meditation’). Words dont do a good job describing any of this but if u’re willing to show up, be present, u’ll be sure to feel, to perceive.

I live in Berkeley hills (its an artist studio where authors, artists and meditators alike have left a strong vibration). We’ll use the outdoor backyard surrounded by bamboos, birds of paradise, wild roses and pomelos. Blue Js and Hummingbirds are frequent visitors. Sage, herbal tea, singing bowl, didgeridoo and many other aids to meditation are all available for us to use in this high energy space.
