Чем вы займетесь

Immerse yourself in the rich flavors of Turkish cuisine, all from the comfort of your home! We'll explore Turkish food culture and history, and all the methods and ingredients that make this cuisine so special with simple but tasty dishes.

After the introduction, you’ll have the chance to see the ingredients, plates, and utensils that we have on our family table and you will get to know the recipes and we will prepare a Turkish Coffee.

Then, we will cook Murtağa (a dish from my hometown called Van). Later on, we will cook Menemen (Turkish Omelet). Both are quite easy to prepare so no need for expert skills!

After our experience, you will have knowledge on:

- Turkish Family Breakfast Culture
- Turkish Coffee Ritual and History
- Murtağa Cooking
- Menemen Cooking

Extras:
After booking, you will receive:
- Turkish Bubble Bread recipe
- Kaymak (Clotted Cream) recipe
- Map of Turkish Breakfast Products
- List of Breakfast ingredients and the location of Turkish markets in your city

Что взять с собой

  • For Menemen: 2 Tablespoons diced "Banana/Anaheim Pepper", 2 Tablespoons diced tomato, 1-2 eggs, 1 teaspoon chopped parsley/mint, cheese on top
  • For Murtağa: 1 tablespoon of butter, 1 tablespoon of flour, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon crushed walnuts
  • For Breakfast Table: I will show how we mix olives+thyme+lemon+olive oil and tahini+GRAPE molasses. You can also bring any of these items: jams, salty cheese, helva, cucumber & tomatoes, honey & clotted cream
  • Bread
  • Turkish coffe, Cezve, or any drink you wish to have

Hey, everyone! I’m Burak and I have been organizing 8 different in-person Experiences in Istanbul since March 2019 as a full-time Experiences Host. I am currently Airbnb Experiences Istanbul Community Leader.

I was born in the Eastern Anatolian part of Turkey, Van: A city of cats, lakes, mountains, and breakfast. Since my childhood, breakfast has been an important part of my life, especially our family breakfast. And with this experience, I wanted to introduce you to Homemade Turkish Breakfast from my kitchen.

Burak's experience felt like cooking with an old friend! It was fun, informative, had a great pace and was really sensory. We were a group of 3 and it was like having an indulgent breakfast with two of my besties. Burak was very attentive to us all and even sang me happy birthday :) If you're looking for a great way to connect with friends & loved ones over food, this experience is for you!

Wonderful hands-on experience! Burak selected recipes that were easy to follow, and the food was delicious. He was engaging and helpful. We especially loved the cultural and historical context.

Well planned set of three courses with just the right difficulty to ensure everyone had good food and fun. Burak gave great context for everything but did a good job of checking in with everyone individually too (I can imagine this is tricky but he did it well). Tried a dish that tasted completely unlike anything I’d had before (which is always a thrill). You can’t go wrong - low pressure and memorable.
