Just booked in Pittsfield
The oldest house in town, fully renovated. Two-story living room with pull-out couch; kitchen with stone counters and dishwasher, two bathrooms with warm floors. Floorboards upstairs a foot wide; queen size bed with view over the trees, creek and porch.
It's a roomy red sawmill that's 260 years old. There is wonderful light from windows set high and low. It's located across the garden from the big grist mill where we live, on two acres of beautiful gardens, creek and woods.
New Lebanon, at the top of Columbia County, New York, is a pretty funky town, not a Norman Rockwell town. Many people drive right through it to go north for antiquing or skiing, to take the scenic pass into Massachusetts or to pick up the nearby NY thruway. Our town is so small that there's only one stoplight, and that's a blinking one. There's no night life to speak of, no sidewalks, and we lack a big grocery store. The upside is that our site right next to the Berkshires is what makes the old sawmill such a good value, and so good for exploring. You can get easily to almost all the places you want to go-- more easily, we find, than from some of the Berkshire towns themselves. And whatever New Lebanon lacks in picket fences, it offers in glorious hillside viewscapes. The town has a remarkable allotment of Shaker history, such as the massive square ruins of the Great Stone Barn at Mount Lebanon. This was recognized by the World Monuments Fund as one of the 100 most significant endangered sites in the world, and it's right here and easy to visit. Lebanon Springs was also utterly famous in the nineteenth century for its warm water spa, frequented by luminaries like Charles Dickens, Mark Twain and the Marquis de Lafayette. The medicinal spring still courses down the hillside, but in obscurity now. There is plenty to enjoy here. Stop at Blueberry Hill Market Cafe for coffee and something delicious for breakfast or lunch. Try M&M's for a late dinner of burgers, wings, and some craft beer, or reserve at Mario's for a fancy meal. Trek by the beaver dams at Hand Hollow Conservation Area. Go to Meissner's on a Saturday at 4 for their antique auctions, where we've found astonishing values. You'll find a lot of information about local options in our online Guidebook. Our location turns out to be an excellent base for the range of travel and exploration in this area, or just for staying put and enjoying a rural escape, as so many of our airbnb guests have told us.
  • A unique opportunity to stay in a historic perfectly refurbished building. New Lebanon was central in the 19th Century Great Awakening and Shaker movement and this lovely mill puts you right in the heart of it. The place is spotless and beautiful in a totally secluded area.

  • Our stay at the Saw Mill was excellent. Our hosts were delightful and extremely attentive. Would definitely come back!

  • The Old Sawmill is very comfortable, cozy, modern, and a wonderful stay. The location is close to the Berkeshires and a convenient quick drive to many parks and hikes and things to see and do. Joe is a fantastic host who helped show me around and also gave me space to just relax. The setting is lovely and private, everything is well-stocked, including some food items in case I got hungry. Washer/dryer also came in handy! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • We knew going to the Berkshires would be beautiful, staying at the Sawmill just made it perfect!! Joe and Fiona were the most gracious host. We arrived about 4 hours late due to a delayed flight. They greeted us with smiles in the rain as if we were family. The fridge was filled with little surprises that added the perfect touches. The house has everything you need to fix or heat up a meal. Bathrooms have nice soaps and great towels, the bedroom has good linens. The area surrounding the mill has so much to see and do. They provide plenty of information on the surrounding areas. You have hikes, historical sites, great farms with cheeses, apples, cider and so much more. MT Greylock was a beautiful drive up. We sat at the top surrounded by snow from a recent fall for quite a while just taking it all in. We could have cared less we were cold. We had fall and winter while we were there since it snowed a few inches while we were there. Joe even made sure we enjoyed the snow by providing sleds to enjoy the hill on the property. They are there when you need them, but never once do you feel you don't have your privacy. We could not have chosen a better place to spend a week. We look forward to going back soon. Thank You Joe and Fiona for making our time so memorable.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the saw mill. Joe was easy to communicate with. He greeted us upon arrival and gave us a tour of the house. We enjoyed that breakfast foods were available and really enjoyed the fresh local eggs. This is a great place to stay if you plan to visit the Berkshires, as we did. We also enjoyed great beer with the locals at Chatham Brewery and a delicious wine tasting at Hilltop Orchards, both very close to the house. We would definitely stay here again.

  • What a wonderful place to stay while exploring the Berkshires! My best friend and I had a super Moms-Weekend-Away, staying at the Old Sawmill. Adorable building. Beautiful yard. Gracious host! We cooked in. Slept in. Got out. Drove around. --- Beds were comfy. Showers were hot. Kitchen was well equipped. We were greeted by Fiona who gave us the history of the place and made sure that we knew she was there if we needed anything. There was milk in the fridge, coffee available, and the dishwasher was great because when moms get away NO ONE wants to do the dishes! Loved the airy spot and will plan to go back!

  • As artists and musicians we were seeking a space that was close to museums and nature but also a retreat for music making and art making. We chose the perfect place!!! The Mill House was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Joe and Fiona are the sweetest hosts we could have imagined. Looking at the site we were a little concerned being that their house was right next door. But they were very respectful of giving us the space we needed. They were also very responsive whenever we had questions or special requests, like contacts for a massage therapist or acupuncturist. This was our rst Airbnb experience and it was amazing. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes and all of the basic necessities. When we arrived there was fresh local milk, eggs, water, coffee, and tea. The Mill House also had a book full of information about the house amenities as well as local businesses. We loved the Blueberry Hill market Cafe!!! There was also tons of information on all of the museums, parks and things to do in the area. We loved looking through all of the art books provided on the book shelves as well. The mill itself is a beautiful space to be in. It is warm, cozy, full of light and we felt right at home. We had quite a bit of rain during our stay but we loved staying in and painting, playing and recording music. When it was not raining we were outside doing the same thing in the beautiful surroundings in the area. Another pleasant surprise was the Shaker Village not to far up the street. We would denitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to explore museums and nature or just hunker down for a lovely retreat. This is a beautiful home with wonderful hosts and we can’t say enough good things about our week long experience there.

  • Fiona and Joe are gracious hosts and had thought of everything a guest could possibly want/need during their stay. This is a great property for history buffs! We liked being near main attractions, like Tanglewood, but enough off the beaten path to have peace and quiet. The guest access to Queechy Lake is a nice plus. Would definitely stay again!

  • This was the perfect apartment for a visit to Jacob's Pillow, Tanglewood, or the museums in Williamstown and North Adams. Allison was very friendly, and clear with her instructions. She made the move-in very smooth. The apartment is perfect for two people. It is well appointed, and very comfortable. It has all the amenities you need. And I would definitely stay here again!

    Kris2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Allison's place was the perfect getaway for us. So clean, comfortable, and with a sweet backyard. Would love to stay again!

  • Quick response time, clean, cute place!

  • If I ever come back to this area, this will be at the top of my choices to stay in. What a charming little place! It’s really cozy and clean. The bed was comfortable which is hard to come by with Airbnb’s. We couldn’t want for anything during our stay as all necessities were right at our fingertips. The location is great as well! We were about a 15 minute car ride away from a cute downtown area that had shops and restaurants.

    Valentina2018-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Allison and her place were great - easy drive to everything in town and the apartment was both neat and clean. I highly recommend staying here if you come to Pittsfield for business or pleasure

The Writer's Cottage is a tiny white house on a country road; vintage, complete, and inspiring. Built in the nineteenth century, it's perfect for a solo traveler or a pair of travelers exploring the Berkshires and the Hudson Valley. If you like rustic buildings, you'll be a fan of the cottage; it's an incredibly cozy time warp. Find an airy loft up narrow enclosed stairs, but everything you need to be comfortable is right on the first floor. Enjoy the orchard outside and an acre of lawn.
The Writer's Cottage is in private use until December of 2018, but you are welcome to book for holiday use at the end of the year, and for dates in 2019. For its small size, the cottage has several discrete spaces. Downstairs is a bedroom with a queen size bed and two cozy chairs. A well-equipped kitchenette has a ship lap vaulted ceiling and a round table that seats four, plus an ample mudroom for jackets, skis, boots and fishing poles. A writing room is just big enough for a cozy sofa and a desk, with a view of the orchard. The sofa opens up into a comfortable single bed, good for either an adult or a child. This room is also a good place to put a crib. There's a narrow bathroom next door. Up an amazing tiny enclosed staircase is an open loft space perfect for meditation, music, reading, privacy, or painting. The loft could be an extra bedroom too. We can put a double air mattress on a bed frame up there at your request, if you're willing to navigate those steep stairs with care at night! Note that the stairs lead right into the downstairs bedroom, which may be a privacy issue for some. This is an ideal spot for a weekend respite from the city, or as a base to explore the area. It calls to people working on creative projects, or those looking for a longer hiatus. It has all the important amenities, like good cell service, light, and dedicated wireless internet. It also offers quality linens and pillows, shampoos and soaps, nice china and good coffee, but no dishwasher and no tv. The doorways are narrow and the upper loft space is only six feet tall. But there's lots of old wood and so much charm. Relax on deck chairs or the hammock out back, on the porch out front, or set up lunch at the table and chairs on the grassy acre outside the back door. Some more features: even in midsummer, this area offers generally comfortable evening temperatures, but for the occasional night when it's hot, you'll find air conditioning available. People tell us that they like to know more about how we care for the beds and linens, so here is a little detail. We use sheets with high thread counts and wash them in Seventh Generation natural detergent. Pillows and comforters are down-alternative. We use protective anti-allergen covers for pillows, and encase the bed's mattress and box spring too. There's a place for hangers on the back of the bedroom door. For longer stays, there's a chest of drawers and a full-size closet up in the loft.
The Writer's Cottage is a great retreat both in summer and winter, whether you prefer a cozy break or search for culture and action. It's perfectly positioned for taking advantage of the Berkshires, including so much fine music, theater, food, art and natural beauty that you can't possibly do it all justice no matter how hard you try. Tanglewood is about 20 minutes away, and so is the Kripalu Yoga Center. There is a swift, scenic route to get to both of those from here, through pasture and forest, and ending with a wonderful view of the Stockbridge Bowl. In the winter, ski trails at Jiminy Peak or Bousquet are less than a half hour away, and Butternut is just a little farther. Hiking trails and conservancies abound. In the springtime, it's great to see the leafy woods and gardens emerge. It's locavore and farmer's market heaven in the summer and fall. Another summertime treat hidden nearby is Queechy Lake, with lifeguard and sandy shore, one of the cleanest and most delicious lakes in New York state. There's also a nice local park in town, with two newly refurbished tennis courts. Check out our online guidebook for a full listing of the places we love most around here for visit or a meal. There are seven fine art museums, eight theater companies, three Shaker villages and two orchestral venues within an hour's radius. We're a good jumping -off point for visiting the Berkshire towns-- it takes about 20 minutes to get to Lenox, Pittsfield and West Stockbridge in Massachusetts, for example. You're also only about twenty minutes from several other historic towns and villages of New York, such as Old Chatham, Canaan, and Spencertown.
  • The Writers Cottage was an absolute gem. Well appointed and comfortable. It met all of our needs. The owners also provide a handy guidebook on local points of interest, including food, culture, and more. Easy access to tanglewood (18-20minutes). A wonderful respite at the end of a busy day. Quaint, quiet, and very cozy.

    Adam2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Writers Cottage is delightful, very clean, fully equipped, very comfortable, just as described and close to Tanglewoos and Lenox. We enjoyed our stay and plan to go back. Check in was easy. We kept busy exploring and didn't have enough time to really enjoy the outside areas, but they looked very inviting.

    Karen2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • I surprised my boyfriend with this weekend getaway to New Lebanon for Christmas with the plans to go skiing at Jiminy Peak ( a very short drive from the writers cottage) Best gift ever. Upon driving up to the writers cottage looking at the surrounding area can be a bit concerning, but DO NOT judge a book by its cover. We were welcomed into a cozy loving little home in a quiet intimate little town. Tegan gave us a tour upon arrival and made sure we were comfortable and provided with everything we needed for our stay. The house was so warm and inviting and felt very safe. Cleanliness was top notch and we had more than enough amenities for our stay. The guidebook was very helpful and Tegan recommend a local cafe called the Blueberry, it's an understatement when I say it was a local gem. The food was farm to table and some of the best we've had. New Lebanon doesn't have much going on but we had no trouble finding a local bar or restaurant to try and it made the experience all the more an adventure. It was a fabulous stay and we would definitely return again.

    Sarah2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a delightful, private, quiet, unusual cottage with its own big lawn and outdoor furniture. It is very well equipped and attractively furnished and decorated. Host Tegan was sweet. It is pretty far from Tanglewood and Jacob's Pillow, though. Minor downside: shower is tiny and there is no bathtub.

    Julia2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed our stay. Really nice space

    Matt2017-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the writer's cottage was like living in a storybook! It was so adorable, so many interesting nooks and crannies to explore in this little house! Joe, Tegan and Maia were super friendly and helpful, and explained some of the history behind the Writer's cottage. A must stay in the berkshires!

    Eletha2016-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome stay! Super cute cottage in quiet and picturesque neighborhood! It snowing now, very romantic! Cottage has everything you need to do basics, cooking, laundry, etc and very peaceful place to focus on your passion.

  • Fiona, Joe, and Tegan are the most kind, generous, and accommodating hosts I've ever had through Airbnb. The cottage was fully stocked with anything I might need, including the kitchen and bathroom. The property itself is very well-maintained, quiet, and extremely safe. Heating/AC is great as well. I would highly recommend this cottage, as well as their other listings on Airbnb.

  • Paul’s place was perfect - we came to the area to go to a performance at Tanglewood and this fit the bill! The cottage looks like it could “go either way” from the outside, yet once you enter, you’re greeted by a lovely, creative, colorful, cheerful home filled with thoughtful touches. We loved it and would highly recommend!

Our place is a central location in Berkshire County, short drive to restaurants and shops; art and culture, skiing and hiking also close by. You’ll love this former train station( next to the Housatonic RR tracks) which is on three acres between a chapel, the scenic Housatonic River and October Mountain. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
Entrance is off a rear deck to a shared entrance foyer. There are three steps from the driveway to the deck and one step into the foyer. Your room is off the foyer, and with the bathroom is fully contained . You will be given keys for the foyer door and the door to your room. You also can control the heat in your room. You have a coffee maker, microwave and a small refrigerator.
Tanglewood is about 6 miles away, and Kripula 6.3 miles. Bousquet Ski Resort is 3 miles north, and Jiminy Peak 16 miles.
  • Charlie was the ultimate communicator and host. As stated in other reviews, the room is completely private and set off from the other living areas in the building. There is a very comfortable bed, a small refrigerator in the room, a small microwave, and a coffee maker with everything needed to make a few cups of coffee. Charlie also provided lots of useful extras, like napkins, cups and paper plates, and a little bit of chocolate! This room was an excellent value, and Charlie's premier hosting is -- to our way of thinking -- what Airbnb is all about.

    Julia2016-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a delightful home away from home you will find at Charlie and Margaret's lovely (Website hidden by Airbnb) the beautiful Berkshire town of Lenox. They are just outside town which made my stay relaxing enough to be truly in nature but steps away from town and accessible to all the great sites of the area. As I was traveling for business, I was delighted to have such a nice little flat that had it all...own privacy, entrance, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, desk...and the most comfortable bed that I have found in all my travels! Charlie and Margaret are also so nice and quite accessible if you should need anything! :) I would highly recommend their place to anyone who would like a quiet retreat...for pleasure or for business!

    Kathleen2017-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie and Margaret are the best! The room was exactly as described (like a studio apartment except no stove, but there is a mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave). Very peaceful and quiet environment on the outskirts of Lenox. Would definitely stay there again.

  • This was the perfect, quiet spot for me for a weekend conference. Comfy bed, peace and quiet. Loved the in room coffee and tea.

    Tracy Liz2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Was perfect for what I needed - which was a place close to Kripalu and private. No issues whatsoever. Everything was clearly laid out.

    David2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is the best Air BNB I have stayed in so far. Very private, quiet, nice area, very comfortable bed, easy to communicate with the hosts, and they are very helpful an flexible about arrival and leaving. Microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot works great for me! Definitely my place of choice when I stay in the Berkshires.

    Nancy2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute place, comfortable bed, private bathroom, fridge with local apple cider was a plus, set up like a nice cozy hotel room, private entrance. Close to restaurants, the hosts were very hospitable. Would definitely recommend and stay again in the future.

A quiet, secluded house with fireplace and jacuzzi on a clean swimmable lake near Jacob's Pillow and other Berkshires attractions.
2 Bedroom house on a half acre on beautiful clean lake. High speed wireless internet which reaches the lake, washer-dryer, large deck and sunroom. The original house was a single story open plan. We added a second floor which includes a spacious queen bedroom and a fireplace as well as a spacious bathroom with granite counter tops and a large Kohler jacuzzi. There is a memory foam 3 inch topper to the bed for extra comfort. The downstairs has a bedroom with a full size bed and closet. There is an additional bathroom downstairs with shower. We also added a beautiful sunroom with a full futon couch. The downstairs has a wood burning stove for a cozy night indoors. The downstairs is also open and spacious with wood floors, the kitchen and upstairs are remodeled and furnished. Down by the water there is a fire pit for a marshmallow or hot dog on a stick barbeque over an open flame. Make sure to drench the fire when leaving to go back upstairs. The lake is clean and very nice for swimming. There is a sandy beach across the way that you can walk to from the house for an easy way into the water. Don't go into the water from the property as it is muddy and slippery. The beach across the house is private and has nice sand all the way into the water. The house is 5 minutes from Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, 15 minutes from the Dream Away Lodge (quite the night spot! with live music and great food and ambiance) 25 minutes from Shakespeare and Co and Tanglewood. The house is in a forest and prone to visitations from wild critters. Be sure not to leave any food outside. Put the fire out completely before leaving the fire pit by the lake. Field mice are everywhere but they are friendly and non-toxic. You may hear them in the walls but they are docile and keep to themselves.
The forest and the clean lake are the reasons I like the neighborhood. There is also a quaint general store in the forest that serves breakfast. Lots of local color and friendly helpful people. New England style friendliness is reserved but positive.
  • Nana's house is really magical. Beautiful house, with an excellent design (I loved details like the window that allows you to see the stars from bed), perfectly furnished, and in a truly quiet and beautiful spot, surrounded by trees and very close to the lake. Nana's was extremely helpful, making the whole process of entering into the house very easy. She also gave us great advice about the surroundings. I am already recommending Nana's house to all my friends. I spent 4 great days.

    Pablo2013-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • What to say about such a magical spot? Nana’s place is just fabulous. Great vibes inside and out, not generic or staged-feeling and very clean. Reading in the sunroom was a favorite activity and the kitchen is fully stocked for home cooking. The bed was very comfortable and the views from the bedroom and deck are really wonderful. Morning coffee sitting down at the water was also a favorite activity. I brought my girlfriend to this part of the Berkshires so that I could propose to her at The Dream Away Lodge. Nana’s place was the absolute perfect spot to come back to - especially with my new fiancée.

    Michael2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time at Nana's home! Other than the rain -- which was persistent! -- it was great. The area is filled with hidden gems, like Mass MoCa!, the setting was lovely and the house was great. Lovely views, gracious accommodations, and an engaging visit with our host made for a wonderful vacation!

    David2013-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nana was extremely communicative, and concerned about our needs. She left us to our privacy, but we felt very well taken care of. The house was better than described- it's beautiful and well-kept. The downstairs bedroom was perfect for our 10-month baby, as it was quiet and dark. After the baby was in bed, my husband and I had plenty of space to relax upstairs after a full day of hiking, kayaking or seeing friends in the area. We would definitely come back!

    Becca2015-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • I am so glAD to have gone and experienced the magic myself in spite of mice, critters, poor wifi...and being in a forest! Turns out, the house is wonderfully situated by a lake, wifi reception was strong, there was no sight or sound of mice, and I spotted a couple of cute chipmunks outside. It's a charming little house, perfect for a couple to disconnect from all others and reconnect with each other. The home is quaint, cozy, and peaceful, with all the amenities one could readily think of (less food & bedding). And the sun room is indeed aMazing! There was an array of outdoor activities (farm stands, museum, hiking, dancing, mini concerts, newly opened MGM nearby), and good vibes in the community ... The GPS signal was lost as we ventured out so, yes, a major phone network would be helpful. We're looking forward to returning for the cold season, so we'd have a legitimate reason for staying inside and basking in the quiet & laziness. We appreciate the accommodations provided by the host. Cheers to taking breaks!

  • Great place to stay, wonderful location, view, quiet! Only recommendation is 4 wheel drive and or park at the top of driveway if unsure. Nana, is great and very responsive. Recommend this place and take care of the bliss!

  • My boyfriend and I had a lovely long weekend up at Nana's home in Becket. It was incredibly beautiful and quiet and relaxing. We took total advantage of Nana's well stocked kitchen, cooking meals everyday, and so enjoyed relaxing in the peaceful and bright sunroom. The jacuzzi tub was such an added bonus as well! Nana was very communicative and checked in with us a few times to be sure all was good and to reach out with any questions we had. We had a great night and delicious meal at the Dream Away Lodge, which Nana highly recommended. I would come back here in a heartbeat!!

    Tess2017-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very lovely home. Nana was a good host. She provided great tips on the area and came to help with a light that was out.. The location was great if you are going to events at Jacob's Pillow. It was very close. Very quiet retreat. Internet worked well which was important to me since I had to work. There is a nice small beach so you can swim in the lake and it is just around the other side of the lake. It was very hot when we were there.

Private and spacious guest house off of the main house where I live. Private entrance, queen pillow-top bed, private bathroom and mini-kitchenette (no stove) with mini fridge and sink. Working fireplace. Lovely garden view with sitting area. 10 min drive to Lenox and 5 min to downtown Pittsfield. Right down the street from MA Audubon Canoe Meadows with hiking trails.
Private guest studio off of the main house where I live with my two children, ages 6 and 9 and friendly dog. It comfortably fits 2 and is spacious and airy.
Location! 10 min straight shot to Lenox or 5 min to downtown Pittsfield. On a main road but tucked away with a private yard that makes you feel secluded and private. Beautiful preserved hiking area 1/4 mile away.
  • This is great value for the Pittsfield area—it was our own private space with everything we could need for a few days. We didn't get a chance to meet Molly, but she was very responsive over text whenever we had a question.

    Nina2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Molly was great! I brought my dog up and stayed for a few days and the fenced in backyard was perfect, not to mention she had a few doggo friends to play with! The bed is SO comfy I never wanted to get out. Loved the local hike & restaurant recs too. If you're thinking of traveling to the area, I highly recommend Molly's place!

  • Super comfy, cute and private space, just right for my husband and I. Easy drive to Tanglewood and everything else we wanted to do. Kitchenette was very convenient. Loved being able to have a cup of tea (tea bags and kettle provided!) in the beautiful garden. Would definitely stay here again.

    Jennifer2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful space and area. Molly was quick in responding to questions. Highly recommend!

    Cynthia2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • What I loved best about Molly's place was how peaceful the setting is, and how much attention to detail she has as a host. It was perfect for me on a solo business trip, and I think would also suit a couple well. Molly was an attentive host who also gave me all the privacy I needed. The studio is at the back of the family home, with its own private entrance, but adjacent to the main house. I could sometimes here children or dogs during the daytime hours but it was always welcome and only added to the charm of staying in Molly's home. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Love this little space ideally located. Cozy fireplace, comfy bed, nice bathroom and kitchenette. Perfect place to come after the museums, hiking and eating out in the beautiful Berkshires. Molly is great!

    Gregg2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • The place was just as charming and clean as it looks in the photos. There's a lovely outdoor space as well. Molly was a wonderful host, and we highly recommend staying at her guest studio.

    Kathy2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Just as beautiful a room as pictured with a very comfortable bed. Our daughter stayed with us too and slept on an equally comfortable mattress on the floor. The refrigerator and coffee setup in the kitchen was great for a quick start in the mornings. Beautiful outdoor area too! Molly was very friendly and accommodating - highly recommended!

Come enjoy all the Berkshires has to offer while staying in this comfortable, modern cabin in the woods - stroll, bike, or drive to the lake's sandy beach for a refreshing dip. Canoe available at lake for guest use. Enjoy starry skies in the private yard with fire pit and hot tub. Use of a telescope for stargazing. Wifi, smart TV's, comfortable memory foam beds, kitchen stocked with utensils, amenities, coffee, tea, spices & condiments.
Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival is just down the road, and Lenox / Tanglewood is a very scenic short drive away. Visit the cute Sherwood Shoppe for home-cooked meals including breakfast all day long, beverages and food to stock the fridge with, and take some local grass-fed meat home to grill burgers on the propane grill. We try to think of anything you might need to forget all your cares and relax - please let us know if there's anything else that would help in that aim.
Community is free of streetlights, and is mainly dirt roads, so I ask guests to try to arrive during daylight for their own convenience, but this is not mandatory. Snow: road clearing is quick and thorough, but please use caution during snow or muddy conditions (usually early spring) Some roads can be steep, as this is very hilly territory, but we have provided maps to show you how to get anywhere in the community via the easiest and flattest routes (You do NOT need W4D). I send different routes depending on the season, prior to your stay. We have also provided detailed routes to the lakes, where the canoe is docked, and so on (in house guide book).
  • Loved staying at Alison's place. My business partner and I went for a quick company retreat to do some summer planning and talk about our values. The location + house lent itself so well for that. Even though it rained most of the time we were there, we got out, walked around, took a plunge in the ice cold lake, and enjoyed the hot tub. The neighborhood is beautiful. Seems like there is lots do nearby but we didn't venture out during the day or night, except for casual strolls. The house itself is fully equipped with tons of resources -- a great TV, hot tub, comfortable rooms, and well-stocked kitchen! Would come back :)

    Fahad2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was located in a nice secluded area, yet was still close to this. Gs to do. Alison had a folder full of restaurant suggestions and suggestions of things to do. There were puzzles and games and the hottib was great. She was quick to answer any questions we had and made some personal suggestions of where to eat. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

    Lauren2018-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • The house was decorated really nicely. A lot of privacy! There was an issue with the hot tub which was a bummer but I think it’s a one off! Cool downtown area in Lee. Nice lake!

    Renny2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is very cozy and quaint. We came up for our anniversary and visited beautiful surrounding towns like Great Barrington (Barrington Brewery and Bash Bish Falls), Pittsfield (The Hot Dog Ranch) and Dalton, MA. The woods surrounding the cabin are peaceful, outside there’s some noise from nearby airports but we could see the stars! You will need all-wheel drive to get up the road, especially in Winter-get your car serviced before heading up so you don’t have any problems. The place itself is spacious, modern, and has the necessary amenities. We would recommend eating out over cooking, as there are not always basic ingredients available at the house. Bring your own towels to make sure you have clean, extra towels at hand. If you need anything, call Alison and she will accommodate you as best she can, she is very kind and responsive.

  • Nice little getaway with good scenery and peaceful setting. Overall, enjoyed our stay. Thanks

  • Wonderful little home in the woods. Nice for a quiet vacation. Its about 20-30 minutes to town where there are cute cafes and shops as well as gas and quick coffee stops. You are surrounded my the woods which is super pretty. The hot tub it amazing. If you go in at night you can relax in the warm bubbly water while stargazing. We had an amazing stay. P.s. The beds are super comfy.

The Cabin at Rooted and Wild is a magical retreat in the woods of the Upper Hudson Valley. It is a restful getaway to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the city, and reconnect with your self and nature. The space is stocked with everything you need to unwind, nourish, and recharge your body, mind and spirit.
This cabin has all the amenities that you will need for your stay. We desire for you to have the best rest and refresh designed especially for you. We have one King sized bed in the bedroom, with two huge closets. There is a dynamite pull out sofa and as well as a crib and changing table, if needed. The book shelves are lined with dreamy novels, health and wellness reads, as well as an array of kids books too. In the kitchen/living room/office is a sweet quiet desk area, and a full kitchen and bar. There is a Ninja blender, a coffee maker, pots and pans, dishes, forks, spoons, herbs, spices, and anything you could possibly need for your stay. You don't have to bring anything, but yourself. The view from the house is impeccable, surrounded by glorious pines that you can even gaze at through the bathroom window. The cabin has radiant heat and split unit AC so it is great for any time of year.
If you are looking to get out and about, we are five minutes from the quaint town of Old Chatham, which has a country store and one restaurant. Only ten minutes away is the adorable Town of Chatham, which has several great restaurants, and cute shops. We are 35 minutes from the City of Hudson, the "hub of hip" in upstate NY, packed with live music, restaurants, ad events all year round. A drive to Albany, our state capital is only 40 minutes away, as well as the super happening city of Troy. We are 30 minutes from the gorgeous Berkshires, Great Barrington, and Kripalu (A center for yoga and health that includes a delicious restaurant, a store, and many classes and workshops with world renowned teachers.) As you can see, we are very centrally located!

A wonderful welcoming house in a beautiful residential neighborhood. Our favorite things to do within 15 minutes are Tanglewood, Kripalu , Mt Greylock, the Norman Rockwell Museum, skiing and hiking nearby. Our home is centrally located to all of the fun things to do in the Berkshires. We've lived here for over 20 years and are happy to provide helpful insights for your stay. One of the reasons we love the Berkshires is that each season offers wonderfully unique experiences for any visitor.
The large guest suite/studio is perfect for three people with a comfortable king-sized bed, twin bed and plus a queen-sized air mattress can be added to accommodate more guests. The spacious room also offers a private full bath, seating area (loveseat, TV and coffee table ) plus a large walk-in closet for your belongings. A mini-refrigerator is provided to guests as well as coffee maker. The guest room is located on our second floor so there are steps to get into our home as well as into the guest area.
We live directly across the street from an elementary school so the area is busy for a small period of time each morning and each afternoon when school is in session. Otherwise it is a diverse and safe neighborhood with kids traveling back and forth to the playground and adults walking, biking and running.
  • Great place to stay! Very friendly hosts, clean and well stocked and spacious rooms with plenty of privacy with the option to socialize with this bright and interesting family. The neighborhood was quiet and easy to find. I was very pleased staying here and would stay here again.

  • Too many lovely amenities to list. Josie has thought of everything! Quiet neighborhood. Lovely family. Will definitely stay again if I'm in the area. Highly recommended!

  • My stay was stress-free and relaxing. Super clean , comfortable with lots of extra touches that really made things easy. Josie and Scott were gracious and friendly. Josie even batted 2 for 2 on restaurant advice in town, as I loved both places. Completely satisfied with my 4-day stay, and would do so again.

  • Engaging hosts that are available but afford all the privacy you require

    Kevin2018-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Could not have been more welcoming when we arrived. The room we stayed in was terrific. The amenities such as a coffee maker made it great in the morning. We were there for a training but we were able to come and go as we wanted. I don't think you could get a better place to stay in this area.

    jay2018-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Ugh. Wow. An absolute delight. From the big big big bed to the happy mom & dad vibes, this place was a treat.

    Christopher2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Josie’s place was clean, quiet, lovely, and thoughtful. Scott gave us a warm welcome when we arrived and also gave us helpful local tips. We very much enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended!

    Chika2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Josie & Scott are wonderful hosts. The accommodations exceeded our expectations. The bedroom was huge with a grand king sized bed. They even provided a small refrigerator and were kind enough to put some juices in it for us. They also provided a coffee maker and coffee. To top that off, Josie made us a small banana bread which was very tasty. The bedroom had it’s own large bathroom with shower/tub. There is a comfy small loveseat in the bedroom so you can hang out there is you want to. But there is a nice screened porch in the front of the house and a back deck available. While they have four cats in the house, we hardly noticed them. They are very quiet and tend to keep to themselves. Unless you are allergic to cats, you would hardly notice that they are there and there was no cat smell. Overall we had a wonderful time at this quaint home. Josie and Scott are also very interesting people and if you stay at their home, you should make a point to talking with them. Highly recommend.

Relax in our bright, very spacious, and quiet loft, on six open acres. Lounge on the stone terrace, under the stars, by a cozy fire, near the garden. 35 min to Northampton, 35 min to MassMoca, 10 min to Berkshire East. Wi-Fi, satellite TV , cell coverage, Hearthstone wood stove. Fully outfitted kitchen, home made granola, milk, beverages. Two hybrid bikes available for use. The pics don't do the apartment justice- there are 3, 5-foot long skylights, and a cathedral ceiling= much natural light!
The apartment has a queen sized bed, coffee maker (with coffee provided), plenty of pots, pans and utensils, and a new 39" HD TV with DIRECTV satellite service. The space is newly renovated with nine new windows, and new paint on the walls, ceilings, and floors. There are three, 5 foot long skylights on the slanted ceiling- one in the living room, one in the kitchen, and one in the bathroom. There are just about six acres of open field, which faces south/southwest, and a beautiful vegetable garden with stone terraces at both ends. We also built a Black Locust pergola at the south end of the garden, which sits atop a Goshen stone terrace (we just planted grapes, but they're still very short!). There is also a fire pit at one end of the garden, and an outdoor fireplace at the other end. There are flower gardens in several spots on the property. We are 100 yards from the public library, which, itself, has recently been upgraded in a major way. Our home also houses a one room post office (300 sq. feet), which is open from 12pm to 4pm, M-F, and 8:30am to 11:30am on Saturday. It's rarely busy...
Our house is centered in the Plainfield Historical district. Plainfield is a town of less than 600 people. Very nice walks and bike rides, right outside our front door! Here's a link to a blog write up (with pics) of one guest's recent stay here... http://coreylynntuckerphotography.com/2017/12/30/non-traditional-christmas-getaway-plainfield-massachusetts-airbnb/#
  • Charming apartment, the perfect mix of rustic and modern. Comfortable and clean. Thoughtfully and beautifully decorated. Kitchen fully equipped for cooking. The backyard and patio garden are so lovely and relaxing! We were invited to pick the delicious blueberries that were growing out back. Also, we borrowed the 2 bikes for a nice bike ride around the town. Thanks Peter and Paula!

    Aiham2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Peter was flexible and responsive with us from the start. When we arrived he had already started a fire in the wood stove. The place was impeccable and stunning. The pictures really don't do it justice! It had everything we needed to make a nice dinner and just chill and flick through the many cable channels (a luxury to us truly). In the morning we made a nice breakfast and relaxed in the very big backyard. The patio is really lovely and the best part about the whole place is how quiet it is. Definitely within driving distance of all you need but removed enough so you get the farm vibe.

    Katyann2018-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fantastic getaway. Beautiful location, beautiful apartment. Peter and Paula couldn't have been nicer. Highly recommended.

    T.2015-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Peter and Paula's listing is a lovely, well laid-out, comfortable and spacious little apartment. We cooked a lot and spent some time eating in their backyard terrace, which is just gorgeous. This is a great escape from city life, surrounded by trees and hills, open skies, gardens, flowers, farms, etc. Our hosts were incredibly thoughtful, providing granola, milk, orange juice, coffee and tea, salt, pepper, oil, and sugar. There were also magazines and brochures about the surrounding area, and a ton of books about hiking and traveling through Western Mass. There was also games and satellite TV, really anything you could ask for. We had such a nice time and would happily return.

    Valentina2015-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing apartment, amazing hosts! What more can you say? We spent almost a week in Plainfield w/ Peter and his lovely wife and could not have been happier. Only complaint is that we met the couple only towards the end of our trip over coffee and pastries and did not have more time to hang out with them. Could not recommend more!

    Al2015-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Full of historical character, this was a one-bedroom suite with a kitchenette on the top floor of the building.

Visit Tanglewood, Kripalu, Jacobs Pillow, Jiminy Peak, Bousquet Mountain, Lebanon Valley Speedway, Albany, Pittsfield, Lenox... go for a hike, ski, visit Furnace Brook Winery or just relax on our property and unwind.
First built in 1834, our house was a carriage house (with horse parlor) that was set behind the grand house unfortunately lost in a fire. Our house mostly survived the fire, was beautifully restored and has been used for several things....including an Inn, a restaurant and legend has it as being a Jin Joint during prohibition and used as a gangster hideaway,. It has also been a gambling house, roadhouse and in 1939 was raided by the Feds who seized $10,000 worth of gambling equipment. Rumor has it that it was possibly a stop for the Underground Railroad. In more recent years it was known as the Pillars Restaurant. The restaurant is now closed and We have turned it into our home. Large enough for weddings and gatherings. (Ask for details) 7 acres to checkout including a small stream. Plenty of paved parking.
Private and Quiet but close to New Lebanon Speedway and Skiing....Check out Jiminy Peak Ski and Mountain Adventure, or Bousquet Ski area. We are 13 minutes to Pittsfield Ma. About 35 minutes to Albany, 10 minutes to Furnace Brook Winery at Hilltop Orchards, 25 minutes to Tangelwood and Kripalu. There is also good fishing, hunting and hiking close to our home or just a chance to relax on this beautiful, historic property.
  • What a cool, unique home! Steve was very welcoming and a great host. Fyi, the 2nd bed (not photographed) is a mattress in a closet off the main room great place for kids to sleep! The place is also much bigger than the photos show

    Amy2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was an okay stay. Perfect size for what we needed... but... We arrived late at night with a note on the door with clear instructions. (We had kids with us...) The description is listed as a "whole house / apartment" which is not true. In fact, the owner lives right Beneath the space... The air conditioning stopped working after 20 minutes of arriving and we got VERY hot... it wasn't until our last night that the host decided to read my message and turn the AC back on.. Also, I specifically asked before we got there if the sauna worked... he said yes... but it absolutely does not work. Anyways, thinking we had the place to ourselves, we allowed the children to play. After the first night I received a rudely worded message demanding us to show him respect because this is "his house". (Of course we would have kept it down if we knew they lived there) so after that we had to be extremely quiet which was pretty annoying having more than one kid. They had a playroom for kids which was nice.. but after we got scolded we couldn't let them play. (Why would they have a playroom if the children can't play?) Overall it was an okay stay. It's a pretty roomy place. It was very far from Albany. Also Location isn't great as there are no stores or walmarts for 15-30 miles. Oh and heads up... if you decide to book here.. the bathroom was carpeted.

    Ryan2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a great spot for a little rest and relaxation! My husband is a writer and he thought it would be a perfect writer's retreat. The two twin beds in the storage area only seem weird if you aren't traveling with children - my son thought sleeping in the "fort" was great fun! The host was gracious and kind and made sure we had everything we needed. The setting is beautiful and being able to open the big windows and enjoy the view and the fresh air was perfect. We wish we could have stayed more than one night.

    Christine2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was phenomenal! The hosts were extremely welcoming and flexible with my arrival time, and the house was beautiful. Everything was as described, if not better. We had the whole upstairs, which would comfortably fit 5-6 people. The hosts even kindly provided us with a side room to let our skiing gear dry out. The town is quaint, the area beautiful. There were several great restaurants which the hosts recommended - Jimmy D's and the Blueberry Hill Market were highlights. We went skiing; it was only a 15 minute ride to Jiminy Peak. And there is a beautiful grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes worth a nighttime visit 5 minutes down the round. This was perfect for a long weekend getaway, and recommend it highly.

Our Quiet Cottage is in the forest minutes from a fresh water lake. Hiking trails are abundant in the area. For winter guests you are within 30 minutes of Butternut Ski resort. There are cross country ski trails throughout the Berkshires and four other Ski resorts to choose from a bit north of our house. There are great restaurants nearby and cultural activities year round. It's a great place to rest, read and recharge.
Our Cottage in Sherwood Forest is private and on 1/4 acre of land, a few minutes walking distance from the beautiful 88 acre lake and 20 minutes to the famous cultural attractions. We have two small bedrooms. One with a full size bed (Brand new with a pillow top)and the second bedroom has a single futon. The kitchen has a coffee maker, fridge, toaster, stove and oven. We supply some dishes, utensils and basics spices if you want to cook. The living room has a full size pullout futon. We have medium speed internet service. We have brochures and maps of the local attractions for exploring the area. The Appalachian trail is near so that can be a great hike. We have a General store that is within walking distance that has recently been spruced up and offers some gluten free homemade treats. They offer a great breakfast all day! Enjoy the quiet of the Berkshires. The cottage is great for a couple. We recommend it for a couple or a young family since it is small. There is a bus from New York CIty to Lee. But you still need a car to get to the house which is about 7 miles away. We ask our guests to bring sheets and towels since we don't have laundry facilities onsite. We do have a few blankets and comforters.
The Neighborhood is quiet and serene and we can recharge after being busy in the city. The lake is a short walk from the house. We do have neighbors nearby but we rarely see them.
  • The host canceled this reservation 284 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • Mary Ann's cottage was perfect for a quiet weekend getaway! It was clean and cozy when we arrived. The beach area was a short walk from the house and we enjoyed a couple nice mornings there. The heater kept us nice and warm and wifi/cell service (was not needed very much), but efficient when it was needed. Would definitely book again.

  • Cozy, small, and comfortable home. Very convenient for our needs in the area.

  • Perfect place for a littke get away. Quiet and relaxing location.

  • The cottage was cozy and clean. Proximity to local attractions makes Mary Ann's place ideal.

  • We went to the cabin over a very cold few days and were happy with how warm and comfortable the cabin was. Thanks for a nice weekend.

    Lindsay2016-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place was good and cozy, but the host was unreasonable. Despite charging $60 for cleaning fees, the host called me and texted me with agressive language after my 3 night stay with my girlfriend to complain about empty beverage bottles left on the counter, some dirty dishes and salsa spill on the blanket! She didn't believe that it was just the two of us, she accused me of renting it to my friends, and accused us also of peeing in the bed/ vomiting in the house, etc. None of which is true. The toilet also clogged at 3 am the night before our checkout, and she was mad at us for not texting here until the morning! If you're willing to pay $60 cleaning fee, clean the place behind you, bring your towels and bed sheets, and put up with an unreasonable host, this is your place.

Soak up the Berkshires in a renovated 3rd floor apartment (private entrance, 2 flights up) that is well-appointed, homey & with great views! Art, music, skiing, nature, shopping, food & drinks just minutes away! Located just off Hwy 7 (but very quiet!) for easy access to all of the Berkshires. 15 min=>Tanglewood. 35 min=>MassMoca. 30 min=>Lee Outlet Mall. 40 min=>Gr Barrington. 40 min=> Mt Greylock. Heart of the Berkshires! But ALSO the urban amenities of Pittsfield: shops, dining, drinks!
Former service quarters in a one-of-a-kind 1896 Arts & Crafts-inspired Colonial, now fully renovated into a tucked-away apartment. Enjoy warm living areas and spacious bedrooms with a kitchenette, full bath, two bedrooms, steam heat and A/C. The space also features a screened in porch off the second floor and a second 1/2 bath on the landing exclusive to the apartment.
The apartment is nestled in the Southeast neighborhood of Pittsfield by the Berkshire Athenaeum, Temple Anshe Amunium, the Berkshire Museum and the Colonial Theater. It is a very quiet neighborhood filled with beautiful historic homes, trees and a wide variety of birds.
  • This was a cool, funky old house in a walkable neighborhood of other cool, old homes. Close to the town center, easy to find, good communication, good checkin procedure, easy to get in and out. Has a great second story screened porch facing the back yard. Clean and modern appointments. Smallish, well-stocked kitchen -- we made dinner for four pretty easily.

    Gerry2018-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • A nice place right in the downtown, with all of the amenities you would need to stay for an extended period of time. The only caveat is that it is up several flights of steep stairs that could be difficult for someone with physical limitations.

    Thomas2018-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Apartment was amazingly clean and exactly as the photos depicted. Would recommend if you’re looking for a quiet getaway in the Berkshires. Branden and Andy were extremely efficient and helpful hosts.

    Anthony2018-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Branden and Andy are great hosts. The location is great, walking distance from many different restaurants, activities and shops. There was a very detailed listing of places to go and things to do in the apartment. The directions were easy and convenient, and the hosts are very gracious. The apartment is certainly big enough for more than one person, but I enjoyed having the space to myself.

    Rhei2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Branden was a very tentative host who responded to any questions or needs we had within minutes. The apartment was exceptionally clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious. We appreciate Branden and Andy for working to make the apartment as comfortable as possible and it was so nice to be able to have our dog spend the trip with us. There was a nice size yard for her to run in. Great hosts, thank you

    Paul2018-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great space in a historic house and location. Clean, warm and spacious.

    Matt2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Branden & Andy's third floor apartment was the perfect spot for a recharge. We were walking distance to the tip of the South Street Business District. If it had been a touch warmer we would have taken the city by foot. One thing to keep in mind is the apartment entrance is in the rear of the home and the first flight of stairs are a little steep. Being up on the third floor your view out the back during the winter months is really a beautiful scene.

Private room with a queen size bed just a few steps away from all the Berkshires has to offer. In Downtown Lee you will find a mixture of wonderful shops, dining and local attractions.
The 10 room home built in the 1870 has three available guest rooms. Each room has a flat screen television with built in DVD player and Roku player for your use.
The neighborhood is very diverse. Within a five minute walk you can find Chinese, Greek, Italian and American restaurants. There are local gift shops, antique stores and eclectic wares on Main Street. The local library has a wonderful children's section and the Visitors Center is in the nearby park.
  • The host made us feel welcome when we arrived. The room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. David was very flexible about check out time and did not mind when we left before 6 am to go to a yoga class. The house is in a great location, walking distance to downtown Lee.

    Diane2016-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great value. David called me around the time we planned to check in to make sure we weren’t lost. The house is very close to downtown Lee and walkable to local restaurants, and it’s close to Lee outlets as well for shopping. There was bottled water in the room and also croissant for breakfast. Room was clean, spacious and equipped with Roku! There were some books about Berkshire history which was interesting. Definitely recommend David’s place

  • Clean, comfortable, well-appointed. There’s a reason some people are ”super hosts” they go out of their way to consider little niceties (homemade coffee cake, granola, yogurt, pleasant surroundings, fresh LILACS!

  • Marie’s Place is the perfect space for our family. We drove up from PA and needed accommodations for one night. I was pleasantly surprised by the home-like atmosphere. This space is extremely clean and comfortable. My husband, daughters and I felt right at home lounging on the sofas (complete with cozy throw blankets :)) Marie is the perfect hostess, staying in constant communication, and meeting us even though we arrived 1.5 hours behind schedule. Her home will be a top choice when we return to the Berkshires. You won’t be disappointed.

Our place is on a gentle flowing river, close to waterfalls, walks and the Berkshire cultural sites like Tanglewood and Jacobs Pillow . You’ll love our place because of the river, the deck, the hot tub; complete tranquility and a home away from home. Close to some great sites and activities, far enough away to escape. Our place is good for couples, friends and solo adventurers. Snowboarders/Skiers (or snow bunnies) and families can have great fun too! Sit back, relax and enjoy our home!
  • Great house right on the lake! Weekend getaway from NYC was a success!! Would recommend to stay again :)

  • My family arrived in the Berkshires for our wedding and had a lovely stay at Patrick's home in Chester. The accommodations were extremely comfortable, the home was very well appointed, the hot tub with river view was lovely, and there was a delightful "welcome" bottle of wine in the fridge! I would definitely have my family stay here again and would recommend this lovely home to anyone coming to the Berkshires.

  • This is a great place to stay, excellent accommodations, nice town, and lots to do in the area. Great Bass fishing in local lakes and ponds!

    Jason2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beautiful, clean, and was perfect for my husband and I on our little getaway. The river was amazing and we hiked to nearby Sandisfield Brook Falls. It seemed like we were far, far off the beaten path, but there was so much to do and explore nearby. We spent a day in Northampton exploring and we went to the Big E.

    Amy2018-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house is really great and very comfortable. We had a great time there.

  • An amazing home in a lovely New England town. We had a great time and enjoyed watching birds from the deck over the river.

  • Patrick's house is a treasure. We so loved sitting in the hot tub overlooking the river every night. The house itself is larger than it seems in the photos and the kitchen has everything you need. The beds are very comfortable. Patrick was helpful with recommendations. Would definitely stay here again!

    Kelly2017-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick’s place was exactly the getaway we needed! We enjoyed the thoughtful bottle of white wine they left in the fridge for us, the comfortable beds (seriously, some of the most comfortable Airbnb beds I’ve slept on!), and especially, the hot tub! The view from the hot tub at night, in the morning, during snow was totally breathtaking. We enjoyed walking to dinner down the street. We also took the drive to North Adams to visit Mass MOCA, and stopped in Northampton to walk around. Overall, I’d highly recommend Patrick’s place!

We have a joyful, colorful private room waiting for you upstairs in the eclectic work-in-progress we call home. This sunny room features a comfortable full-size bed with plenty of pillows, beautiful linens and a scrumptious down duvet. There are also extra-large bath towels, plenty of closet and drawer space and room darkening shades if you like to sleep-in. In the warmer months we put an A/C in the window for your comfort. The recently renovated full-bathroom is shared and adjacent to your room. There is an additional half-bath on the first floor. If your situation calls for it, we have a portable crib available. We look forward to sharing our home with you! -Jeanette & Erica
Our house is easy to find and located on a quiet, dead-end street within walking distance to downtown Pittsfield. There you will find Berkshire Museum, The Colonial Theater, Barrington Stage Company, and The Beacon Cinema as well many restaurants and eateries. Because of our central location, we are just a short drive to just about anywhere you’d want to go in the Berkshires—Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, MASS MoCA, Kripalu Yoga Center, Berkshire Theatre Festival, and Jiminy Peak, as well as many bucolic hiking spots from easy to challenging.
  • We had a lovely stay! Both Erica and Jeannette were warm and welcoming -- happy to engage but also gave us space. Carl and Bella were a treat too!

  • Jeanette, Erica, Carl, and Bella were the highlight of my weekend; I enjoyed my time with them tremendously and look forward to the time when we can all be together again! The house was lovely; filled with many interesting things and colors. Jeanette is a Feng Shui expert and this could be felt and observed throughout the home. My room was comfortable (and well appointed) and sharing the large clean bathroom was not an issue at all. My hosts were generous and every way, which made my stay with them a pleasure! Their CUTE baby Carl and affable dog Bella were icing on the cake.

  • Jeanette, Erica and family couldn't have been more gracious in making us feel like we were part of their lovely family! The airconditioner in the bedroom was very comfortable with the heat in the Northeast. We were surprised how close Pittsfield is to Stockbridge, Lenox and Tanglewood. Dining, shopping and entertainment are all nearby. We would give them 5+ (we would recommend them very highly). Joan & Bob

  • Jeannette and Erica are wonderful hosts who offer a lovely, quiet, restful home. They are incredibly kind and gracious. Pittsfield is my home town and we were visiting overnight. It was a relief to have such a wonderful alternative to the hotels and motels in the area. Erica also prepared a wonderful breakfast for us. Thank you!

The Edmister House. . . Experience the past in a gracious turn of the century Berkshire "cottage", custom built for New York society second homeowners escaping the summer city. "Mr and Mrs Willard Edmister will entertain many Brooklyn guests during the season. Their new villa has a splendid location with an outlook over the Housatonic Valley. . . They closed up their summer home and returned to the city. They'll reopen it for the holidays" Brooklyn Life, 1914/20
Experience a bit of the gilded age in our unique turn of the century Berkshire cottage with large spacious rooms, 3 working fireplaces downstairs, large private yard for reading and enjoying Berkshire time. We recently purchased this 10,000 sq foot house as a multi-generational family home and are cautiously renovating it while maintaining it's original integrity. We are 3 generations of adults, enjoy music and people. The Emma Room has a king size bed. The Arden Room has a king bed. The West Wing is a king bedroom and living room with direct access to the first floor deck. Note: If some of your dates are booked you can switch rooms for longer stays. Looking forward to meeting you! Ken, Laurie, Tom & Robin
located in quiet residential historic district of like homes.
  • A wonderful, old, grand house in a quiet beautiful location. If you're looking for a peaceful stay in a location that is central to all the Berkshires has to offer, this is your place

    Brian2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Ken and Laurie are great hosts. They made us feel very welcome. We even got a guide with great ideas for restaurants and fun activities in the neighborhood. The room and the whole house is fantastic. It seems to good to be true, but everything is exactly as (or even more) beautiful as it looks on the pictures. We can recommend staying with Ken and Laurie 100%.

  • Beautiful home to stay in!

  • Ken was a fantastic host! Very responsive and accommodating. This is the place to stay if you are really looking to experience the Berkshires this summer. It's a beautiful historic home, with staircases that are 6 feet wide. Several livingrooms, dining rooms decorated with usable antique furniture, and still plenty of private space, within a quiet setting, for an affordable price. What a hidden gem, makes you feel like you are stepping back in time with all of the modern creature comforts we like to have on vacation. I'll be back to stay with Ken for my visits to Tanglewood.

    Glynnis2016-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Ken, Laurie, Tom and Robin are all wonderful hosts. The description is spot-on, the room was impeccably clean, bed was comfortable and the home is beautiful. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

    Kate2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • My overnight stay in this spectacular house was perfect. Laurie, Ken, and Tom are exceptional hosts. I love the Emma room. The mattress was super comfortable. The whole house was clean and inviting, and it was a joy to spend time there. Coffee is always available, there is a refrigerator for guests, with light food and drink. Breakfast was delicious-fresh fruit, eggs, yogurt. Great location. Close to the Clark Museum and theatre in Williamstown, MassMoca in North Adams; even closer to Lenox and Kripalu. The Barrington Stage Company is in Pittsfield, and I’m planning to see a show there when I return. I’m looking forward to returning to this beautiful house again.

  • Absolutely stunning home! It was our first visit to the berkshires and we were so lucky to have Ken as our host. He allowed us to check in fairly late as we traveled from NYC after working all day. Ken also provided the best local recommendations for first time visitors: hiking trails, museums, restaurants, towns. We had a great time and can't wait to return again in the summer! The home is absolutely beautiful, warm and inviting. The breakfast spread was beyond our expectations for an airBnB stay. Thanks for having us, Ken!! We'll see you next time :)

    Diana2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful house to stay! I was visiting Pittsfield shortly for my exhibition and wanna try something local experience, instead pf staying in the common hotel room. And this Edmister house was perfect choice for that. Host Ken and his family members were super welcoming and the delicious breakfast provided was made with LOVE. I'd like to strongly recommend to anyone who wanna visit Pittsfield.

Romantic getaway or family adventure. Charming stone building served as a one-room schoolhouse from 1832 until 1950. Beautifully situated amidst horse farms on the scenic road to Mt Greylock, centrally located with easy access to cultural and outdoor activities. No extra charge for children (to avoid being charged, do not included children in the count of guests).
Historic stone building that you will have all to yourselves! Furnished with antiques and tastefully decorated. Owner's fine art photographs adorn the walls. Very large loft space upstairs, with queen bed, single bed, kitchen and living and dining areas. Downstairs is the original one room schoolhouse classroom with blackboards and some antique school desks and two twin beds, and the bathroom.
Quiet, except for sounds of nature - birds, occasionally cows, horses or coyotes. We are near the road, but there isn't much traffic. The farm next door now has a few alpacas and miniture horses in additonal to the usual horses. We're a mile down the road from the Mt. Greylock visitors center.
  • Rich and Cheryl were great hosts. They responded quickly and welcomed us at the cottage. The cottage was nicely decorated in a unique way, and also was equipped with all the necessary items, especially family, from toys to first aid kit. Highly recommended.

  • Quick respond, adorable place, clean, and cute town. Rich was super responsive and hospitality was amazing. Think this might be my family's regular spot.

    Kelly2018-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • We were here less than 24 hours, but will definitely be back. An excellent place for families - clean, plenty of open space and kid-friendly toys, etc. available. And the historical aspect of it being a former one room school house is so neat - it seems most (if not all) of it has been well preserved. Bonus points for not having to bring our travel crib! It’s a great, quiet location between Pittsfield and Mount Greylock, so daytrips are convenient. Rich is friendly and offered helpful tips. Great value for a family looking to enjoy the Berkshires!

    Michelle2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • For our eleventh marriage anniversary, I wanted to surprise my wife with a setting other than a nice hotel. I struck gold with this place. Rich and Cheryl have created a unique experience by lovingly restoring an old one-room stone schoolhouse, and I cannot think of a more charming, nostalgia-evoking three-night visit. While the amenities were more than adequate, I cannot overstate the greatest attribute of the place: its spirit. There is a special magic in the old classroom, with its high ceilings, vintage lighting, blackboards and an American Flag in the corner. One can almost hear the chattering of students, the hushing authority of the teacher as she enters the room, and then, the opening of textbooks and rustling of papers. The walls resonate with the pledge of allegiance, the cadence of multiplication tables, and the chalk as it clacks sentence diagrams on the blackboards. While my wife and I spent much of our time having all manner of adventures in the area, such as hiking up Mt.Greylock -- a must-do excursion -- I had some special moments in the classroom with my guitar. I felt as if I had an old audience, as original students who came for a reunion had written their names on the one of the blackboards, and recorded their recollections in a memory book. One might call these musings pure sentimentality, but when one sees these old names, it is clear that this world really did exist, and it wasn't that long ago. My wife and I went to the Norman Rockwell museum in nearby Stockbridge, and there we saw all manner of paintings of this way of life that seems further and further from today's world; fortunately, when we came back at the end of the day, we found ourselves staying inside a Norman Rockwell painting called the Stone School Cottage. While Rockwell's era may be over, the spirit lives on here. I thank you, Rich and Cheryl, for keeping the spirit alive. The neighborhood is quiet, lovely and as rural as one would want -- horse stables are right across the street -- and yet the town of Lanesborough is minutes away, where one can find all manner of restaurants, and -- my favorite -- a huge lake where one can swim. The light effects there in the late afternoon are heavenly I won't go into detail on all the splendid small towns nearby, but will say that this spot is a perfect "home base" if you want to experience the best of the Berkshires, including the Clark Museum, Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, and our now favorite restaurant, the Mill on the Floss. Book with Cheryl and Rich. You will be glad you did.

    John2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a fun stay! Rich was great at communicating and welcoming us. I could see this space being perfect for a family with younger/middle-school-aged kids visiting the area for hiking. The first floor is charming and quaint and the second floor is comfortable with enough kitchen amenities to make simple food and board games and DVDs for evening entertainment. The kitchen itself is very small, perfectly fine for making a simple breakfast.

    Jeff2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay in beautiful cottage - absolutely loved it, thanks so much Cheryl!

    Kathryne2014-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved it. The cottage was lovely & completely relaxing. It was 3 of us, My wife her father & myself. Enough room (easily) for all to have some space. Great location 20-30 minutes from Mass Moca, around the corner from Mt. Greylock (wear appropriate shoes, none of us did...), very close to a lot of great sites & beautiful country. An A+!

This is a quiet room with a large private bathroom and a comfortable full size bed, also with a private back entrance only for the use of guests. Five minutes drive to MassMoCA, walking distance from a nice section of the Appalachian trail. In-between North Adams and Williamstown, the location is ideal if you are planning to visit both MassMoCA and the Clark. The street is in a wooded natural area, on a hillside. Parking in front of the house, in the driveway.
This is a quiet and comfortable place to spend the night. A private bathroom with bathtub and shower opens directly from the guest room, and the room has a private entrance as well. We do not provide breakfast but there is a variety of ways to prepare tea and coffee. Guests are welcome to be anywhere in the downstairs section of the house, including the dining room, or the picnic table outside when the weather is nice.
In-between Williamstown and North Adams, in a natural area. The house is in a quiet little street, right by a stream. From the front porch you get a view on the mountains.
  • Second stay with Dori and it was as warm, friendly and convenient as the first. Will definitely stay again!!

  • She was very kind and helpful. She made sure that we got eveything we needed.

  • We were met by the grandmother of the home who was very sweet and gave us a tour of the common spaces and our room. the room was very neat and warm-- with some great information about the area. The croissants the next morning were terrific! We would definitely love to stay again when we return to the area in the spring.

    Deanna2015-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful room and house. Comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Hosts' grandma made me coffee and a cheese sandwich in the morning. Five minutes to mass moca.

    Trevor2015-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Both Dorri and her mother made me feel very welcome. The room was clean and well tended to. The fan also provided great white noise. I was offered coffee but I am tea drinker so I had already made my cup of tea.

    Sarah2015-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Dori (and her son) were very gracious and informative, their house was very nice and the visit was a great alternative to the nearby hotel that I was booked at the last time I was in town for business. I will certainly try to see if the space is available next time as well.

    Mark2016-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable and felt very welcomed! Beautiful town, nice private room--great experience overall!

    Kelsey2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had hiked for 9 hours on Mt Greylock and realized we needed to find a place to rest for the night before driving home. Dori was responsive at a late hour and came to our rescue. She was kind and accommodating, moved her car so we could park and even shared her toothpaste with us! The room was cozy, wifi equipped, and we enjoyed comfortable temp with open windows and a fan. A great deal and a lovely experience, I'd recommend Dori as a host to any traveler.

'Loft off North' is just around the corner from the heart of the Berkshires, North Street in Pittsfield. This is a newly renovated space, completely re-done from top to bottom. It has been aesthetically curated with the comfort of the traveler to the Berkshires in mind. Pittsfield has recently been recognized by the National Center for Arts Research as an art vibrant community, ranking 2nd in the medium sized cities category, out of a ranking of 40.
This is a circa 1850's farmhouse, originally thought to be part of the Linden Ranch. The back portion of the house is estimated to have been added on around the first decade or so of the 1900's. As a result, the structure has an eclectic mix of hardwood flooring that add to the charm of the apartment. In keeping with the farmhouse design, a large deck has been added alongside the front of the building, along with a tin roof covering. An industrial vibe is also incorporated with a pipe and metal cord rail system. The interior has all the comforts of a modern space with central heating and an updated kitchen and bathrooms.
Park your car at 'Loft Off North' and walk and explore Pittsfield. Make some new friends while you enjoy the Berkshires. You may want to start off your day with a stop at Dotties Coffee Lounge (http://www.dottiescoffeelounge.com/) Dottie's provides expertly crafted coffee, friendly baristas, fabulous organic and local food, homemade baked goods, a bohemian eclectic space with plenty of room, free and fast wifi, and a true flavor that all locals love and flock to daily. Barrington Stage Company (https://barringtonstageco.org) is a just a hop, skip and short jump from 'Just Off North', the perfect stop to enjoy award winning theater. Be sure to check out their website to book your tickets! Visit the intimate St. Germain Theater, Mr. Finn’s Cabaret or Boyd-Quinson Mainstage. Mary's Carrot Cake (maryscarrotcake.com) is a must! Maybe a treat before the theatre! Restaurants and shops abound around the corner as you walk down North Street. Mission Bar & Tapas (http://www.missionbarandtapas.com) is a favorite! Enjoy the local musicians as they entertain you. A real gem in Pittsfield! Methuselah Bar & Lounge (http://methbar.com) creates hand crafted cocktails and also offers small plates. Make sure you stop in at Circa Berkshires (http://circaberkshires.com). This is a MidCentury Modern paradise for those who like to go back in time to the Frank Lloyd Wright simplistic lines. Treasures abound in this one-of-a-kind store. The Funky Phoenix is the Berkshires leading producer of Salvage Art and Home Décor.(https://thefunkyphoenix.com) This is where you want to see salvaged art, Steam Punk thought provoking re-purposed goods and engage with the artists. A summer only treat, King Cone soft serve ice cream! (133 Fenn St, Pittsfield, MA 01201) Trust me when I say you will need to walk there and back after you see the size of that CONE!

The furnished cottage has high vaulted ceilings and skylights which make the space bright and cheery. Perfect for a cozy, romantic getaway with a working fireplace, fully equipped kitchen and large bath with tub. Sliding glass doors open onto deck, overlooking yard and brook. There is a firepit for outdoor use.
  • A cozy, light-filled cottage in a lovely, wooded neighborhood on the edge of town... the place has a good feel: airy, vaulted ceiling pierced with wood beams; skylights; the fireplace, rather than a wall, separates the living area from the bedroom. It's a small but functional kitchenette, perfect size for the cottage. Susan brought us some breakfast fixin's and wood for the fireplace when we arrived — and was responsive when we had a question a couple days later — and otherwise gave us our privacy. It was a relaxing, charming stay.

    Scott2016-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We immediately felt welcome to the cosy cottage by our hosts, they were accommodating, very pleasant, but not intrusive. wifi password, contact information as well as many brochures with information about the area were left in plain sight. The well equipped kitchen was stocked with coffee, juices and snacks, even a nice bottle of wine. there is a deck and grill outside with a babbling brook, such peaceful sounds made for a relaxing stay and sleep. The cottage is well appointed with a comfortable bed, lovely living area. The bath has a large tub/shower; all of this cozy cottage is tastefully decorated and welcoming. Easy parking, easy distance to everything. Do yourself a favor and book this cozy cottage your next trip to the area, you will love all that it has to offer.

    Nelle2016-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the cottage is perfect. It's right down the road from downtown Stockbridge and so conveniently close to Great Barrington and Lee. I feel like it's a central location in the Berkshires. The cabin feels a little bigger than what the pictures show. The place was so clean and comfy with all the amenities needed. The skylights and the wood beams give a nice feel that I don't think you can get the appreciation of by just looking at the pictures posted here either. The fireplace and the bathtub were such nice places to relax. If you're looking for more of a cabin in the woods feel this might not be your place because there are neighbors and it's right next to the road. Being inside you forget about that though. Susan gave me privacy throughout the weekend which I really appreciated. My trip was also so last minute and Susan was so amazingly accommodating with that. I will definitely stay again.

    Nina2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • They greeted me with a note and a text message. They were very responsive when I had a question.

    Brooke2015-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute cottage! I stayed here during a workshop at Kripalu and it worked out beautifully. Nicely appointed, clean, light breakfast fixings and very comfortable! I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

    Sarah2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in this cottage was great. It is renovated so there's lots of heat and hot water. The fireplace is great. Close to town.

    Leon2016-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's cottage was the perfect fit for our weekend getaway as we attended a local Kripalu program. It was cozy, clean, and well stocked with all basic needs plus some extra amenities that really enabled an easy relaxing stay. It is located near many major points of interest while also feeling secluded and quiet. We'd recommend it to anyone!

    Emily2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • One of my favorite airbnb stays ever! Beyond being clean and tastefully appointed (quality mattress, linens, bathroom, extremely serviceable kitchen) the fireplace is such an added bonus! The skylights provide a lovely diffuse glow throughout the day and star gazing at night. The location is ideal, close to town and the many area venues, yet on a quite street. I look forward to a return visit and highly recommend this rental.

  • Elle's home was amazing! We were traveling with small children and found it to be very kid friendly. It was very comfortable (especially the beds) and remarkably clean. We just left today and we are already planning another trip!

    Sarah2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Unbelievably perfect! The home is so warm and full of natural brightness but with every little detail you’d need/want to feel cozy and at-home. Really, the hosts have thought of everything! As if that wasn’t already more than we could have hoped for, they were also SO communicative and even went the extra mile to come and help with WiFi issues on a Friday night! This is a dream property and we can’t wait to return!

    Monica2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay in the Berkshires! It was clean, light, airy and close to downtown Lenox. The check-in and out were easy too. We would definitely stay here again.

  • This house was perfect! We stayed here with four adults and an infant and it was everything we needed. It was clean and had everything you needed. The house was adorable and had a gorgeous outdoor area that we enjoyed as well. The location is so great - nice little walk into town. The owner was awesome too - super responsive with recommendations on local activities. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for a wedding we had nearby. Thank you!!!

Delightful for 2 people, roomy enough for 6. Charming vintage apartment in half an old boarding house from 1900. It's a Greek Revival house on a country lane at the foot of the Berkshires. There's bedrooms downstairs and up, living room, full kitchen and bath, as well as lawn and backyard. It offers great space for couples, families, or friends. A wonderful base for exploring the Berkshires and Hudson Valley; smart access for Tanglewood in the summer, or skiing in the winter.
We're experienced airbnb hosts, with more than 200 great reviews. We've learned that sometimes our guests want a place large enough for several people, one that has excellent amenities, privacy, and a good kitchen for cooking. You're looking for historic character, a chance to connect with nature, and convenient reach to the local sights. Also a good value; our base rate applies to the first 2 people, with up to four more priced at $15 each. We don't require a cleaning fee or a security deposit. These are the benefits of the duplex at the old boarding house; there is not much modern about it but you'll find countryside, comfort, great access, all the amenities you need, and great deal of charm too.
Our neighborhood used to be the center of town back when the old water mills down the street were in operation; now the modern town center with bank, post office and restaurants, is about 2 miles away. There are a handful of historic houses on our road. We live right across the way and can greet you, hand over your keys, and show you around when you arrive. You'll have front and back lockable doors and space for parking in your private driveway. We can also provide good local recommendations and are available in the event of any problem. The duplex at the old boarding house is a great retreat both in summer and winter, whether you are looking for a cozy break or search for culture and action. It's perfectly positioned for taking advantage of the Berkshires, including so much fine music, theater, food, art and natural beauty that you can't possibly do it all justice no matter how hard you try. Tanglewood is about 20 minutes away, and so is the Kripalu Yoga Center. There is a swift, lovely route to get to both of those from here, through pasture and forest, and ending with a wonderful view of the Stockbridge Bowl. In the winter, ski trails at Jiminy Peak or Bousquet are less than a half hour away, and Butternut is just a little farther. Hiking trails and conservancies are everywhere. In the springtime, it's great to see all the leafy woods and so many gardens emerge. It's locavore and farmer's market heaven in the summertime and fall. A treat hidden nearby is Queechy Lake, with lifeguard and sandy shore, one of the cleanest and most delicious lakes in New York state. There's also a nice local park in town, with two nice tennis courts. Check out our online guidebook for a full listing of the places we love most around here for visit or a meal. There are seven fine art museums, eight theater companies, three Shaker villages and two orchestral venues within an hour's radius. We're a good jumping-off point for visiting the Berkshire towns-- it takes about 20 minutes to get to Lenox, Pittsfield and West Stockbridge in Massachusetts, for example. You're also only about twenty minutes from several other historic towns and villages of New York, such as Old Chatham, Canaan, and Spencertown.
  • We really enjoyed our second visit to the boarding house. Joe and Tegan were friendly and responsive when we had to change our arrival plans. The apartment is cozy, clean, and comfortable. They've also added a number of amenities and personal touches since our first visit when the boarding house was newly listed. Looking forward to coming back!

    Claire2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place. Plenty of space, close to our ski resort and well appointed. Washer/dryer was quite useful. Tegan was very helpful on arrival.

    Jeremy2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Tegan is an amazing host! Great response time and beautiful personal touches to even further beautify the space. Just a complete delight. Very clean and quiet apartment. Cozy and lovely. Amazing place to unplug and feel surrounded by beauty.

    Doreen2018-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This space is really beautiful and spacious. The interior decor is simple, relaxing and effortless and I would definitely recommend it to future guests. What stands out is how much attention to detail there is - a very comprehensive guest book with tons of information about things to do in the area including hikes; quick-fix meal fixings snack in the kitchen in case you arrive starving with no time to make it to the store; fully stocked kitchen for cooking your own meals; an AC unit in every room for sticky summer days and of course, a private porch for sundown lounging. Don't hesitate to book this space, it is well worth the value.

    Podge2018-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect, Tegan welcomed us very warmly and explained everything to us and we felt straight away home. We stayed just two nights their, had a lovely chat with the neighbor and enjoyed every minute in the house, highly recommended

    Ludger2018-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Joe and Fiona’s boarding house was pure perfection! It was conveniently located (20-30 mins drive) near Tanglewood, Monument Mountain, and tons of good restaurants! The house itself was cozy, charming, clean, and beautifully decorated. The things we appreciated most during our stay were the thoughtful touches—ample towels, great selection of body washes, access to bug repellent sprays + umbrellas, and the bowl of fresh apples on the kitchen table. Tegan, the house manager, was great and quick with responses! We would recommend the boarding house in a heartbeat and can’t wait to return!

    Linda2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at the old boarding house. Tegan was a fantastic host responding promptly and kindly to all our questions. The place is lovely with so many thoughtful and detailed touches. Really comfortable beds, very clean and cozy. I highly recommend a stay if you are visiting New Lebanon, Berkshires, Pittsfield or any other close by destinations.

  • David and Donna are wonderful hosts and wonderful people. They truly enjoy making their home comfortable and clean for guests. They have a great, stately home. A lot of nice touches and all the amenities, and then some. They have a sweet pekinese dog. I would return next time I am in this area.

    Stacy2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in David's home. It was in a perfect location for catching a concert at Tanglewood from out of town. The room was impeccably clean and cosy and the whole experience truly like a quintessential Bed and Breakfast with all needed amenities (shampoo, towels etc.) as well as some welcome extras like coffee, fruit, and donuts in the morning. I would absolutely stay with David again!!

    Margot2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem! We arrived later than expected en route to Tanglewood Festival but were greeted warmly, served homemade lemon biscuits and sugared walnuts and given directions along the charming forest byways. The home is just that. A home for travellers; with beautifully decorated bedrooms, a plethora of local information and a porch for breakfast. Continental breakfast ( yummy cereal, fruit, yoghurt , biscuit bars are provided along with a coffee machine and range of teas. The bed was super comfy and there was no traffic noise in our room despite being on the main road.

  • We had a great stay in Lee! The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed, and at such a reasonable price! A lovely New England Home, Private floor, with two bedrooms, cozy den with fireplace and private bathroom! Near Butternut Skiing, Jiminy Peak, Lee Preium Outlets, Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge, Lenox! Share the lovely kitchen and Frank Lloyd Wright style Great Room, with the friendly host and kitties upstairs!!
Nestled in the glorious Massachusetts Berkshires, with ancient stone fences, in the midst of the lovely woods. Brick fireplace, lovely views, cathedral ceilings in the Great Room!
I love the quiet dignity and majesty of the Woods and Mountains of the Berkshires. We are near the skiing resorts at Butternut and Jiminy Peak in Winter, the Appalachian Trail, and in summer, Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Shakespeare, Barrington Stage, and Mt. Grelock. We have the cute towns of Stockbridge, Lee, and Lenox for great restaurants, browsing in our many unique stores, and museums!
  • This house is like living in the woods. Very quiet, yet easily accessible. It was very comfortable. I would go back. The kittens were cute and playful but we had to be careful not to let them out.

    Gabor2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for hosting us and we had a great time spending with you.

    Akshay2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy could not have been a more gracious host. She made every effort to make sure that we arrived safely. The cabin itself is super charming and tucked away in the woods. Still, it was very convenient getting to and from other more popular Berkshire towns.

    Sun2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly stylish space, a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired gem of a mid-century modern cabin. Wendy's parents had built the cabin in the 70s and the place still retains the original appliances and furnishings of the era. You feel like you're in a Wes Anderson movie. Wendy was incredibly welcoming and warm herself, it was great fun learning about the history of the cabin and the book she's writing. We had the whole of the lower level to ourselves - 2 big bedrooms, 1 big den with fireplace, 1 bathroom. Everything worked perfectly and was spotlessly clean. Kiki and Jasmine were super cute and friendly. Nearby is Lee (15 mins drive) for food, Otis for alpine skiing (8 mins) and Canterbury farms for XC skiing (10 mins). Beautiful woods, secluded from any noise and tons of trails for trekking in. Highly recommend!

    Ruth2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Wendy's beautiful home in the Becket woods after 3 days of camping in the rain. It was the perfect cozy retreat and a great home base for exploring the surrounding towns in the Berkshires -- Lenox is a 25-minute drive away. The den is warm and comfortable, and we got to use up our leftover firewood in her fireplace both nights of our stay. Wendy herself is a wonderful host. She even baked a *scrumptious* pumpkin cake for my birthday! And she didn't mind us using her yard to dry out our soggy, muddy tent. Another bonus: she has 2 adorable, playful kittens -- I'm normally allergic but had no problems at all. Overall an A+ experience. Thank you, Wendy!

    Lindsay2016-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Logement original et spacieux avec un salon privé pour les clients. Wendy a été très accueillante et a tout fait pour nous mettre à l'aise dans sa maison. Intéressantes discussions avec elle.

    Pierre-Henri2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Wendy's. The space was just what we were looking for. Having use of the fireplace was a huge plus. Wendy was friendly and readily accomodated our travel changes. Great hiking near by! There was a TV, but not hooked up to any cable or network, so if you like to watch something at the end of the day, bring some DVD's. (we left one behind for you!) We also brought our own firewood, so you may want to ask about that.

    Pati2016-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy was a great host--very friendly! Her home is super cool, nestled in the woods but close to a main road. I would stay there again!

Right in Adams is Mt. Greylock which affords 4 season recreation opportunities including hiking, mountain biking and skiing. Adams hosts the famous Thunderbolt ski race every Feb. Adams is also on the beautiful Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, a paved trail for walking and biking over ten miles long through the town, a bird filled wetland called "The Jungle" and then alongside sparkling Hoosuc Lake. Adams also has a beautiful library, the historic Quaker Meeting House and The Birthplace of Susan B. Anthony Museum. There is a nine hole golf course right in town too: one of many great golf courses in the area.

  • Sandy was very helpful. He met us on arrival and offered us suggestions on what to see in the area for our too short stay. He was excellent in his response to our emails. A lovely character home complete with modern conveniences and old world charm. I would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation.

  • Our stay was quiet and reasonably comfortable. We were in and out quickly for a show at Mass MoCA. The duplex is an easy drive to satellite parking.

  • Great hosts, very friendly and the space was perfect! Amazing view!!

  • Sandy was a welcoming host and accommodating host. The apartment was neat and clean, with beautiful views of Mt Greylock. My boys, ages 7 and 4, loved the cozy bedroom they shared with the book shelves lining the walls and the bed perfect for sharing. The deck is lovely and the kitchen was well stocked. A great find in Adams -- so close to all that the Northern Berkshires have to offer! We'll be back!

  • My family had a wonderful stay at the house. The flowers and gardens were beautiful and we loved the mountain view. It was a great place to stay to enjoy the area and the hosts were very friendly. The farm stand they recommended had a pumpkin fest this weekend, which was a perfect thing to do before driving back home.

  • Our host welcomed my sisters and I when we arrived and we immediately felt at home. He showed us around the duplex and made sure that we had all the information we needed to make our stay a relaxed and pleasant experience in every way. The accommodations were just as described and more. The place was clean and furnishings were comfortable. Just as important were the charming front porch and spacious back deck with spectacular views. Our host had thought of everything we could possibly need. We hope to return to this wonderful duplex next time we are in the area.

This beautiful Victorian farmhouse is situated on a half acre with great views of Mount Greylock, surrounding mountains and the quaint town of Adams. The wraparound porch is perfect for relaxing. It is fully furnished and has a fully equipped kitchen. There is a wood stove in living room for those chilly nights and wood is provided. Walking distance to Adams/supermarket. Short drive North Adams (MASSMoCA), Williamstown (Clark Museum) and Jiminy Peak (ski resort) which is 30 minutes drive.
House is in perfect condition with all original wood floors. There is a lovely porch which overlooks the large garden with a view of Mount Greylock. There are chairs in the garden area. The kitchen also overlooks the garden. The separate dining room opens to side porch. Living room has wood stove and wood is provided. There is a ground floor bathroom and upstairs bathroom. The house has been furnished but not overly so, so it is light and airy. There is a master bedroom with queen size bed and two smaller bedrooms with full size beds. There is storage in each of the bedrooms. Sheets and towels are provided, along with necessary toiletries. We don't like to leave food lying around but there sometimes are basic supplies in the fridge and/or pantry.
House is in the town of Adams, a lovely quaint town. Set up on a hill, the house is in a quiet neighborhood. It is a 10 minute walk to the supermarket, so car is not required. Amazing views of surrounding mountains. Great restaurants nearby in North Adams, Williamstown, Pittsfield. About a 10 mins. drive to Chesire where you can buy amazing fresh produce at Whitney's. . Everything within driving distance. North Adams, MassMoCA, Clarke Museum in Williamstown. Great bike trails nearby.
  • We loved Kate's house! The furnishings are beautiful, it was spotless, and we immediately felt right at home. The covered porch is a real treat. The views from the property are stunning, and the location is perfect - a short ride to MASS MoCA, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. We'll definitely be back!

  • Just a Wonderful home ... very comfortable and homey, close to everything and the PORCH overlooking Greylock is TO DIE FOR!! Katie could not have been more accommodating and we had a wonderful weekend!! We will surely be back!!! Jan, Jim and Dan

  • Katherine's place sits on a hill looking over Adams. The mountains are gorgeous, with the clouds floating over them. Katherine was a great communicator. She was always available if I needed her. It was so easy to get to Mass Moca. The house is charming and the neighborhood is lovely.

  • My family of four spent four wonderful weeks in this beautifully decorated 19th century home atop a hill. The mountain views are breathtaking, especially when the morning mist dissipates to reveal the majesty of Mt. Greylock. We spent hours rocking on the porch, gazing at the mountains and listening to the church bells peal throughout the valley. The neighbors are very friendly (my 7- and 5-year-old daughters made fast friends with the boy across the street), and the location is quite convenient. You can walk downtown to eat at the Red Carpet or grab at pint at the Adams Ale House (if you don't mind climbing the hill on the way home). Attractions such as Mass MoCA and hiking trails are minutes away by car. Kate was a wonderful host who responded immediately to questions we had. The house was well stocked with essentials, including a washer/dryer and excellent cookware. There are two lovely bathrooms: One features a claw foot tub; the other has a double shower head. And while this may not be considered an essential, Kate's artistic sensibility added to the experience. We so enjoyed the eclectic mix of art throughout the house. All in all, we were very comfortable and happy in the 1890 house. Our hearts were heavy leaving as we got very attached to the place. We could not recommend this home more highly and hope we have a chance to return one day.

    Eileen2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely private garden. Wonderful breezes and view. loved our stay; loved the aesthetic which has character, is comfortable but not prissy.

    Claire2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • The 1890's house is a wonderful place to stay, especially if you are interested in the many local attractions such as MassMoca, the Clarke and the winter outside activities. Unfortunately the town of Adams doesn't have lots going on, but it is possible to find a decent place to eat and since the house itself is so well equipped, it is easy to prepare a meal and enjoy it "at home". This house is very clean, well equipped, and close to decent grocery stores. The host is extremely pleasant, non-intrusive and willing to give advice and assistance when you need it. We would recommend this place to families and couples.

    Judith2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Nice house in a pleasant part of the Birkshires - plenty of great hiking nearby and a few interesting attractions in Adams and nearby North Adams. House is in a suburban part of Adams. The house has three nice bedrooms and a large bathroom upstairs, v. functional kitchen and living areas downstairs. Balcony is great. The house may get a bit toasty in summer (we couldn't find the A/C if there is any).

    Tom2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's house is a beautiful, cozy, well cared-for and charming little gem. The views from the hilltop are spectacular, Mt. Greylock, in particular, dominates the skyline from the dining room and wraparound porch. The place was spotless and really well appointed. The woodstove was especially welcome on the cold couple of nights we were there. North Adams and Williamstown are very close by, offering plenty to do and see, along with good restaurants and shopping. And, of course, hiking on Mt. Greylock is a must! We could not have asked for a better experience, and plan to return again to enjoy another season.

Sunny beautifully decorated suite within walking distance of the center of Lenox and easy driving distance to Kripalu, Tanglewood, Eastover, Cranwell, and Canyon Ranch. The suite includes private attached bathroom, work area, and sleep area. Paul and Jackie take great joy in maintaining their home and are committed to providing a positive experience for their guests. Our neighborhood is peaceful and quiet.
The room has a queen sized and 3 skylights which makes it a beautiful space to greet the sun. The suite is on the third floor with french doors along the interior balcony. It includes a spacious bedroom, work area, and attached bathroom. We provide terry cloth robes and slippers and a charging station for all your electronics. WiFi is high speed.
Our neighborhood is a quiet residential section of Lenox.
  • Jackie's beautiful house is perfectly situated in the heart of the Birkshires. We stayed at the lovely furnitured Suite under the rooftop. Jackie is an energetic person, quiet busy but always checking if we were happy with everything. She welcomed us to use the kitchen as we wanted for breakfast. The hole house is clean and the room, bathroom and kitchen are well equipped. We enjoyed our summertime stay, but the house and its surroundings must be even cosier during wintertime.

    Donna2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The most thoughtfully appointed place we have stayed in our travels

    Kyle2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie and Paul are very nice and hospitable hosts. They have a lovely, big home which offers a real sense of being part of a neighborhood within the Lenox community. The back yard was lush and full of beautiful flowers. The room itself was spacious, clean and comfortable. There is a desk area, seating area, television full of premium channels and an in suite bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, it has a rain shower and a tub with jets, along with an abundance of various soaps, shampoo, even extras such as toothpaste, cotton facial wipes and Q-tips. Robesa and slippers are provided, along with plenty of towels and face/wash cloths. Their daughter was visiting for the weekend, and I also met a full time renter in the home who was friendly. Overall, a comfortable and homey stay. Parking is ample, too.

  • Can't recommend this home enough. It is a wonderful location, spotlessly clean, large, comfortable, with every toiletry available that you can imagine! Also much mention that the value is incredible for Lenox. My husband and I look forward to our next stay.

  • Jackie is a delight of a person. She really made me feel at home in her space and company. I simply could not have asked for better accommodation. The room was quiet, spacious, and impeccable with a lot of natural light, a proper writing space, and a lovely private bathroom. There was also full cooking access to a spacious kitchen. My highest recommendation for anyone visiting Lenox!

    Isabel2018-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay in the Berkshires. Lovely home, gracious hosts, easy walk to downtown Lenox. This was our 2nd stay, definitely won't be our last.

This was such a perfect stay! The apartment is beautifully decorated with all new appliances, tile, paint etc. it was immaculately clean, in the center of town, and very private. It was quiet and relaxing, exactly the type of space we needed to escape from the city. I look forward to going back soon. Carol was the perfect host, there if we needed her, thorough in her explanations, and thoughtful with the creation of space. She even stocked the fridge with some essentials, which was above and beyond any other Airbnb experience I've ever had!
