  • Priscilla, Sheshy's mother, made us most welcome on our arrival. The house is in attractive gardens in a pleasant neighbourhood. it is not easy to find so make sure you have adequate directions before you set off. Although the room was small, there was a large sitting room which we could have used. Dinner and breakfast was served in the kitchen.

  • We had a wonderful time with Seshy. It is a beautiful and well appointed property. The flat we had had its own access, and everything we could need. It was clean and well cared for. Seshy was always available to answer enquiries. I would surely stay here again.

  • This is a really great place for those who know exactly what they are looking for. This is a very secluded retreat hidden in the wilderness on the shore of lake Elementaita. Do t expect it to be a 5 star hotel. Hot water is only 6am to 8am and then 6pm to 8pm. Electricity is also very scarce. The place is not connected to the grid so it uses combination of solar and diesel generator. If you want to be served breakfast/lunch/dinner - order one day in advance. The cuisine is very basic but it is real Kenyan rustic food. The host is very nice and hospitable and his assistants are also very helpful. There are also two nice doggies living on the compound. They supposed to guard the place but in fact they are very friendly. If you don’t have a 4x4 car then getting there may be a challenge. The last mile is almost impassable for a saloon car. So yes, it’s a perfect getaway place so if you manage your expectations you’ll be rewarded.

  • A modest place certainly, but nice. Very nice. Our rondavel style cottage was roomy with a great bed. The bath was clean and large with steaming hot showers morning and night. A small upstairs balcony is great for tea and offers a peak at the lake over the tops of acacias. The staff was friendly, energetic, and efficient. Our early dinners were served on time… well perhaps 20 minutes late once or twice, but well within reasonable expectations for a rustic camp. But for us, the best part of this camp its surroundings. Set on the virtually undeveloped south end of Lake Elementiata, you can hike the lake shore amid nearly pristine acacia woodlands. The lake is a major rookery for Great White Pelicans. We saw both flamingos (hundreds, not thousands!), plus loads of waders and shorebirds. Good birding inland as well. The camp seems to be a popular destination for weekending Nairobi residents. Over Christmas, the camp was packed, with extra tents set up on the beach to accommodate the carloads. Still, it was a family atmosphere – not a rowdy, party vibe. Picture extended families line dancing to South Asian pop. But nature lovers should plan on a mid-week stay. Be advised that electricity is normal voltage (220) but low amps. You can plug in your phone, but not your hot pot/ teakettle. Also, even the camp kitchen has zero refrigeration. So don’t plan on being able to bring your own perishables without an ice chest. When we come again (and we hope we will get the chance) we will bring our own drinking water. The small bottles for sale on site are bit expensive. Meals are available to order. Expect only local fare: gnawable chicken/beef/goat with rice/ugali/chapattis. Prices are moderate. We had one minor misunderstanding. Despite the fact that breakfast was listed as an amenity on the Air B&B listing at the time of our booking, the camp owner informed us that breakfast was extra. Fortunately, we learned this before our arrival, so we were prepared. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this beautiful place.

  • Beautiful location we enjoyed or stay

  • We loved our stay at Lake Elementaita Eco Camp, albeit a very short stay. This was the last stop of a fairly hectic 2-week roadtrip, and we arrived much later than expected. We did find it a bit difficult to find, and were relieved we had an SUV as the road was very rough. But man was it worth it! The banda we stayed in was basic but perfect...we woke up to thousands of birds, and were a very short walk from the lake, where we spent hours watching flamingos, pelicans and hundreds of other bird species! It was peaceful and beautiful. We'll definitely be back!

Attractive Chalet/Cabin near Pembroke House School, Gilgil. Fully furnished and kitted out with everything for self catering. Big windows with nice views over Naivasha, light & airy. Nestled in to a forest with 3 other chalets with good security.
  • Lovely place, reliable communication and clear instructions. We liked it so much that we are extending our stay. One thing to note would be to get here before sunset and ideally you should have your own 4*4

The Lodge is located at the shores of Lake Elementaita in a wonderful natural ecosystem. This a wonderful sanctuary home to over 450 bird species and other types of wildlife. The flora and fauna encountered in nature trail walks is breathtaking and a wonderful view of hills surrounding the lake. The lake is fed by a natural hot spring which offers a great day's hike. The lodge is located near Lake Nakuru national park where big game like lions, buffaloes, rhinos and so forth can be viewed.
  • Had a fantastic stay here! The hosts treated me like one of their family - very welcoming and thoughtful and took me on a lovely walk around the lake. I would definitely recommend. Good value as well compared to a lot of places in the area.

A last minute booking ( due to a power cut & no wi fi ) gave us a most memorable & unforgettable experience on our trip to Kenya . We were unaware of orphanage with 85 children . We were greeted warmly by Ivan& Dumaris as we were dropped off by our friends Sister Mary & Sister Elizabeth . We were all taken to visit the beautiful, friendly ,smiling children in the orphanage , an experience no to be missed. Our two sons arrived late the next day ,so in the morning we spent time with the children at their prayer ceremony ( very well organized) a top table of older children reading from the bible , little ones seated in front in a very organized but relaxed manner. On returning late from Nakuru with our two sons , Ivan ( a very nice gentleman ) came to our bungalow to say he was worried about us,He even rang the taxi man to see where we had been dropped off ( Merica hotel ) very nice. He was delighted we were back safely .Next morning all of us spent time with the children ,photos slide etc. Sons John & Patrick say : a very very pleasant surprise , as were unaware of the orphanage ( our own fault due to lack of research) we spent a memorable time here - wi fi is excellent , facilities more than adequate . Meeting all those warm ,wonderful children was a genuinely pleasant ,memorable experience never to be forgotten. We are planning sending a donation for Christmas. Thank you Ivan & Dumaris

Although we only stayed one night, we were made to feel very welcome in their home. Peter picked us up after a long bus ride from Nairobi and his wife prepared us a delicious meal. We also took a tour with Peters company Pega Tours around Lake Nakuru that was a fantastic and unforgettable experience.

Mama Muigai's was even better than the description! Firstly, we truly felt welcomed by the family. They went out of their way to accommodate, assist and make us feel completely welcome and taken care of. They showed us around Nakuru and the surrounding area, helped me coordinate a work-related trip to a nearby town, and even arranged a bus ride back to Nairobi when we asked. As foreigners (without a car), all these things would have posed a challenge for us, and Mama Muigai's family was so gracious to help us out! At the shamba (country house), we stayed in our own room with lock and key. We watched the ladies milk the cow, were shown around the garden with banana, mango and avocado trees, and enjoyed waking up to the rooster call and a breakfast made with fresh ingredients straight from the farm - milk, eggs, and fruit. Every night (we stayed for 2), I sat by the firewood stove as Mama Muigai prepared traditional Kenyan food for our supper. She is so generous and loves hosting people at her home! By the end, we felt like more than just guests - we felt like part of family! This house outside of Nakuru is becoming a welcoming point for people from all over the world, and we hope you get to come to share in the experience and make new friends as well!
