We were disappointed not enough linen was supplied, one of our key passes for the lift didn't work, we were unable to contact the host during our stay and an important item that we left behind in the apartment and called about as soon as we left was appently not found by the cleaners.

    Self-contained, air-conditioned guest suite with private entry and ensuite. Host family lives upstairs, you stay downstairs. You have your own space with a modern private ensuite and private keyed entry. A kitchen is also available for your use between the hours of 7am and 10am each morning (for breakfast) and between 5pm and 9pm each evening (for dinner) - see pics!. Free use of bicycles (2) included; easy access to CBD & Southbank via designated bikeway (no sharing road with cars!).
    Small modern self-contained air-conditioned suite. You have your own private entrance and key to come and go as you please from your own private space. The room has its own modern private ensuite (not shared) . You also have sole/exclusive use of a modern kitchen (not shared) for limited hours each day. This guest suite is located downstairs underneath a high-set classic Queenslander style house only 3 km from the Brisbane CBD. We live upstairs and will offer you assistance and hospitality if that is what you want, or total privacy if that is what you prefer. You can freely come and go as you please with your own key to your own private and self-contained accommodation. Our house is a "dual occupancy" house. The downstairs area can be rented as a 2 bedroom/ 2 bathroom house with kitchen and living room (sleeping up to six people). More often we rent it as two self-contained "guest suites". BE aware that if you are choosing to rent this room as a "guest suite" that there may be another airbnb guest staying in our other room downstairs. Your stay will be like staying in a house divided in two. You have secure accommodation with your own private keyed entry and your own bathroom/ensuite (not shared) and your own kitchen facilities (not shared) . However, you might sometimes hear some background noise because of other guests living on the other side of an internal (not sound-proof) wall. We ask guests to be aware of this and show consideration by trying to be reasonably quiet guests especially during typical sleeping hours and also when you are aware that other guests are home. You do not need to share facilities, but you do need to willing to be considerate of others especially in relation to noise. The local area is well-served by public transport (bus and train). An Uber into the CBD or The Valley (Brisbane's nightclub and live music precinct) will cost you only $10 unless you are travelling during peak hour traffic. The Brisbane airtrain travelling to the Gold Coast from Brisbane airport provides you with a direct link to our place. You get off at Park Road Railway station which is a 10 minute walk from our place (note - it takes longer if you are dragging luggage behind you!). Picking you up from the local train station with your baggage might be possible if your arrival in Brisbane is at a convenient time to us. We would need to discuss this with you via airbnb message service a day or two prior to your arrival to confirm that we can help you out. We will make every effort to allow for 24 hour check in (e.g. during the day when we are both at work, or even in the middle of the night) by making arrangements that enable you to collect your key and let yourself into your room without needing our assistance. However, due to past experience (our dog escaping when guests left gate open costing us $208 to retrieve him from the dog pound!), we require clear communication between you and us via airbnb messaging before we confirm any arrangements for you to check in without us being here!!) The room has two single folding Ikea sofa beds, which can also be configured into a queen size bed fitted with Queen sheets if you are travelling as a couple. You will need to tell us before your arrival if you want the beds made up as two single beds rather than a double bed. Otherwise, the room will have a double bed set up when you check in, There is a mini flat screen TV with built in DVD player in your room. WiFi internet will work easily in your room, even though modem is upstairs in our house. No off street parking available. If you have a car, we can provide you with a resident's guest parking permit to be displayed on the dashboard of your car which will prevent you from getting a parking ticket if your car is parked in our street for more than 2 hours between the hours of 9 am and 5pm Monday to Friday. But you must let us know that you will need this before you arrive. There will be a $20 security deposit required for the parking permit which will be returned when you give the permit back on your day of departure. We offer bicycles (2) free of charge with a bicycle lock also supplied - if you would like to explore inner Brisbane in this way. There are scenic bike rides along the nearby Brisbane River and Kangaroo Point cliffs which you can access using the bikeway system (no on road riding needed). We can give you information about the Brisbane bikeway system - maps etc - if this is your interest. We also have an e-bike as well as regular bicycles. Please ask in advance if you want to use the bikes. We actually live in a great spot for cycling enthusiasts who might be interested in exploring inner Brisbane via bicycle. If you think you might want to use the bicycles at night, please bring your own bike lights to attach to the bicycles. We will provide bicycle helmets and bike locks. You're welcome to use our laundry (front-loading washing machine) to catch up with laundry while here. Just let us know so we don't end up needing to both do laundry at the same time! Laundry liquid provided. No clothes dryer available, but you are welcome to dry your clothes on the clothes line in our back yard. This accommodation is quite small but it is modern, private, and separate/self-contained from our family's living space upstairs. It is therefore especially suited for people who might prefer the feeling of privacy provided by self-contained accommodation rather than having to share a bathroom or living space with others, but who might also travelling on a tight budget making a normal studio apartment too expensive. The cleaning fee of $20 includes your fresh linen and towels,and basic first morning breakfast supplies (milk, breakfast cereal, tea and coffee) if you are going to be checking in late - please just let us know, "Can we have complimentary breakfast supplies please!!) Ask us if you would like to borrow umbrellas from us . . . hopefully not required! In the past, we have had home stay students from overseas stay with us. Persons from overseas countries, with English as a second language or from different cultural backgrounds especially welcomed. We have hosted people immigrating to Australia who have used our airbnb as their first base as they find their way and settle in to a new country. We enjoy cultural exchange and learning. We seek to offer a special type of true hospitality to those who specifically ask for it. [Matthew 25:35-40] The option of joining us for dinner on our "deck" - Australian for "outdoor living room" - is available. This would need to be by discussion - depends on your dietary requirements and whether we can easily cater for them (We are not vegetarians - but eat vegetarian food at least twice per week and vegetarians can be easily catered for). Cost is $10 per person per meal. We request 24 hours notice if you are interested in taking up this offer. LEGAL DISCLAIMER.     Close to the city and CBD, with a good variety of cheap places to eat out if you have the information you need to find them, an area which is now suddenly experiencing urban renewal/gentrification in a big way. Look up our guide book for shopping and dining information. An Uber ride into the CBD is typically only $10, to the Southbank tourist precinct maybe even less than $10. Get the Uber app on your phone!!

  • Duncan is considerate, will make sure that everything is good before your arrival. He is on the more discrete side, not a host that wants to spend the whole week around you! The bikes were super useful to move around the city. The place was clean and well located to explore the city with bus or bike. Furthermore Duncan was really accommodating with an issue I had with my suitcase. Overall really great host and place, highly recommend!

Duncan was also very hospitable and communicated excellently. Definitely recommend this place if your visiting Brisbane! And as it's such good value you can save money to spend on the many trendy local cafes as we did :)

  • We stayed for 3 nights and were thrilled at the location of this apartment. Belinda and Blake were so welcoming and helpful. Due to traffic congestion on Bruce Highway, we needed to delay our arrival time. Belinda was willing to accommodate us and met us later in the day than first organised. The apartment was clean, tidy and was ideal for our trip. Highly recommended. Definitely happy to stay here again.

    Our Penthouse Studio offers a spacious open plan room, suitable for a single person, couple, family (including babies) and business travellers. Balcony overlooking the fabulous Hinterland views of Brisbane, the entire studio is exclusively yours. ☺ Apartment size: 80m2 Large balcony: with outdoor al fresco dining area. This is an open plan space with the option of a king size bed or 2x single beds. With 2x fold out sofa chair beds and a fold out bed are available for extra persons at an extra cost. Please note: this is more suitable for a family with 3 kids or teenagers. As it can become a bit crowded with 5 adults. But if you all are happy to save $$$, this could be an ideal arrangement. Guests have access to DVD player with DVDs. We also have DVDs suitable for children. For a family with infants and toddlers. I do charge $20 for the use of a Portacot, includes bedsheets and blankets. Please let me know if you wish to have this option so I can set it up prior to your arrival. But if you wish to set up the Portacot yourself and put away, then there is no charge or if your children are sleeping with you. We can set up a play tent upon request. I have a baby bath tub for your convenience. Ceiling fan in lounge space and in bedroom space with remote controls for extra comfort. Kitchenette - stand alone cooktop and stove - microwave - toaster - sandwich maker - jug - coffee plunger - pots, pans, utensils, crockery and more. My building is a hotel/apartment. There is a restaurant at Lobby level, open only for breakfast and serves continental breakfast during weekdays or there is Cafe 63 down the road (3mins walk). Bathroom - bath and hand towels - shampoo & conditioner - body wash - hairdryer. My Wifi is good enough for checking emails and for quick browsing. If you need a fast and great connection and needing it for work then this listing might not be for you. I have a suction grab bar for you to use to assists your balance while entering or exiting the shower. There are no steps in the apartment. Housekeeping is available at an added cost $25. This can be organised during your stay.

  • We booked Flasta's apartment for 8 days and we couldn've been happier. We were contacted beforehand and given clear directions as to how to get there and welcomed at the door by Flasta. A lovely apartment containing everything we needed as well as a great view (especially at night!) Very handy to transport and Flasta kindly offered to get any supplies we needed on at least 2 occasions. A very enjoyable stay and hopefully we will return. Besides all that the weather was perfect!   • We had a great visit at the Hillcrest Apartments Penthouse. Everything was just as it was advertised. The apartment was very clean and well maintained. It was also in a very good location. It is within walking distance of all the great restaurants and attractions in Southbank. It was also a perfect location for us as it was right next door to Mater Private Hospital and I needed to have some tests run. Our hostess, Flasta, was very friendly and extremely helpful and offered to store our luggage for us on our last day before we had to go to the airport. We would highly recommend this apartment. We hope to stay here again in the future.

  • I stayed at the penthouse with three friends for two nights and it was lovely. It is close walking distance to many bars and restaurants. Flasta was so kind to let us check in early and leave a bit later. The patio and views are stunning, and the beds were very comfortable! The kitchen was fully equipped, and we cooked two big dinners there. There is also a gym, pool, and sauna on the main level! I highly recommend this penthouse for anyone who wants a comfortable scenic stay close to South Bank!

    We had such a great time and Paula's and Thommo's place. The house is perfectly located in West End and many spots are within walking distance. The room is nicely decorated and the bed is really comfortable. We would to come back sometime and can recommend the Place to anyone.

    Tess was very welcoming, including my well behaved little pooch, on quite short notice. It was a wonderful quick escape . The studio was immaculate and comfortable with a really nice character. The deck and spa were a treat and surprisingly private for the location. Shame it was such a short stay or the BBQ would have been fired up too. Can't wait to return for more TLC - it's in such a convenient location. Thanks Tess
