Our Tiny House in the Trees is for whimsical and playful folks who like things intimate, cozy and homespun. You'll be charmed by how comfy and relaxed it feels to nest in an itty bitty home. (Super itty bitty.) Snuggle down! Enjoy your morning coffee on the porch and sleep snuggled up in the loft. Please really expect a TINY house. Indeed, this house is smaller than a hotel room. The Tiny House is in the backyard of our home. Our pup and our little boy are sometimes out back playing. You'll come in and go out through a a big gate at the top of the driveway. There's a latch on the gate that should be closed at all times. And just so you know, there's always a house project going on in the backyard. : )
Northgate Park straddles I85 on the north side of downtown Durham. Our place is in the northern half of Northgate, about a seven minute drive from downtown. It's a sweet and quiet neighborhood filled with friendly families riding their bikes and walking their dogs. • Mira & Jaretts place was cozy, clean & comfortable-- it had wonderful extra touches and were really accommodating. Highely recommend if you like tiny houses or want to try one out!

  • I loved everything about this tiny house! It was is quaint, clean, well-appointed and comfortable. Sleeping in the loft felt like I was sleeping in the trees. It is conveniently located, parking is a breeze and Jarret & Mira were wonderful hosts. I have been telling everyone about my stay and YOU should most definitely consider staying here!

    Erica2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We seriously can't say enough about this Tiny House or it's owners! The house was clean, well-stocked, and even more beautiful than it appears in pictures. The bed was so comfortable and the whole place had a very relaxed atmosphere. We were warmly welcomed by Jarrett and Mira. They made sure that we knew they were accessible if we needed anything at all but we still felt like we had our own, private retreat. Jarrett and Mira made our anniversary trip so special and memorable and we hope to return for another visit someday soon. We would highly recommend spending some time away in this Tiny Home.

  • My daughter and I felt like family sitting on the deck with Charlie their dog. Jarret and Mira were very welcoming to us. This was a surprise DOR my daughter and it exceeded all of her expectations!! Thank you again for sharing your Tiny home we loved our stay!

    Lisa2017-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Jarrett and Mira were so kind, it was like staying with old friends! Adjusted the welcome gift to reflect my young grandchild being with me. The tiny house was wonderful, just what we had hoped for. It was a marvelous experience for me and my grandson! They met us, explained about the house, had treats for us. The neighborhood is peaceful, quiet with lots of birds, and yet convenient to downtown Durham with Chapel Hill a short, easy ride away

    Elodie2016-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The neighborhood was small and older with narrow streets and well-kept homes. Our hosts greeted us and chatted with us about our questions about tiny-house living and building. They were friendly and knowledgeable! We totally would spend another night with them! The house was just as described--private, small, cozy, PERFECT! We loved our quiet time at the Tiny House in the Trees!

    Carolyn2016-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and lovely tiny house as described--much more memorable and special than a hotel stay. Not far from Duke and good restaurants/bars.

    melissa2017-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jarret and Mira were super friendly and offered great advice for what to do and where the best spots to eat were while we visited the area. Their place was great and everything my wife and I were looking for. I would recommend this tiny house to anyone!

  • Derrick was super helpful. Apt was cozy/clean and a great location!

    Rebecca2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Derrick was a great host and the apartment is great for a night out or day in downtown Raleigh!

    Whitney2017-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed Derrick's place so much! It's in a great location to downtown, it has a very chill vibe, he has tons of info about local spots for food, drink & entertainment & lots of little extras around the apartment. The ambience was just as nice outside as it was in, both scattered with a beautiful assortment of healthy plants, which may have been my favorite little detail about the stay. The options to hook up to a speaker system were pretty amazing too. I couldn't have asked for anything more in a host. We will definitely be back for another stay next time we visit downtown Raleigh. Thanks for sharing your place with us, Derrick!

    Miller2018-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Derrick's place was clean. He provided toiletries, clean towels and water. His bathroom is teeny, but it worked. We could easily walk or take a bus and we had plenty of room to park our cars. He left plenty of great suggestions and responded quickly to my texts. No problems at all.

    Mary2014-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was as stated and Derrick was a great communicator.

    Carol2016-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Derrick's place is great. Convenient to several restaurants. Very comfortable! A list of recommended places was provided and proved to be very helpful. Enjoyed the weekend very much! Thanks Derrick!

The guesthouse is one mile North of downtown Raleigh in a quiet neighborhood. You can walk to breakfast at Yellow Dog bakery, walk to dinner at highly rated restaurants, and end your day with chocolates from local chocolatier Escazu.
This 525 square-foot guesthouse is a private room above a detached garage. It has loft ceilings, generous lighting, a comfortable king-sized bed, comfortable full-sized futon, sitting area, and full-sized private bathroom. In-room Keurig coffee maker with coffee pods provided. Includes microwave, mini-frig, and plates and utensils.
The Person Street Corridor is the new hot area in Raleigh. For decades, the main draw on Raleigh’s North Person Street was historic Krispy Kreme. Now the area bordering Oakwood is bustling with new restaurants, bars and an upscale market. Retail shops contribute to the mix, giving the district a nice balance for patrons. There are two restaurants nearby that are almost always booked. I'd recommend getting a reservation as far ahead as possible. Stanbury (Hip, rustic venue for creative, seasonal New American small plates & entrees, plus craft cocktails). And Standard Foods (Hip, contemporary locale featuring updated Southern cooking & a market selling artisanal foods).
  • I was new to the area and Rebecca's place for perfect for direct access to everything I needed. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. Would absolutely recommend to other business travelers who are wanting to avoid the hotel scene.

    Jessica2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to get away from the hurry yet it's just a short drive from everything. Amazing amenities along with a great space, couldn't think of anything better for our time in town.

  • Look no further in Raleigh... This place checks all the boxes. Rebecca is also great with response time & tips, etc.

    Teke2017-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fantastic space, very close to downtown. Very walkable if so inclined and super easy to also grab an uber to get somewhere if not inclined to walk. I left my car there and walked to the south end of downtown, 1.5 miles and 25 min to red hat amphitheater area and it was great. Took uber back, super easy and convenient. The place was a perfect little hideaway and a great value I thought. Excellent host and space and I'd definitely use again.

Our yurt (30ft. dia.) is rustic, beautiful, in deep woods with deck overlooking pond. Great for couples, small families. Beds are futons. It's hot June-August; no A/C, lots of fans. It's cold Oct.-March; wood stove for heat. No kitchen/plumbing in yurt (there's a mini-fridge & microwave). Bath-house (toilet, sink & shower) is 2-min. walk. Includes hot tub & Woodland Banners Poetry Walk. Two minutes from Saxapahaw. Read whole description to know what to bring. NO PARTIES - SERIOUSLY.
This yurt offers an adventure in glamping. The large round canvas structure is sited in the woods, with its own big deck (with fire-pit) overlooking Frog Pond. Inside are electricity, , bottled water, 2 beds, wood stove, recliner and plenty of places to sit & chill. The big table is right for dining or doing projects. We offer coffee + coffeemaker (you make) but no breakfast. There's also a mini-fridge, microwave, plates, cups and utensils, fireplace wood. There is wi-fi & plenty books, games & DVDs (no TV; bring your laptop). The yurt is especially enjoyable in the spring and fall, and magically great in the rain. It can get cold in late fall/winter, esp. early morning. If you have a sleeping bag you love, bring it. It will be hot June-August.
Frog Pond Farm is located about two-and-a-half miles from Saxapahaw, a 200-year-old mill village on the Haw River. Saxapahaw is a thriving tourist destination, offering Saxapahaw General Store, The Eddy Pub, Cup 22 Coffeehouse, Haw River Ballroom, The Bridge Center for Healing Arts, Left Bank Butchery, Saxapahaw Museum, and Haw River Farmhouse Ales brewery. Look them up on the web for current events. Haw River Canoe & Kayak Co. can take you boating on the river, and you can hike the Haw River Trail. For supermarkets or liquor stores, you can drive to Graham (take Hwy 87 north) or to Carrboro/Chapel Hill (take Hwy 54 east); they are both 15 miles from Saxapahaw.
  • Linda and Steve were great! So was the yurt! It was a bit chilly when we went, and they made sure we had plenty of firewood. The yurt has so many amenities we brought way more stuff than we needed to! We bought fresh eggs from their free range chickens and they were delicious. The dogs were very friendly and fun to have around. This is a great little getaway spot!

    Allison2018-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I spent one night in Linda's yurt, and I wish we could have stayed longer. It was so wonderful. The yurt was cozy and well-equipped. The fact that drinking water and coffee (to brew) was available was an added bonus. The weather was chilly, but the hot tub, fire bowl, wood stove, and plenty of warm blankets made it easy to stay warm and cozy. My children loved wandering around, digging around in the pond, and hanging out with the animals. It would be a great place to stay as a couple or a small group of friends too. We will definitely be back.

    Jennifer2018-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • One-of-a-kind treat! The yurt is gorgeous with pretty touches like a skylight, ceiling fans and great back deck with tiki torches. Even with mid-30s temps, the wood-stove and hot tub kept us comfortable. It was definitely warmer inside the yurt than I'd imagined it would be. Linda and Steven were so kind, and their dogs are cuties! Such a special place. I can't wait to go again.

    Lauren2016-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • The host canceled this reservation 9 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

    Kat2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I always enjoy our time at the yurt! It’s our place to relax and unwind from the stress of daily life! Steve and Linda always make each visit exactly that! We’re frequent visitors to the yurt and love it more each time.

    Stephen2018-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • We could not have asked for a more incredible weekend. Linda and Steven were wonderful and accommodating hosts, staying up late to greet us when we had car troubles on our way. The yurt was absolutely amazing, so homey and cozy, and we loved our adorable puppy friends who escorted us to the bathroom and around the property while we were exploring! We had the best time hanging out in the yurt, as well as enjoying the quaint little town of Saxapahaw. Would highly recommend this little yurt get away to anyone!

    Holly2016-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay! Linda and Steve were wonderful hosts and the Yurt was magical. I will definitely be back.

    Carolina2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a fun time at the yurt! It was an incredible experience. It was a bit chilly but the wood stove warmed us up. The poetry walk and art gallery made the trip extra special. Linda, Stephen and their pups were excellent hosts. They made us feel extremely welcomed and told us some wonderful places to eat in the area. Definitely will recommend a stay in this yurt... cold and all, lol.

Sheri's place is absolutely beautiful. I so enjoyed staying there. I wish I could have stayed longer. Everything about it spoke comfort. The little details were my favorite. If I am ever in the Raleigh area again I will definitely be staying at Sheri's.

Couldn't have asked for a more cozy place to stay while we were in the area working all weekend! Very quiet neighborhood. My inner beer geek was happy since it was walking distance to two breweries, and less than a 5 minute drive to three more. :) Matthew was awesome at communication and helped us with extending our stay an additional night. Highly recommend this space. Great value!
