Just booked in Poughkeepsie

Just booked in Poughkeepsie
Sleep staring at stars in wine country! Featured in The New York Times, The Today Show & called by Forbes "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House," the Hudson Valley Glass House is a magical getaway. Just 90 mins from NYC, but a world away. 30 acres of rolling hills give total privacy & isolation as glass walls open up onto endless views of vineyards, orchards, & wildlife (spy coyote, deer, & amazing birds!). Modern comforts (WiFi, A/C, loaded kitchen) mean you don't have to give anything up.
Hi! If you're thinking of booking, please message me first to confirm, and also please read the entire listing to the end as it likely answers any questions you may have... Welcome to The Glass House. Come see why Forbes called it "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House" and called an "off-grid oasis" on The Today Show. Sleep staring at the stars and feel the stress melt away in this glass-enclosed tiny house (just 180 square feet!) retreat, just 90 minutes from NYC, but a world's away. This is a truly special place, and most people find it surprising that it can exist so close to New York. With all sorts of wildlife coming within inches of the house (don't be surprised if you see coyotes, families of deer, and every type of bird you could imagine--not to mention more butterflies than you've ever seen, depending on the season), this is a truly immersive experience into nature. But despite its small size and isolated location, it is surprisingly luxurious on the inside. The listing includes: -A 180 square-foot glass-enclosed tiny house, offering spectacular 360-degree views of the Hudson Valley and surrounding vineyards and apple orchards -Lots of privacy on a 30-acre farm. -Outdoor dining and lounging furniture, along with access to a fire pit that you can definitely grill on. -A plush queen-sized bed with a super-comfy memory foam mattress and insanely comfortable pillows -A dining table with two chairs for sitting and eating. -A modern stainless-steel kitchen with a mini-fridge, induction cooktop for cooking, microwave, and electric kettle. Despite the small size, it has just about everything but a range oven. -Wi-Fi for keeping in touch with the real world and streaming shows on your personal devices. Also note that while the house is tiny and has a maximum occupancy of two people, I am sometimes able to accommodate larger parties for those bringing tents and willing to camp outside. Please inquire about pricing for such scenarios. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Q: Can I get to the house without a car? A: The house is about 25-minutes driving from the Beacon train station. If you choose not to drive the whole way there are Zipcar pickups at the train station (reserve in advance!) and Uber JUST launched in the area ($20-$30 for the ride from the train). A car is highly recommended (especially if you want to explore the area), but this definitely makes things possible for the car-free—just be sure to show up with everything you need for the stay as the farm is in a rural area that is not particularly walkable. Q: Do I need to bring towels or linens? What about a hairdryer? A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with basic toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is very rare). Q: Is this house really off the grid? A: Yep! It features solar panels for power, a propane HVAC system for heating and air-conditioning, and a unique dry-flush toilet (more on that in the "Other Things To Note" section below). One exception: You absolutely have working Wi-Fi. Q: How will I receive the key? A: The house features a keyless entry system with a code that lasts as long as your stay. This allows for effortless check-in and entry. Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests? A: Yes, and I take pride in providing a clean home for guests. Take a look at my reviews—I think you'll find my guests agree! Q: What's up with the cleaning fee? A: I get a lot of questions about this, so I'll just break it down so you understand why it is what it is: All but $10 of that goes directly to my cleaner. She is a professional who does a great job and who I insist on compensating fairly for her work. The dry-flush toilet cartridges cost me about $20 apiece, so the remaining $10 lets me split that cost with guests. (Of course, if you happen to use more than one cartridge, I cover that cost alone). Q: What's my total booking price? A: I honestly have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest, and not the host, the total cost. This figure should be present after you enter your dates. Note that, pricing varies on a daily basis, and Airbnb actually uses some crazy algorithm to adjust it automatically, so I don't actually control this. Q: I am looking for a last-minute stay. Can I make a same-day booking? A: If you're looking for a same-day booking and the place is free, please inquire and I'll try! It depends on whether my cleaning crew can spring into action at the last-minute, which isn't a sure thing. Check-in may also have to be later than the listed time in order to make sure the place is ready. Still, can't hurt to ask. Q: I know it says "No Animals". Can I bring my small/well-behaved dog? A: I love dogs, but there is a farm dog who gets very nervous when other dogs are around, and so we can not allow animals. This is also for your dog's safety, as there are coyotes in the area. Basically: Please don't try to sneak one in--this really doesn't end well. Q: I'm a blogger/YouTuber/influencer. Can I stay for free? A: No. One last thing: I really, really appreciate that you followed directions and read the whole thing. Please put the phrase "Don't throw rocks at glass houses!!" at the top of your message so I know you did so as such bookings tend to go so much smoother! And thanks for hanging in there!
The Glass House is situated on a 30-acre farm in the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley. Guests have total privacy, but are joined on the farm by the main farm house, a smaller residence with live-in caretakers that can help out in case of an emergency, and one other tiny house. Around the farm are views of rolling vineyards and apple orchards—many of which are absolutely worth a visit. Downtown Marlboro is minutes away and has a few nightlife and dining options, and the hopping town of Beacon (home of the Dia; Beacon) is about 25 minutes away. Storm King Art Center (a must) is also about 30 minutes away. Also near: New Paltz, Cold Spring Poughkeepsie, and countless other Hudson Valley gems.
  • What a gorgeous view! My boyfriend and I chose this place for a quick getAway- he's always been interested in the Tiny house lifestyle. The home is identical to the pictures. I couldn't believe the views from the crystal clear windows. The home is in a very private location, but there is a nearby home over the hill. I personally enjoyed this- I don't like feeling I'm miles away from civilization. There is a small town about 10 mins from the home, which was very convenient. Seth has all the basics in the home, we even got some eggs (which were absolutely delicious- you need to try). Just an FYI, there is a nearby chicken coop with some cute chickens. One of the chickens is known for escaping the coop and strolling around. Don't freak out like we did, she knows how to get back in when she wants. Thanks again Seth!

  • My girlfriend and I had a great time at this house! The Tiny House was gorgeous, with great views of the surrounding meadow. We would definitely recommend it. Lots of vineyards and cider distilleries close by to explore as well.

  • What a magical and peaceful retreat! My wife and I had such a lovely experience in our first tiny house. Seth really ensures a clean, easy, and enjoyable stay. Go to the FDR museum!!

    Dylan2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I enjoyed two days at Seth's tiny house. The bed is very comfortable and it was a pleasure to wake up with landscape all around us. We spent our time exploring towns, museums and hikes nearby - there are many easy day trips to be had. PS. If you arrive in a torrential downpour at night like we did, make sure that you bring hiking boots and a flashlight since you walk through a dark field without guide lights to the house.

    Kat2017-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • It was a beautiful tiny home in a serene and lovely place, the neighbors were helpful and cheerful (except for one) the host was terrific and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

  • This place may be tiny, but the effect on the psyche is huge. It was the perfect quick escape from the frenetic pace of city life.

    Jack2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most magical weekend at Seth's. For 2 city dwellers who are not really cut out for camping, this was the perfect way to experience nature in all of its peace and privacy and glory without having to rough it in the least. We took the train up from NYC Friday afternoon - as Seth mentions, it's only about 25 minutes from the Beacon station - and took a taxi from the station, which was super easy. We were completely blown away by the peaceful and beautiful experience offered by the tiny glass house. The pictures can't even convey how stunning the views are and how incredible it is to wake up surrounded by nature on all sides. There is an amazing farm/grocery store nearby where we did all our shopping on Seth's recommendation and we also got eggs from the farm! We had the most amazing time cooking (the induction stove really is genius) and eating outside at the fire pit. Every little thing in the tiny glass house is so thoughtful, from the coffee press to the speakers to the books left for reading in the perfect bed nook (which is incredibly comfortable and fit my 6'2 boyfriend no problem!). We thought we would cozy up and watch our favorite shows all weekend, but we ended up spending most of the time just laying in bed looking out onto the view and it could not have been lovelier. I can't recommend Seth's place enough! It truly is the perfect retreat.

We are conveniently located within a 10 minute WALK from the Poughkeepsie Train Station and the historic Walkway over the Hudson! Our three family home is nestled in the Little Italy district of the City of Poughkeepsie - Appropriately there is no shortage of Italian bakeries or Italian restaurants in our neighborhood! Four restaurants (Amici's, Milanese, Cosimo's and Emiliano's) and two bakeries (La Deliziosa and Cafe Aurora) to be exact, all within WALKING distance! Good food is definitely not hard to come by in our neck of the woods. WALK on down to the Poughkeepsie waterfront... Dine inside or al fresco overlooking the beautiful Hudson River at the River Station Restaurant. Make sure you try one of the five delicious soups, homemade daily or pop into the historic Ice House on the Hudson for some of their yummy eats! Maybe you're just in the mood to cozy up next to a fire and enjoy a delicious glass of wine? Well then WALK down the street and around the corner to the Nic'L Inn. The ambience and artfully crafted menu never disappoints but be careful because their complimentary fried spaghetti can be addictive. Obviously we enjoy introducing people to our favorite neighborhood spots but lets not take away the fact that your journey to Poughkeepsie is just the gateway to the Hudson Valley. Located within 20 +/- minutes to the Village of New Paltz, Rhinebeck, Beacon, Breakneck Ridge (Hiking), Millbrook and multiple Breweries, Wineries, Distilleries, Orchards and attractions in Historic Hyde Park. • Cozy place to escape to. It was an easy walk from the train station. Shops and restaurants were a short walk away. Robert & Regina were great, everything was clearly communicated. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing get away.

    Maura2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and Regina were excellent hosts and supplied us with lots of additional info about where to go and what to do in Poughkeepsie. The apartment was really clean and well decorated. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Donal2017-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful AirBNB experience. Exactly like the pictures, if not better. Very clean and newly renovated. Full kitchen. Bed was extremely comfortable with lots of pillows. Fifteen minute walk from Main Street. Some great restaurants are a 5 minute walk (crave and cosmos pizza). Highly recommend.

    Haresh2017-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was perfect for our visit to Marist College, the apartment was a short 5 minute drive to campus. Check-in was easy, there was off street parking, and Rob was great to communicate with. We didn't get a chance to use the kitchen, but it was full size, and perfect for a longer stay. This may seem small but we all appreciated the soft sheets and towels, it made sleeping and showering very comfortable. Since we think our daughter will attend Marist, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

    Brad2018-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts made us feel very welcomed! They communicated everything we need to know and the place was very clean. The listing description was very accurate and we were so happy with our stay. The neighborhood was what we expected.

  • Our stay was great. Elisa was very welcoming and even set up the futon last minuet at our request. The room was exactly as it appears in the pictures and very spacious - with a gorgeous view over the pond. Eliza's gallery is a must see. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Beautiful place to stay. Elisa was wonderful and incredibly helpful. Room itself was spacious, clean, and very accomadating. We could come and go as we pleased and didn't feel like we were intruding on Rob and Elisa. Would absolutely recommend.

  • Great value in a private wooded setting. Unique accommodations in an artsy building! Friendly host and convenient location.

  • Elisa was a wonderful host, very helpful with top local tips (that proved spot on) and flexible to any needs I had. The house itself is a one of a kind and should feature as a local attraction in its own right! The room was as described. Clean, spacious, private, all mod cons, en-suite, 10/10. I will want to visit again. Thanks Elisa and Rob for a great stay. P.s. If you're into art you'll wanna stay here. Dean

  • I am very happy to say that staying at Troy's house was a lovely and unique, experience in every way. The bed was so comfortable with the best pillows ever. Troy was so welcoming, a wonderful, interesting host and an excellent cook. I am looking forward to my next stay there!

    Deborah2015-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Troy has elevated AirB&B to a new level of excellence. His hospitality surpassed most of the B&Bs in Ireland and England where we have stayed and matched that of one particular B&B in the English Cotswolds. He covered all the amenities and offered a very comfortable home in which to relax. The Norwegian breakfast was a delicious and educational experience. (The waffles were amazing!) His dining and touring tips were spot on. Troy was a gracious host who made our Hyde Park trip all the more memorable. If only there was a "Troy" in every town!

    Carol2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • couldn't have asked for more from this host and house including location. Breakfast was one of a kind as was the hospitality. Highly recommend

    Jane2017-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Troy and his beautiful home are amazing. Everything is just perfect, and Troy really makes it a point to make you not only feel welcomed, but at home. His knowledge of the area and the history is great for planning your day and let's not forget the amazing breakfast he makes for you!!! Absolutely amazing, such a good find, I just left and I can't wait to come back!!

    Kate2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • My stay here was a wonderful experience. The room is very private and the bed is very comfy with a fluffy down quilt. Troy is a very gracious host and wants to make sure that your stay is perfect. He serves a 5-star gourmet breakfast--be sure to leave time for it (and forget about having lunch that day)! He also escorted the other 2 guests and me to the Vanderbilt Mansion and gave us a guided tour of the gardens. A special treat!

    Bonnie2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Troy's place is really special, the decor is impeccable and (Website hidden by Airbnb) and my husband stayed at the Duchess room and even though we booked a smaller room he was very kind to upgrade us free of charge. We checked in pretty late and he waited for us and make sure we're settled in and have everything we need. We had his famous Scandinavian breakfast and the hype is real guys ,three course breakfast, everything home made and tailored to mach the the vibe. Troy is a wonderful person, and really goes the extra mile to make to make your stay memorable. We can't wait to comeback in the summer

    Arita2017-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • To say Troy is a fantastic host would be an understatement. We arrived and were immediately a part of the family. We were so smitten with our experience that we even devised a plan to leave mellow reviews with our fellow Airbnbers so that we wouldn't be booked out when we decided to come back. He really created the most welcoming and Norwegian environment we could have ever hoped for. Thank you Troy for everything!

    Hillary2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Troy was an exceptional host--very welcoming, very kind, very accommodating. My stay in his home was the last night of a two week trip. I thought that staying in his Scandinavian home would be my treat to myself as the conclusion of my journey. It was beyond my imagining. His house is gorgeously Scandinavian in design. The breakfast he prepared was one of the most beautiful Scandinavian breakfasts of all time--a beautiful table setting, delicious and perfect foods--candlelight, firelight, the sun rising over the Hudson. Troy went out of his way to take me to an ancestral site of my grandfather's family that I didn't even know existed. Troy is a generous person. I couldn't have been happier with my stay. It was a delight in every respect-a feast for the eyes and palate. I told him by staying in his home that he had saved me the air fare to Scandinavia, because entering his life in Hyde Park was as if one were actually in Scandinavia and not in New York State. It was my great pleasure to stay with him and become thoroughly inspired by how he lived. He has created a unique, gorgeous environment, one I felt privileged to share during my visit.

POUGHKEEPSIE: Home to 4 colleges (Vassar, Marist, Dutchess Community & The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park), Poughkeepsie is both a college town and a city in transition with a diverse blue collar urban community. With close proximity to restaurants and cultural destinations, Poughkeepsie allows you to experience the conveniences of “small city” life while only being a 10 minute drive from the country. A historic industrial port city, Poughkeepsie is currently going through an exciting resurgence, characterized by a grassroots local food movement, farm-to-table restaurants, and a number of revitalization projects, including the renowned Walkway Over the Hudson, the world’s longest pedestrian bridge spanning the width of Hudson River. The Walkway connects the Dutchess County and Ulster County rail trails, making Poughkeepsie a destination for bike enthusiasts. Vassar College and the city’s south side also make for wonderful bike routes with cute residential streets, historic homes, and lots of trees. We love Poughkeepsie for its diversity – its people, its culture – and the way it encompasses the full socio-economic spectrum, from its pristine college campuses to the developing commercial zone and restaurant scene in the historic main street corridor. Poughkeepsie is an exciting place with a unique energy, and an ideal home base for experiencing the rest of the Historic Hudson Valley. THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Gray Street, where the guest house is located, is a residential, tree-lined street in a transitioning neighborhood 5 minutes from Vassar College. The neighborhood is a blend of everything from young entrepreneurs, academics, government workers, tradespeople and low income families. The guest house sits across from Forbus Butternut Park, a 1-acre greenspace overseen by a local non-profit. There is a church on the other side of the park, and the Poughkeepsie High School and football field is about 2 blocks away. During the day, kids sometimes play in the street, but for the most part it's very quiet since Gray Street isn’t a major thoroughfare. AROUND THE REGION: Because Poughkeepsie is centrally located, it makes for a great jumping off point to explore the rest of the Hudson Valley region. Towns like Beacon, New Paltz, Rosendale, Millbrook, Hyde Park and Rhinebeck are all within an easy drive with lots of things to see along the way. Hudson, The Catskills, Cold Spring, Phoenicia and the Berkshires all make for wonderful day trips – full of meandering country drives, antiquing, hiking, fishing, wine-tasting, museum-hopping, or cooling off in a swimming hole. I run a blog that’s dedicated to travel, food and culture in the region called An Upstate of Mind, and I’m happy to send along recommendations for our favorite spots tailored around whatever you like to do. The surrounding Upstate NY towns are lovely, but to make for a full day, it’s sometimes good to combine a few destinations into a “mini road trip” that lets you soak in the local flavor and experience the sprawling natural settings the Hudson Valley is known for.
  • The guest house is as nice as it looks in the pictures, the host has really invested in having a great vibe inside the house, the services are excellent, everything is really tidy. Also, the host will answer any questions in almost no time. Great overall.

  • My and my friend stayed at The Artist Guest House for the Thanksgiving holidays. The house is cozy, beautiful decorated and has everything you need. Seth was an amazing host, he aced me about our interests and sent me tons of recommendations in the area. We really enjoy our stay and we would love to stay over again soon! very recommendable for anyone looking to scape from the city.

    isabel2014-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • AMAZING STAY! Totally inspired by the design in this apartment. It made me want to buy a vacation home in Poughkeepsie and decorate like this. :) Seth was great and gave us awesome suggestions for things to do in the area. We want to come back FOR SURE. Thank you Seth!!

    Jessica2015-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We miss Gray Street already. What a lovely place to unwind and also get some work done. A quiet sun-filled place, beautifully appointed from delicious towels and comfortable bedding, to fabulous pictures and winning antique finds. The work that Erin and Seth have done on this place is inspiring. Seth was a very engaged host from the beginning, and infectious and charming in person. His knowledge of the area is unsurpassed, and further detailed in his blog 'An Upstate of Mind'. We wended our way on a road trip he suggested and ended up having a really lovely day of adventure. Thanks to him we ate well at Red Devon, shopped vintage and antiques at Ole Carousel and finished at a great brewpub in town. We recommend it highly if you want a mix of adventure, work and rest. We'll definitely be back.

  • My wife and son had a wonderful time at Seth's apartment. They found it well equipped and comfortable, exactly as listed. Excellent host!

  • A great place to stay in Poughkeepsie! Very well placed (walking distance from Vassar College). In a quiet street, very cosy and well equipped. Seth is a wonderful host, who made sure our stay would be wonderful with a ton of useful tips!

    Christophe2018-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Seth's guest house in Poughkeepsie was a great home base for both exploring the Hudson Valley and for our Saturday morning class at the CIA. His recommendations for restaurants, including the Mill Street Brewing Company in downtown, and towns to visit in the area made for an easy weekend without having to do a lot of research and preparation ourselves. The house itself, while a work in progress, is an inspiration for what these older houses can become.

    Carrie2014-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Seth's Guest House Apartment was absolutely wonderful. We were there for a month, helping with a new grandson, and we just loved the apartment. Seth was a fabulous host, doing everything to make our visit comfortable. The apartment is charming, spotless, tidy and beautifully decorated. It is superbly equipped and it quickly felt like home. We loved that we could walk to parks, restaurants, shopping, a supermarket, and could easily bike to fabulous bike trails and the Walkway Over the Hudson. We hope to return, and would recommend this unit to anyone who asks.

A Scandinavian Contemporary home with a great host!
Wonderful neighborhood up from the Hudson River. Quiet with a sound of the train whistle.
  • Troy is a fantastic host! He clearly loves to welcome people into his home and makes his guests feel very comfortable accordingly. Troy was even so kind as to invite me and another guest to join him and his friend for a dinner he had prepared. He is full of wisdom about everything there is to do and see around Hyde Park. The Scandinavian breakfast in the morning was awesome. It was a wonderful stay.

    Amy2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • An outstanding first Airbnb. We were made to feel comfortable throughout the entire stay. The Scandinavian three course breakfast, itself, was almost worth the price for the stay. Troy's hospitality is really quite special. We feel like we made a friend. And his dogs, Annie and Ella, are very special, too, and well behaved. We really loved sitting outside on the porch and talking with him and another guest on the night of our arrival. This is like being at a BNB except you you are part of the household and seems even friendlier. We definitely will return.

  • Troy is an exceptional and considerate host. Stayed for 1 night with my girlfriend and instantly made us fell welcome. His home is beautiful and provided a wonderful little retreat for our stay. His breakfast of traditional Norwegian fair is extraordinary with no expense spared. Bravo Troy!

    Alexander2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Troy was an amazing host, friendly and out-going. He only wanted the best for his guests. He not only made sure the accommodations were up to our standards, but helped us get in to local tours of the estates, told us the best places to go, the best driving routes, etc. Above all, we were guests, not customers. We we warmly welcomed into his home and treated as close fiends. His place is wonderful, easy to find, very comfortable. It spotless, the beds are comfy, the towels plush, ample and plentiful, and he even provided great bathrobes! And the Breakfast was amazing. I can not recommend this place highly enough.

    Patricia2016-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I decided to visit the Hudson Valley on a last minute whim, and chose Troy's home without really spending too much time on the decision. We were very, very lucky. Troy is the most generous and gracious host. He has restored his vintage 1966 home with the exquisite eye of a professional designer but more importantly with a love for Scandinavian culture (more accurately Norwegian), with which he has had a lifelong love affair. I'm not sure if it was an Easter weekend special, but he served the most incredible 3 course Norwegian breakfast, and taught us how to "skol". We cavorted with his lovely and affectionate dogs, talked about the area, and places to go and things to do, and enjoyed the company of his other guests. I really would have been content to spend the whole weekend in his house, looking through books and magazines and admiring the charm of his home, sitting by the fire, and being spoiled by Troy. He clearly loves hosting and has a seemingly endless amount of energy for the task. He talked about future improvements, like a sauna and a new entryway, among other things, but no improvements are necessary. I highly recommend his home for an aesthetically inspiring and relaxing getaway. My girlfriend and I look forward to returning. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the luxurious down bedding! Skol!

  • Amazing experience. Troy is so kind and knowledgeable about all the historic places in the area and obviously loves living there. He even took us on a tour. Room was so comfortable! And his breakfast? Extraordinary! Delicious! Highly recommend!!!! Thank you Troy!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Troy's, with delicious food and a very cozy atmosphere!

    Kirby2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed with Troy while on our way upstate for the weekend. He was a very welcoming host, and made us feel right at home. We both really enjoyed the delicious Norwegian breakfast he prepared (the waffles were so good!) and our conversation before we left the next morning. It's easy to see why his place is consistently booked, and why guests come back. Please stay here if you have the chance, and make sure to check out the Vanderbilt Mansion just down the street.

  • Troy is a magnificent host and a wonderful cook! His house is beautiful and very comfortable, the breakfasts are highly memorable, and Troy and his friends are lovely.

  • This is the second time my husband and I have had the pleasure of staying with Troy. The first time was during a blizzard last February over Valentine's Day weekend. This second time was during a heat wave over Memorial Day weekend and we brought another couple. I really didn't think it was possible, but Troy somehow managed to up his hosting game even more! He woke up super early in the mornings to prepare 3 course breakfasts for us, got us passes to tour nearby historical sites, and as always was fantastic company. We were especially inspired by his culinary prowess and will now be making soft boiled eggs, lox, and waffles at home! Since we've experienced such extreme weather conditions we haven't been able to hike the area as we've planned, but Troy's place is so lovely we were able to thoroughly enjoy our stay and look forward to returning again soon! We also loved his super well-trained and loving dogs, I've never seen such well-behaved pets before. Thanks again Troy for a wonderful weekend and for graciously opening your beautiful home to us!

    Margaret2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Could not have been a more enjoyable weekend! Troy is truly an amazing host and made me feel at home the moment I step into the living room. I arrived just in time to watch the sunset over the river and mountains which could not have been more perfect. I had a long day of hiking and traveling throughout the valley, but slept well and felt refreshed the following morning. Bed and comforter were like sleeping on a cloud. Was impressed by the 3-course Norwegian breakfast, I’ve taken notes Troy and hope I can even come close to your cooking. The peacefulness of this home and hospitality of Troy is a treasure in the Hudson Valley. I will definitely he back again soon.

    Kathleen2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our friends stayed with us and had a great time - an experience not to be missed - since I booked both rooms - I get to say it again - Troy is a wonderful, thoughtful host!

    Linda2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • My stay was one-of-a-kind! His space was beautiful, clean, and inviting. Also, Troy was a flexible and accommodating host with incredible cooking skills! I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

    Madeline2015-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great experience at Troy's for the new year. My boyfriend and I arrived at Troy's on 12:30, planning to only stay for one night but we fell in love with the beautiful house Troy set up and his three course breakfast so we ended staying for the new year party Troy was hosting. We met his neighbors and his friend Richard, who was a lot of fun. We made pizza ourselves and also had fondue! Troy was also very kind to get free tickets for us to visit the Vanderbilt Mansion. All in all, it was the best Airbnb/b&b experience we have ever had due to Troy's hospitality and aesthetic sense. We arrived as strangers and left feeling like we got several new friends. Highly recommend!

    Yiyang2016-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Troy was an excellent host--he made us breakfast and was highly attentive to our needs. We enjoyed chatting with him and had a lovely stay in his home.

    Jacqueline2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a phenomenal stay at Troy's home. It is so beautiful and tastefully decorated. It is easy to see how much care and effort Troy puts into making his guests happy; he has put so much toward his home such as new fans, etc. We really enjoyed sitting out in the living room and playing with his two dogs. The room itself is very comfortable. It is also really nice to see Troy's passion for Scandinavian and Norwegian cultures; we loved hearing about his various trips and endeavors. Be prepared for a three-course breakfast; it's pretty incredible AND delicious. It was really nice to talk with the other guests, as well. Also, the area is amazing, and we wish we had more time to explore it. Historic Rhinebeck is great for dinner, and we spent some time at the Vanderbilt mansion. We wish we had time to check out the FDR sites! This home is so lovely; we really recommend it to anyone coming to the area.

Our place is close to the Poughkeepsie Train Station, restaurants, shops, bars, cafe's, Walkway over the Hudson, Marist College, The Culinary Institute, Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Mid-Hudson Regional, Bardavon Opera House and the Poughkeepsie Waterfront... You’ll love our place because this will truly feel like your home away from home. You'll find a fully furnished, art deco/mid-century modern one bedroom apartment, fully equipped for all of your needs. We welcome everyone!
-Private entrance with keyless passcode entry -1 Bedroom with queen size bed -Spacious living room -Dining room for up to 4 guests -Newly renovated bathroom -Brand new appliances -Verizon Fios TV and Internet -Two off street parking spots -Outdoor patio and BBQ area -Air Conditioning -Fresh towels and linens -Iron -Blow Dryer -Coffee/Tea/Bottled Water
• Robert & Regina's place is a good place for a get-a-way. It was convenient to the CIA and Hyde Park and the walk way over the Hudson. It's also very easy to get to the surrounding towns.

  • This place is a gem! My wife and I give this place 5 stars all around, and we would highly recommend it to all travellers who are looking for peace, cleanliness and convenience in Poughkeepsie. Thanks again.

    Shaun2018-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • From the start, the pictures looked beautiful and the price was excellent- far lower than I would've expected to pay. When I actually rented the place, the communication was some of the best I've had on this site. The owners were so kind and looked after every detail. The apartment was so sweet. Both my fiancé and I agreed that it looked like an apartment we imagined ourselves buying. It was cleverly designed and well furnished so everything was comfy. We cooked everyday so the kitchen was easy to move around and use, but if you're not about that, the place is super central. Route nine is a few streets away, there's a corner store LITERALLY up the street from you, and Cosmo's is a short walk away. We didn't have a car which was never a problem since you're also really close to the train. But, if you need, Lyft is prominent in the area where one is never more than five minutes away. The house has an electronic lock which was super convienent since no one had to worry about a key. Honestly, I can't think of enough good things to say about this place. But I'd recommend it to anyone because they'd have a great time. And of course, I'd love to stay again.

Built over 100 years ago as a chicken hatchery, this gorgeous little gem has been fully restored as a two-story guest cottage. Located in New Paltz just minutes off Exit 18 on I-87 in a very private, quiet, country setting. Only ten minutes from New Paltz Village & SUNY New Paltz and set back on a lightly traveled road for those long summer strolls. You don't even need a car to get here! It's just 12 minutes by taxi from the New Paltz Bus Station or bring your bike up and cycle everywhere!
The Little Yellow Cottage displays much of it's original construction including post and beam, stained glass in the cupola (even an original stained glass portrait of Abraham Lincoln!) and a screened in porch for breakfast with a view or just hanging out. Inside you’ll find a spiral staircase and all the 21st century amenities you’d expect, including radiant in-floor heat, AC, TV, wi-fi and laundry in the full kitchen. One queen bed sleeps two on the ground level and one Murphy bed sleeps a single on the lower level. Private picnic table right outside. And the postal code may say Highland, but the Little Yellow Cottage is really in New Paltz!
Check out the funky art hub of New Paltz or SUNY New Paltz just 10 minutes away or climb the Shawanagunk Mountains 15 minutes away. You don’t even need a car! Bring your bike up on the bus or train and take a taxi ($12) to the Little Yellow Cottage. Cycle the 20 minutes into New Paltz or even spend a day on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail also just 20 minutes away. Talk a long walk on a quiet country road and snap a selfie at the tranquil Black Creek just a minute away.
  • The cabin is beautiful and quiet and set in a lovely, secluded location. It has everything you need and is laid out thoughtfully. It is really clean and there are lots of thoughtful touches. A beautiful area with lots to do. We would definitely return!

We were able to relax in many areas of this home especially the screened in porch. I highly recommend this home.

This spacious suite is peaceful, & wooded with separate entrance, patio, wifi, full kitchen, bathroom (small shower), queen bed, sleeper sofia, TV (uses fire stick, wifi & blu-ray, no cable) Local (seasonal) sites to see: Walkway over the Hudson, FDR Home & Library (Hyde Park, 14 mi.away), Culinary Institute (11 Mi), Vassar College, Highland Landing Park, Old Kingston (original site of NYS Capital), SUNY New Paltz, Antique stores of NP, Huguenot Village, Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Mtn House.
We're unique because we live in a rural setting, yet within a few miles of - Mohonk, apple orchards, vineyards, 5 colleges, The Walkway Over the Hudson, etc. We also are 10 minutes from the train to NYC. *If you come from NYC by train - we offer pickup roundtrip for $10 (please make sure you ask if you need this.)
We fondly call our neighborhood, "the Outback," because we're in the woods. 1. The biggest plus is the peacefulness and we are centrally located near SUNY New Paltz and Vassar Colleges. There are also 2 community colleges nearby as well. 2. We regularly have a family of wild turkeys, deer, and red tailed hawks coming through the yard. Of course the usual chipmunks, ground hogs and squirrels. We even had a huge, beautiful large Owl land right outside the Suite window this past spring.
  • Everything was great. We booked pretty last minute and they accommodated us. Easy communication and the perfect pit stop. Thanks for everything!

  • Roomy, comfortable apartment in a quiet country setting. Everything you would need - laundry, wifi, food in fridge, lots of books to read......even music lessons from Kit. Hosts were responsive and friendly. We chose this location because it was central to the places we intended to visit - a good base for our activities.

    dan2016-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kit and Mark are great hosts. The place was nice and very cozy. We enjoyed pot pies that were stocked in the freezer and there was food and coffee for breakfast. It is a very quiet a peaceful environment, which is what we which intended it for. They are perfect hosts.

    Deanna2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place for a quiet stop in the middle of a busy road trip. Kit and Mark both greeted me warmly upon arrival and showed me around the apartment. It is clear they take joy in hosting... no detail (food in fridge, detergent with washing machine, binder full of useful info, blackout curtains, games under the desk, etc.) went ignored. While booking, I had mentioned my plans to see the Roosevelt presidential museum in Hyde Park, so they even left out brochures for me to browse. The home is in a lovely, wooded area. I would have loved to stay an extra day and spend more time reading on the patio. Thank you for a great stay!

  • Kit was a very gracious host and made the entire stay simple and stress free. The basement apartment is perfectly set up for a private stay with all the amenities you would need - full kitchen, small private bathroom, and even a washer/dryer. Check in and out was a breeze and Kit provided great communication and instructions.

    William2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kit and Mark were very attentive hosts and wanted to make sure that our stay was comfortable and happy. We enjoyed being able to cook a meal after having been traveling for a few days. They really thought of everything you might need in the kitchen. The bed was super comfortable, not just for sleeping, but for sitting up and reading as well. Great hosts. Great value.

  • A great place for a first time Airbnb user. :)

    Laura2016-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • It's a basement apartment. There is not enough lighting anywhere, not even in the bathroom. I could not wear my makeup before an imp event. Bathroom tiles torn, so the place looks depressed. Didn't try the shower, because it didn't look very attractive. Tons of unnecessary fake flowers and other random do dads (decorative items). Makes you think it's all sitting there collecting dust. The arrangement of the furniture was also strange and street light shining in your eyes when in bed. It's okay if you are just looking for a clean bed, clean towels and nothing else. Overpriced.

    Farnaz2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Veronie always kept in touch with us. The place is beautiful and very clean. We would highly recommend her place.

  • Veronie was a great host, making sure everything was set for our arrival. The place was clean and looked exactly like the photos. She even left a note with some helpful instructions, as well as pamphlets of local attractions and menus of local restaurants. While this is technically a room of the house, it has its own separate entrance and you essentially have the whole place to yourself. We had a lot of privacy, which was great. All in all, highly recommend both this Airbnb and host!

  • Jim is a fantastic host - very easy to contact and very attentive to details. This cottage is exceptional and the pictures don’t even do it justice! Very private, everything is new and clean, and the view is just beautiful! We are already trying to figure out when we can go back!

    Bridget2018-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Really great spot. The space has a great view of the river and is very cozy. Jim was also a super nice guy.

    Jason2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jim’s place was exactly as pictured. Impeccably clean, convenient and a pleasure to come home to. The train sounds in the area and The boats going by only added to the ambience. Would love to go back.

    Karen2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Simple, clean and beautiful. Jim is an attentive and very helpful host. The views from the small deck are wonderful. There are trains behind the house, but they don't go by often (especially at night) and they really didn't bother us. All in all an outstanding choice. Thanks Jim!

    Tom2018-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jim’s place has everything you would need for a relaxing getaway. The views are incredible, there is a gas grill, and the house is clean with everything you need.

  • What an incredible spot! Modern amenities, extremely clean, and the best view on the Hudson River. Centrally located to all the sights in Hyde Park. We loved coming back to this home after a long day of exploring. Jim was responsive and helpful providing lots of fun things to do in the area. We look forward to staying here again for our next visit to Hudson Valley!

    Michelle2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jim's place is amazing. The space was modern and perfectly clean and the bed was very comfortable. Huge windows show off a beautiful view of the Hudson River, and there's a deck (with a grill!) to get even closer to the water. The TV swivels so you can watch from the bed or the chairs in the living room area. Jim also included thoughtful extras, like shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower and bottles of water in the fridge. We didn't really use the kitchen during our stay, but there is a full kitchen! Jim's communication was prompt and helpful, he gave us lots of recommendations of places to go in the area, and the check-in process was very easy. Would definitely stay here again!!

    Hyde Park, Нью-Йорк, США

A snug, rustic getaway only 75 miles from New York City. Our newly renovated barn is near fine restaurants and the banks of the Hudson River. Visit Storm King or the Walkway over the Hudson, go hiking, travel our Craft Beverages, Distilleries and Wine Trail! Take in New Paltz, Hyde Park, Woodstock, Rhinebeck for fun shops, restaurants and history. A truly gracious space with top reviews, we are easy to get to by train or car and Uber is available. Have a wonderful getaway in the Hudson Valley!
I am told again and again that our photos don't reflect the beauty and size of the space. It is quite large and very pretty! We hope you will love the antiques, artwork, and amenities. Fully renovated, it has a large great room, a galley kitchen, a dining area, a lounging/TV area, a sitting and reading corner, and a queen sleeper sofa. The separate bedroom has a queen sized bed and a washer and dryer. There is a deck for lounging, al fresco dining and enjoying the gardens. We supply handmade soaps, fair trade coffee, and Sonoma linens and high speed wifi. We are located in an old Quaker part of the village of Milton. The barn was used for the gardens and greenhouses that were part of the original larger property. There are beautiful gardens all around the house and the river is at the foot of the hill! There is also a lake behind the house and an old Quaker cemetery next door. Very friendly neighbors! However this property is not a farm; it is in an active neighborhood with country life going on. The barn was originally used for the gardens, not farm animals. Since we live on property and have close neighbors we ask that you be respectful if you are returning late at night by being quiet and turning off outside lights. Unfortunately we don't feel that our space is suitable for children under 12.
We are very central to everything the Hudson Valley offers The Poughkeepsie train station is 5 miles away and taxis, Uber, car rental and Zipcars are available from the station. We are within a short driving distance from Vassar, Marist, SUNY New Paltz, and several other colleges and schools. A partial list of attractions and distances: In Milton and Marlborough We are very fortunate to have a world class music and art venue in the neighborhood. Please make sure to drop by THE FALCON for brunch or dinner, drinks, and amazing artwork and music! We also have many fine vineyards in town; you can visit them by following our very own Shawangunk Wine trail Bad Seed Hard Cider Tasting Orchards- Fruit picking Riverfront Park Nearby Another local claim to fame, the Walkway Over the Hudson, is in Highland NY, 4 miles north. It is the highest pedestrian walkway in the world and a breathtaking experience! Make sure to take it in, it is easy to find and has lots of parking. Rail Trail Biking and Hiking-Ulster and Dutchess County Fanny Reese Park- Highland NY. Hiking Minnewaska State Park, Gardiner NY. Hiking and Rock Climbing Poughkeepsie - 4 miles: The Bardovan Theater Shopping and Restaurants the Chance Theater Civic Center Locust Grove Historic home of Samuel Morse The Ranch Skydiving Gardiner NY New Paltz -10 miles Shopping and restaurants Hiking and Climbing the "Gunks" Hyde Park- 12 miles Shopping and Restaurants Franklin D Roosevelt Home Hyde Park- 12 miles Vanderbilt Mansion Hyde Park -13 mile Storm King Art Center Cornwall NY, 20 miles West Point Military Academy Tours and Museum- 24 miles Beacon NY- 14 miles Galleries and restaurants DIA Art Foundation Colleges Marist 7 miles Culinary Institute 9 miles (several restaurants on site, reservations required) Vassar- 9 miles Mount Saint Mary 11 miles SUNY New Paltz 11 miles Kingston is 15 miles away and there are just too many attractions to list but I will mention the Rondout waterfront is amazing and you can rent kayaks there at A Day Away Kayak Rentals. Amazing restaurants and Maritime museum, lighthouse tours, etc!
  • Jennie was a great host and the place is excellent and recently renovated. The location is also convenient to nearby schools and attractions.

    Graham2016-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Jennie’s place was perfect for our one night stay. It was very clean and had so much natural light in the bedroom. We enjoyed playing card games and the coffee in the morning. It was about a 10 min uber from town and the winery that we visited. Jennie was very responsive and gave us great restaurant suggestions! Thanks again!

    Clara2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jennie was very responsive and accommodating. The barn is spacious, clean, and has character! A great, secluded place to unwind, but also in a convenient location to tour around the Hudson Valley. Highly recommend!

  • Beautiful spot to rest your head . All the finishes were perfect and lent to the rudtic

    Annie2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We planned this trip very last minute. Jennie received the request and answered quickly. She made everything easy even including detailed directions. She had the barn warmed up for us and she basically had everything you could possibly need in the house. And she knew the best places to visit and eat !!! The barn was the coziest place we’ve stayed in and was very close to towns like New Paltz. We loved it and will try to make it a tradition of coming here. There were some rain showers and it was cold, but she salted everything. We just loved this place.

    Lisa2017-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely accommodations with delightful hosts!

    Renee2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Jennie is a wonderful host and the accommodations were perfect for a cozy few days on the Hudson. The house was very spacious, all recently remodeled, and furnished with care and country style. Location was well situated for us to visit Storm King, local parks for hiking, Kingston for kayaking and small towns nearby for local restaurants. Frida's Cafe is outstanding for breakfast and only a 2 minute drive down the road. Jennie was a great host, with a warm welcome and recommendations for the area. Looking forward to our next visit!

Comfortable room with lots of natural light. Located on the first floor of a 3 bedroom apartment in a private home. The quiet neighborhood is ideal for a peaceful get away, or if you are passing through to see the beautiful Hudson Valley.
The room has a full size bed, flat screen 19inch tv, basic cable, wifi, and complimentary snacks and wine. The home is located centrally to fine dining, shopping plazas, the galleria mall, Marist college, Vassar college, walkway over the Hudson, and many walking and riding trails. Vassar hospital is right up the street (5 minute walk)
The neighborhood is quiet and very clean. The area is perfect for family, dining, entertainment, or just relaxation.
  • Van is always available and very responsive. His place is neat, clean, comfortable and quiet.

    Alex2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Van is a super nice guy -- very accommodating and responsive. The place is cozy and comfortable. Perfect for a few days in Poughkeepsie. The bottle of wine he left us was a nice touch. We definitely plan to stay here again next time we're in town.

  • Good place to stay

    Daniel2017-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Decent place to stay short-term, and Van is very nice and great at communicating! My only complaint is that I wish the place were a tad cleaner (there was dust and floor debris in the bedroom and mold in the bathroom).

    Corinne2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Vans place is easy to get to and tidy as pictured. Check in was easy and Van went out of his way to answer our questions.

    Emily2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy and Nice location..close to everything like transportation restaurants. Van is very quick at response and very helpful too. Great! Thanks

    Nilay2016-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We selected this listing because we would not have a car. We were able to walk the .7 mile from the train station. The house is located on a quiet street. There are a total of 3 rooms available in this house. The main street had some good eating places. We had breakfast at North River roasters. We had dinner at an Italian rest. also on main st. We would highly recommend both. We appreciated the bottle of wine in our room. Van's wife was very gracious to drop us off at the FDR museum/home. There was a TV in our room as well as a larger one in a living room. Kitchen and bathroom very clean and nice. We would stay here again.

  • Im so happy I found Tom and Mo's place. I was in town for business and nothing better than coming to a safe, clean and comfortable home every night. Tom and Mo helped me find locations for my waterfall photoshoot and were so helpful. The town is so cute I have to come back again in the fall i bet is even better. Thank you Tom and Moe for everything.

  • Great, clean, private, quiet space close to town. The space is well appointed and comfortable. Can't imagine what else you'd need. We really appreciated the coffee, juice and milk to get us started. Plenty of linens. Private entrance and easy check in. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Tom and Mo's place was perfect for my wife and I. The house is clean and spacious. There's nice touches like chips, orange juice, coffee and bottled water. The location is so close to downtown New Paltz. To top it off, the bed and bedding is super comfortable. Great value!

    Jeffrey2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb home was more spacious then we had even thought going into it. Tom/Mo did a great job of decorating the place and the amenities were out of this world. They provided everything you could imagine...chips, popcorn, milk, lots of water, cereal and the list goes on. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever stayed at a place where the host was so considerate/generous. When we walked in they even had the ac and fans on for us which was awesome after a hot/humid day. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommended it to anyone traveling through New Paltz and staying in town for the night.

Her house is simply charming, decorated with love. You feel like you really came home. My room was very cozy, bed was super comfortable. Cable TV(Fios) -I co watch movies on demand 24 hrs!-:) But who will watch TV if there's pool with crystal blue water sparkling under the sun! Loraine offered me food and drinks - isn't that amazing?!! I spent four wonderful days in Poughkeepsie and I found new good friends there! My warm & inviting ranch home has a true homey feeling. It comfortably accommodate 4 people (please unreported guest will be charged extra $15 per person per night just be honest about it); located in heart of Hyde Park. Just mins to Culinary Institute of America and Marist College; perfect for parents attending graduations or orientations , FDR Presidential Library, Vanderbilt Mansion and Walkway over the Hudson all within mins away.
This beautiful newly renovated ranch has 2 bedrooms and a good size bathroom with laundry unit; fully equipped kitchen with outdoor fenced in patio. There's a 2 good size sofas for guests in the living room to hang out and watch the ball games. There is a dining table will seat 4 people and 2 extra bar stools with island in the kitchen.
This neighborhood was built 1950s; its literally 3 mins from FDR Presidential Library by car. 6 mins from Vanderbilt Mansion, Culinary Institution of America about 3 mins drive and that makes this house so appealing
  • Cynthia's ranch is in fantastic condition (clearly it's been recently renovated), and she makes a lot of effort to ensure guests are comfortable. Instructions for arrival were clear and easy, the central AC was on for us when we arrived, snacks were left out for us and bottled water was in the refrigerator. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    Eric2016-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia's place is very cute! It was cozy and comfortable for 4 people for a night or two. Cynthia was a great host! She was very quick to respond to questions I had and we appreciated the snacks and sodas she left for us (also coffee, oatmeal packets and eggs). She was flexible when we asked for a small extended checkout, which we appreciated. Check-in was very easy and painless. The house is also in a great location close to town and was a 2 minute drive to the drive-in movie theater which was a lot of fun! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an affordable and low-key stay upstate.

  • This home was very comfortable for 3-4 guests. The beds were very comfortable and the house was clean. The owner was very easy to contact, lots of little treats and extras. The house is in a great location. It is close to shops and restaurants but on a quiet cul de sac.

  • A wonderful apartment - beautifully fitted out and ideally located for a friend's (Email hidden by Airbnb) fortably accommodates five people for a weekend. Seth was a fantastic host.

    Jessica2015-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing and perfect for our stay in Poughkeepsie for our Sons Graduation from Marist College. The apartment was light & airy with lots of natural sunlight. We felt right at home .

    Oren2015-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Seth gave a long and detailed set of recommendations on a variety of things to do in the area. The apartment is well decorated and clean, and I’d definitely stay here again if I were planning another visit to the area.

    Ismael2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Seth's place was wonderful! It was clean, stylish and in a great spot for all the places we wanted to see. Check-in and check out were both extremely easy. Seth was an exceptional host and gave us a ton of recommendations for places to eat and visit - almost every place we ate at was a suggestion from him and we were very pleased! Four of us fit nicely in the apartment, although the pull out singles in the living room are not exactly the most comfortable (but it'll do for a few nights!) - on the bright side, I immensely enjoyed reading by the window in the mornings. Everything in Poughkeepsie is a very, very short drive a way, but there is also a deli that is walking distance just around the corner for any late night snacks. Overall we had a great stay and would recommend this place to anyone going upstate!

    Charissa2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Seth's place is wonderful and we appreciated all the little touches — nice towels/bedding, quality shower products, beautiful furniture. It was the perfect, cozy getaway that we were looking for. The best part though was Seth's extremely detailed note on everything to do in and around Poughkeepsie! We used it as our guide and we had a phenomenal time. I couldn't recommend his place and the experience more highly!

    Kim2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was wonderful! Seth was terrific. Before we left, he sent a long email with instructions and also recommendations of restaurants and other places of interest. We used this several times, which made our stay better than if we'd just used an app to show which restaurants/groceries/ etc. were in the area. Interior decor in the apartment was really neat! Bed was comfortable. Everything was clean (windows were so clean I kept thinking they were open). Would definitely stay here again if we came back to Poughkeepsie!

    Jeanette2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication and recommendations from Seth. Take advantage of his wealth of knowledge of the area.

    Wynn2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • First: Seth is an excellent host. Knowledgeable, passionate about the area and eager to share. Second: The place is really a gem. Clean, spacious organized. Everything that you'd wan't in a place.

This carriage house built in 1880 is located in the historic hamlet of Clintondale, NY. The heart of the hudson Valley. • Love is in the details and that is exactly why I fell in love with this place. The pictures speak for themselves but what people don't get to see are the small things like board games available or magazines and and an array of books. The bathroom was impeccable but what I loved the most about was that all the products such as soaps and shampoos were all vegan and environmentally friendly. And of course last by not least is the welcome. I've never felt so welcomed at stranger's place as much as I did by Billiam. Thank you! Definitely returning!

  • The carriage house was very homey and cozy, perfect for a last minute weekend getaway! Just a short walk from the farm and a quick taxi ride into town to walk the Walkway over the Hudson, go sightseeing and visit some great bars and restaurants. Billiam was a great host: attentive, responsive and very friendly! I highly recommend staying here!

  • My friend, her 9 month old son and I spent 3 lovely days at Nna's place. The home is very clean and spacious and just as described. We spent our days wine tasting and exploring nearby hiking trails and parks. There are lots of restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies all within a short drive. Nna was extremely kind and helpful and went above and beyond to help make our stay great! I would highly recommend this adorable little cottage. It's a perfect escape from the city. Thank you so much for the great stay!

    Jennifer2016-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Nna's refurbished barn was a perfect country get away. Great outdoor adventures/hikes near by (15-20min), the BEST German food around (Gunk Haus), and lovely scenery wherever you traveled. The barn itself was a lovely stay. A pleasant bedroom with a cozy upstairs, kitchen, and bath with everything you needed, and all very reasonably priced. I would certainly come back again!

    Jennifer2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were amazing and extremely accommodating!!!! They left all the little touches that made our stay special, (ex- bottled spring water from their farm, a book with all contact info and WiFi directions along with food recommendations). The decor and cleanliness were impeccable! I would most definitely stay there again if given the need to!!

    Lisa2016-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The house was cozy and comfortable and we had a wonderful time!

    Anna2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately, due to a loss in the family, we had to cancel our stay at Nna's at the last minute, 1 day before our scheduled arrival. However, Nna was so accommodating and understanding. He made it so easy for us to reschedule our trip and we are looking forward to joining them this spring!

    Georgiana2016-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing Hudson valley OASIS! Our family had a lovely stay. Everything was as described and even much better, the bed was wonderful, we had everything we needed in the kitchen and bathroom. Nna and Billiam's hospitality and kindness alone was worth the stay.

A private entrance leads to the guest suite, with a living space, kitchen area, and separate bedroom and bath with shower. We are close to Hyde Park Historic Sites, the Culinary Institute of America, and local colleges. Welcome!

  • The place was beautiful. Doris made our stay especially enjoyable. She is kind and very accommodating. The property is beautiful and is a wonderful place if you're looking for a nature walk and scenic roads. The pond is a great addition. It would have been nice to have a stove to cook food, but there was a microwave and Doris provided us with many lovely snacks including home-made muffins. It is a quiet, peaceful area with stores and diners that are around 7 minute drive away. Definitely would recommend. Did I mention how lovely our host Doris was?(:

Upstairs bedroom, shared bathroom downstairs. Shared common areas include kitchen living room, laundry. Free off street parking.
Upstairs private room with keyed door. Full size bed ideal for one guest; willing to accommodate two guests if they want to share this size bed, or use an extra air mattress on the floor. Second guest $10.
Primarily residential, except along IBM Road and Route 9, which are short walks from my house, where you will find Hertz Rental car, restaurants, hotels, etc.
  • Mariama is a great host. She is super nice and accommodating. We had a wonderful conversation the day I arrived - she worked at the company that I just started at for many years. She had some great stories and sound advice. P.S. Oreo is the sweetest cat I have ever met.

    Raymond2018-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Mariama is a great host. She offers convenient late night check in (upto 2 AM), that's perfect for on-the-spur travelers like myself. The house is conveniently located and is small and cozy. The room itself was a bit tight and small, but my sister and I definitely counted our blessings for having found something last minute and managed just fine. The location is in a nice and quiet neighborhood, but within walking distance to IBM's office. (I am an avid runner and woke up early am to go for a run around the block and IBM's parking lot was my 5 mile running route). Overall a good experience

  • Wonderful hospitality from this lovely couple. They are new to Airbnb and doing a great job. The house is a walkable from the train station; I was there for a wedding and had everything I needed. Wish I had more time to explore Hudson Valley. After breakfast, they dropped me off at the train station, too kind!

  • This is a beautiful home and very close to the train station. They are both such nice people and even went out of their way to offer me juice and cookies upon my arrival and breakfast before I left. Comfy bed too. Highly recommended!

  • So close to the walk over the Hudson, nice restaurant nearby. Hosts were friendly and very helpful concerning my questions about the area and the places I planned to visit .

  • Although we have used Airbnb in the past, this is the first time we have ever stayed in a guest room in someone’s house. We could not have asked for a better experience. Rocky and Neelam are absolutely lovely people and wonderful hosts. They made us feel so welcome in their beautiful and clean home. Upon arrival we were offered beverages and pastries. Our room was nice and air-conditioned and we were able to use the adjoining bedroom which fit our daughter’s travel crib. In the morning Neelam made us the most incredible Indian breakfast. We enjoyed our time talking with Rocky & Neelam. We became fast friends and we were sad our visit was only for one night. Next time we find ourselves in Poughkeepsie, we absolutely hope to stay here again. Thank you for opening up your home to us and we look forward to seeing you again!

  • I stayed at Beborahs place for one night while attending a wedding in the area. Communication and check-in and check out were smooth and I appreciated their flexibility to allow an early check-in so I did not need to drive from Boston in wedding attire in the heat of the summer. They provided everything I needed, reliable wifi, secure off street parking, a clean bathroom and in room AC I could adjust to my preference. Recommend to other guests.

This lovingly furnished home in Hyde Park NY overlooks the magnificent Hudson River in a very quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Vanderbilt estates. It comfortably accommodates two guests.
Beautiful Historic House on Hudson River This furnished home in Hyde Park NY overlooks the magnificent Hudson in a very quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Vanderbilt estates. The property includes a beautiful garden with stunning views of the river and it is located directly across the street from a park with swings and a gazebo. The house was built in 1865 and is fully renovated. It is a one to two bedroom home with a porch and a balcony, a/c and includes all appliances (washer/dryer, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, highspeed internet with WiFi, cable tv, dvd). This romantic getaway is 10 minutes by car from the Poughkeepsie train station, with Metro North running hourly trains to Grand Central, a relaxing 90-minute train ride along the river. It is a 20-minute drive from Rhinebeck. Hyde Park's main street known as Albany Post Road or Rt. 9 is half a mile away, within walking distance. There you can enjoy breakfast at the local café and shop fresh produce at the Saturday Farmers' Market. The Hyde Park post office across the street from the café is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its construction was personally overseen by FDR and it houses murals depicting local history. If you're interested in natural wonders, rent a kayak or canoe from the River Connection nearby. Under their supervision you can depart with a guide through whom you will gain access to the tiny private harbor in front of your vacation home, to embark on a once in a lifetime excursion rowing yourself up and down the mighty Hudson and exploring the estuary up close. After working up an appetite, enjoy a fine meal at a local gourmet restaurant, a truly delicious steakhouse, or visit the renowned Culinary Institute of America within a five-minute drive. Our home is directly located on the Hyde Park Walkabout Trail which leads straight to the Vanderbilt Estate in one direction, and the FDR estate in the other direction. On his way commuting from his job in Albany as Governor of New York, legend has it that FDR was known to sip the occasional cocktail on our balcony with his friend, the former owner of our house who happened to be a hound-keeper working for the Vanderbilts. FDR's train stopped right in front of our door. The train doesn't make stops there anymore, but the tiny station still stands and has been converted into a very unique train museum. Entrance to the Vanderbilt Estate is within a 7-minute walk from our house. The boundary of the FDR Estate is a 20-minute walk away. A path into the woods of the estate provides a lovely way of approaching the Roosevelt home and library which is another 40-minute walk away. From here you can also proceed to Eleanor Roosevelt's Val Kill, depending on how early you head out. The bedroom is upstairs and has a queen-size bed. French doors lead into a study with a day bed and a desk facing the river. This house is the perfect place for a retreat, to spend time with friends, to wine and dine in a kitchen overlooking the river (see photo with the sailboat shot from the window above the kitchen sink) to read, write, and take long, beautiful walks.
  • Before our arrival, Eve gave us very clear directions on who would help us access the house and what we should do if a need were to arise. We moved right in. Couldn't believe the amount of space we had for just the two of us. Eve's vintage home is a perfect complement to all our activities - visiting historic homes, galleries, museums and parks. With the Culinery Institute close by, we had the pick of superb cuisines - but there was also a great diner down the road for all American comfort food. The kitchen in the house had everything we needed and all in working order. We loved sitting on the porch and watching life on the river. Trains go by infrequently and the sound was never disturbing. We just felt like we were a part of a history that had been passing by for hundreds of years. The house is comfortable, beautifully furnished and appointed with nice art, great books and music. If I had a month, I would come here to relax. Thanks Eve.

  • This is the most perfect house - it is spacious, well equipped, quirky and has a very special atmosphere. Sitting on the verandah overlooking the Hudson River to watch the sun go down, who could want for more? The warmth of welcome was second to none and the area is full of interest. We needed far more than three days to explore the beautiful surroundings which are full of interest historically and scenically. What a gem of a place! We must come back.

    Christina2014-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • We visited this wonderful house for the first time last year for MLK Day weekend and when the holiday rolled around again this year, there was only one place we wanted to be: in this beautiful house right on the Hudson river. After all of the travel and stress of the holidays, it seems to have become a tradition to come up to this lovely house for some quiet, quality time. We enjoyed having a large house to ourselves, cooking in the spacious kitchen, watching movies, listening to music over the stereo that plays in every room, watching trains pass by, and just relaxing in general. Host Eve and caretaker Jane are extremely nice, helpful, and very easy to communicate with. This is a very special place, thanks Eve!

    Desiree2015-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our long weekend stay at Eve's house in Hyde Park. The house is the perfect size for two, the view of the Hudson River across the street makes for a lovely setting, and the hour-and-a-half distance from New York made our mini getaway an easy one. Eve's house is so close to everything in the Hudson Valley. We dined at the Culinary Institute of America, browsed Rhinebeck's farmers market and wonderful downtown, biked across Walkway Over The Hudson, explored Franklin D. Roosevelt's childhood home and Presidential Library... everything was easy to get to from our homebase. That being said, while the MetroNorth is nearby, I would strongly recommend having a car to see all the wonderful parts of the Hudson Valley. The weekend was an unusually cold one for September, so the heat wasn't yet turned on. The house was a bit chilly, but all the more reason to cozy up under a blanket with a steaming cup of coffee (or a glass of local wine).

    Joe2014-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place ! and having plenty of space felt great to have . Great porch for watching the comings and goings of the river. We walked to FDR museum which was right out the door and was quit a treck for my mom, lol. Very interesting place leave alot of time to follow Fdr's story. Eveready Diner and Cranberries very good for breakfast. Nice comfy bed ! . Place has to be one of the best airbnbs in this area. Tv in living room would have been a personal preference for me. Kingston Hudson boat ride day two, Staatsburgh mansion day three. Communication and service top notch. Helped out washing bed sheets and keeping the place super tidy. Thanks.

  • The house is a charming, secluded retreat overlooking the Hudson river. It is extremely convenient to Poughkeepsie and the entire Mid-Hudson Valley area. Although the house, I'm guessing, dates from the late-19th century, the master bathroom has been nicely updated. There is also a downstairs laundry/shower room. Wifi was more than adequate to our needs. Although we didn't do any cooking during our stay, the kitchen was well equipped. Then again, with so many good restaurants locally, why cook? We would definitely stay here again and likely will over the next four years as our daughter is attending college nearby.

    Ethan2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were welcomed by the neighbor Jane. She is awesome and knows the history of the community. You can't be welcomed by a more wonderful neighbor and friend.

    Mary2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time at Eve's home. We couldn't believe that we had this entire home to ourselves. It was beautiful and had everything we needed, included a full kitchen with all the basic cooking essentials and then some. The home is beautifully furnished and there are a TON of wonderful books to read (including cookbooks). Eve and the property manager Sue made sure we had everything we needed, yet made sure we had our privacy. A train line runs right in front of the house but it isn't too loud. We slept just fine. Overall, a wonderful stay at a beautiful location.

  • All in all the listing and photos are accurate. Van provided as described. Figuring out keys was a little annoying, but minor. The room we stayed in was on the second floor. The third floor is occupied by a long term tenant. Unfortunately we stayed on a night where our upstairs neighbor was "getting lucky" and the walls were thin. I could make out what songs were playing, how rickety our neighbors bed was, and how vocal they are while they had their fun. Unfortunately this kept me up through the night. If I were to isolate this incident from my overall experience I would say my stay was fair.

    Ceasar2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great value for comfort. Awesome communication with Van during my stay. Perfect choice if your working at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, it's a 7 minute walk from the house.

  • I had a good experience at Van's place. The place is located close to the Poughkeepsie train station (15 minutes by foot / 5 minutes by cab). Van's place was clean and comfortable, and stocked with a bottle of wine and snacks. He also allowed me the convenience of an early check-in given my schedule. He was also easy to access over text messages and we communicated as required about early check-in and getting into his place. Overall, a nice place to stay in Poughkeepsie.

  • Ray and Irene's barn is an absolute gem. 15 mins from Rhinebeck, it is set beside an orchard and in front of a lake with geese and horses grazing on the other side. Ray and Irene greeted us at check in and made sure we were completely comfortable. A bottle of wine was waiting for us, a fully stocked fridge as were other items including beautiful eggs from their chickens. The barn itself is gorgeous and my wife, son and two dogs had a lovely stay during our visit from NYC. Their hospitality and attention to detail is second to none and we'd love to return. This is the blueprint for how AirBnB should be.

  • If your traveling to Hyde Park THIS is the place to stay..... THIS IS A LOVELY HOME! Ray & Irene both are a delight and informative about the area... both foodies, you’ll be in heaven being close to many dining establishments and the CIA! We WILL be back...

  • Ray and Irene are very special people with a special property and the barn is charming and cozy. We enjoyed our stay at the little red barn and will be back to stay in the future!

    Jennifer2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • The red barn is the perfect spot for a cozy weekend getaway. We were having a "late Valentine's Day" and were looking for a retreat not too far from the city. Ray and Irene could not have been more helpful and welcoming! The space is set up beautifully with everything you need plus some really nice extra touches (snacks, toiletries, etc.) Hoping to come back in the summer.

    Abigail2018-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is hands down one of the best places we have ever stayed. Ray and Irene went over and beyond any expectations we had. So many personal touches it's hard to name them all. It's hard to find a place to keep kids happy for more than a day or two(from fishing, playing in the soaker pool, so much yard & the list goes on.) Even our pup felt right at home. We could go on and on but simply put this place is AWESOME! Super relaxing place to stay away from it all. We will definitely be staying there in the future! Thanks again so much for your hospitality and perfect stay! Ps.... Our kids already wanna come back!

    Scott2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Nice house, rustic and cozy, with all comforts and details; the garden and the pond are very peaceful, very nice view. The hosts gave us a very warmth welcoming and many little details that made our experience even more special. Thank you!

  • Ray and Irene's Red Barn at Turtle Pond was the perfect place for me to stay while attending a week-long boot camp at the Culinary Institute of America. Ray and Irene are great hosts — welcoming and responsive. And the Red Barn is spacious (open plan, high ceiling, sky lights) and cozy (in terms of furniture and decoration, I mean) at the same time, full of character and style, in a beautiful spot, with plenty of peace and quiet. Ray and Irene's own house is on the property, close enough that they are available if needed but far enough to give guests privacy. I appreciated the fact that, although you enter the barn at ground level, the living space is upstairs, with large windows offering nice views out the front and back of the living space. I look forward to returning!

    David2018-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic, inside and out!! The perfect spot for a quiet retreat and a convenient hub to enjoy lots of area activities. We enjoyed the comfortable homey interior with music playing from the Amazon Echo and the beautiful outdoor space with soaking tub, plenty of seating and the private pond. Ray was a wonderful host. He and Irene have created a lovely spot here. We so appreciated the thoughtful snacks a dm breakfast items - including fresh eggs from the farm. We are looking forward to returning soon!

  • Linda was a great host. Everything was exactly as described in the listing! If I'm back in the neighborhood, I'll try to book Linda's place again. .

  • Linda was a great host- everything was as advertised - very clean - supplied snacks etc- nice quiet neighborhood- and she has an adorable little dog- will stay there again when we are in the area - Albert and Makiko

  • I had a very nice one night stay. The place is very clean and modern, with a shower and double sink in the bathroom. She has very cushy bath towels and provides a hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner, and soap. The main sitting room has a nice large flat screen TV and a very comfy large sofa. Linda provides a microwave, small frig, and coffee maker. The bedroom had two twin beds; I know she also provides a king bed, but it was just me so I took the (Website hidden by Airbnb) was very comfortable and a nice quiet neighborhood. The area is pretty secluded, but has very good restaurants in downtown Wappinger Falls! I will definitely stay here again. There is a very nice park about 10 minutes from the home called Bowdoin Park with a playground for kids, as well as numerous hiking trails!

    Karen2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was a comfortable place, a little cramped for three adults, but would have been great for two. It was very homey, with lots of personal touches. We enjoyed it and were grateful to find it on short notice for our daughter's graduation weekend.

    Aaron2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's guest house was exactly what my best friend and I needed for a quick trip out of the city. Linda communicated with me throughout the week preceding our trip, and gave me detailed instructions on how to check in and out, since she was going to be away. The house is very cute and cozy, and matches the photos almost exactly! Thanks for such a great trip, Linda!

Quiet neighborhood centrally located 5 minutes from Marist, CIA, Vassar, and route 9. Top selections of restaurants in the area to choose. Newly renovated 3br home. Cozy w lots of character. Private parking for guests. Enjoy the very best of the Hudson Valley, and feel at home doing so.
It is quiet and clean. There is also a ceiling fan in each room with original hard wood flooring. Lots of character throughout. Modern appliances, toiletries, and basic everyday living essentials provided. To express our appreciation for choosing our home, a bottle of wine is provided for our guests. The kitchen, bathroom, and living area are all shared spaces. Enjoy!
Our home is quiet and yet close to everything, i.e...restaurants, theater, colleges, hospital, and shopping mall. Ideal location for great dining, family entertainment as well as local pubs. The home is on a quiet street near Vassar Hospital in the historic district of Poughkeepsie. It is also within 10 minutes driving distance to FDR and the Vanderbilt Estate, which are both excellent for picnics and walks/tours of the property. The home is with a 5 minute WALK to the Metro North train station, Mid Hudson Civic Center, and Walkway over the Hudson.
  • Solid place to stay for a night or two. There are two other guest rooms on the main floor as well as a kitchen, bathroom and a living area. Bed was a bit soft. Van was a good communicator and check in was easy. It's about a 12 minute walk to Main Street and maybe 15 to the waterfront.

    David2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Van's place is a good value for the price if you don't mind sharing your quarters with others. The space(s) is/are a bedroom in a home, but each room is private and has its own door and keys. The bathroom is shared. The home is in a great location, very close to downtown and to the train station, helpful if you aren't traveling with a car, as I wasn't. The building is a bit old and creaky though and the walls thin, so I'd bring earplugs if you retire early.

    Jandro2018-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Van was great. All is as advertised

    James2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very pleasant stay In Van's home. He was very friendly and accommodating and flexible with our schedule. The room and space are as pictured. The parking space is a plus as there was very limited street parking. Van was also helpful in suggesting local places for a couple to enjoy on a night out. I recommend Van's stay to anyone in the Poughkeepsie area for travel.

    Chantell2016-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Walkable distance to The Grand on the Hudson where we attended a wedding. It was also walkable to the center of town where we hit up a brewery. This spot is great because you can rent out the large room for single stays, or rent out multiple rooms in the shared space if you have a group of people. The landlord very responsive when we had questions. Plus, free wine with your stay!

    Andy2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Good location. Short 10 mins drive from almost all attractions within Poughkeepsie. Great host but due to construction of the house, could be noisy at night due to movements of people on the 2nd level. Nice gesture from Van in providing the bottle of wine!

    Kenny2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Room was just as pictured. We were only there for 1 night so didn't meet Van. Very accommodating for a change to check-in time.

    Jennifer2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was set up perfectly and welcoming.

Awesome home filled with love : ) Kitchen use, laundry use, pool use seasonally, private and or shared bath depending on other rentals at the time, use of yard, cable , wifi, close to colleges and all major transportation. Help yourself to our food.Cook your own breakfast too.Bikes for guests use. The entire house is slowly going thru a refreshing room by room. Some room colors and decor will vary during the process.
Location is great! Neighborhood is wonderful! Large living room for use. Large yard in a nice family sub division. Kitchen is fully stocked with needed utensils and wares.
Family oriented , tree filled, bird filled, chipmunk filled ... Nice atmosphere! But close to everything.
  • Listen to the reviews and just book it. She picked me up from the train station so I didn't have to take a taxi, she has every movie channel on cable ( I only booked her place cause I saw the cable tv and I don't have that in NYC), she has a soda fountain in her kitchen, and when she says make yourself comfortable she actually means: eat my food, ride my bikes, take my handmade soaps and if I have to go further upstate just have the house to yourself. I'm coming back next time I need to get out of the city, and I'm recommending all my friends to come too.

  • As other reviewers have noted, there is a sign in Loraine's home which reads "Come as strangers, leave as friends." Within our all-too-short 24 hour stay with Loraine and her warm and hilarious husband Paul, we absolutely formed a real friendship. The home itself was amazing, way above our expectations, and so much more value for your buck than were used to getting from hosts. There was food in the fridge that we tore in to the night we arrived. She had super nice bikes for us to use to take a really gorgeous bike ride over the river. (We were blown away by the view from a top the bridge!?) After our bike ride we took a quick splash in their in-ground pool, and joined her and her lovely family for a Labor Day bbq dinner, cooked by Loraine. Paul and Loraine are very special people, we instantly felt like family with them. While the home and amenities were enough to rave about, our little trip was made unforgettable by the warmth and heart and soul that Paul and loraine offer in their hospitality. These are really cool folks, and you'd be fortunate to be guests in their home.

    Roger2015-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Room was exactly as described. Perfectly clean and comfortable. Loraine was very friendly and communicative. Food and coffee was available in the morning. We had a great stay.

    Brian2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Super comfortable room, great amenities, and an awesome deck to hang out on. Lorraine was incredibly quick to answer any questions I had and kept in constant contact to make sure I was happy. The highest recommendation!

    Dan2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Loraine has decorated the house beautifully. The towels are big, soft, and luxurious. She invited her guests to use the refrigerator and she provided a coffee maker with implements and dishes, asking that we clean dishes and counters afterwards. She was very kind and understanding of my uncertain plans as I stayed there to be near my brother who was in Vasser Brothers Hospital.

    Jackie2015-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Loraine & Paul have become like family! I have stayed here several times in 4months. I will truly miss staying here followed with all the entertainment, they are the BEST!

    Samantha2016-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Loraine was very helpful in my arrival: good instructions, and she picked me up at the train station. The accommodations fit the description. Loraine and her family welcomed me warmly and generously, offering many amenities and creating a sense of family. My room was quiet and well appointed, and the bed super comfortable. Overall, a relaxing and warm experience, and Loraine is an excellent host.

Let me first say that Rae's place is in an ideal location for all the local amenities, just need to park up and leave your car where it is, you'll find great local eateries (Miss Lucy's, Cue in the summer months & Love Bites) all within a 30 second WALK! Secondly Rae herself is a fabulous host (& makes the most amazing chocolate downstairs in her shop Lucky Chocolates) she was available if you needed her, she checked up on us during the first few hours of our stay to ensure we had everything we needed....we definitely did!! From restaurant recommendations to day trips Rae helped us out, she's an awesome person with an infectious energy. Which brings me to her place, The Loft, what a gem! Filled with personality and such a clever use of space (so much space) we found it both comfortable and fun to stay here. We loved the indoor hammock, the functional kitchen, the funky living space with its record player and board games and last but not least the roof top terrace, perfect for sipping your morning coffee or your evening glass of wine! Thanks Rae for sharing this place with us, a fantastic first experience with Airbnb :)

Tasha was very responsive from my initial contact. The house was fantastic and housed our group of 9. It was a work team offsite and the house had plenty of room to work and have a good time in what can only be described as the ultimate man cave (bar, darts and pool)

We had a wonderful stay with Sherrill and her husband-- the apartment was just as nice as pictured, and having access to the piano and the hot tub was a nice bonus as well! Sherrill was the perfect hostess-- accommodating and full of useful information, but she also gave us lots of space and privacy to do our own thing. Highly recommended!
